His eyes held a certain coldness that paralyzed her. Her blood ran cold, and the thumping of her heart increased.

"What are you talking about? You promised you wouldn't hurt him! You promised!" Her eyes welled up, reflecting disappointment and hurt.

"I lied, Dela." He moved closer to her. "I really wish you could see through me. I love you so much, and I wish you could feel the same way towards me." A ball of sweat trickled down his temple.

'Gosh! Why am I so nervous around her?'

There was a brief silence between them. Delaney took in deep breaths, trying to calm her nerves down. "Adonis, we had a deal, and you can't go back on your words." She held his gaze for a moment. There was a hint of sadness and sincerity in the depths of his eyes. Something that ignited a certain warmth in her.

Deep within this cold man, there was something more... A yearning for someone to love, someone to call his own. It was evident in the way he looked at her, but she was in the valley of indecision.
