JOANNA

I sat on the edge of the examination bed, the cool paper beneath me crackling faintly as I adjusted my posture. In my hand was the ultrasound image—barely the size of a palm, but everything in my world now lived inside it.

The doctor smiled at both of us. She was warm, professional, and the kind of woman who made you feel safe even when you didn’t know what to expect.

“You’re officially pregnant,” she said again, as if to reassure me it wasn’t a dream. “It's still early, but everything looks good so far.”

I nodded slowly, the words sinking in. Luther squeezed my hand.

“There are some things you’ll need to take seriously moving forward,” the doctor continued. “First, your prenatal vitamins. Folic acid is non-negotiable. We’ll give you a prescription for that. Also, you’ll need to stay hydrated, rest well, and most importantly stress less.”

She glanced at Luther knowingly.

He nodded with that quiet intensity he always carried when he was serious. “I’ll make sure she doesn’t lift

LUTHER. The air outside the station was cool, but my body felt like fire.Dickson walked beside me, his hands in his pockets, his brows furrowed. “I don’t think Asher’s going to say anything about Cassie.”I clenched my jaw. “I think his loyalty is worth more than his freedom. We’ll have to make him talk… or we’ll find other ways.”Dickson nodded slowly. “The investigators are currently looking for Mike. He was one of Cassie’s hired men. Once we find him, we might finally get a thread to pull. Something that leads us to wherever the hell Cassie is hiding.”And just as the words left his mouth, commotion broke near the station gates.“Sir!” one of the officers called. We turned sharply. Two officers were walking in, practically dragging someone between them. The guy was resisting, twisting in their grip like a slippery eel, muttering curses under his breath.Dickson narrowed his eyes. “Oh. Here he is.”Mike.The bastard who was helping Cassie according to Luther..short buzzed hair, l

LUTHER The SUV sped through the streets with two black vans tailing us—security, all eyes on high alert. I kept glancing out the window, but something in my chest refused to sit still. Then my phone buzzed.I looked down.A video. No name. Just a file.I tapped it open.My blood ran cold.It was me… with Cathy. Her body tangled with mine. My head slumped back. My eyes barely open. My expression—blank.A sick feeling gripped my stomach. Then her voice came through, smug and cruel:> “I sent this to your wife. She must be having fun watching it right now.”“What the f*ck is wrong with this girl?” I hissed, gripping the phone tighter.Dickson, beside me, turned instantly. “What happened?”I ignored him, swiping through the rest. The way she set me up carefully, intentionally. Then it hit me.That night I was drunk. I remembered slurring a few words to Cathy, thinking she was just doing her job—nothing more. I didn’t even know I’d blacked out.But she’d used that. And now… Johanna had se

JOANNA Luther paced the living room, his jaw tight, his eyes darker than usual. The sound of his boots tapping against the floor matched the pounding of my heart.“I need you to stay indoors for now,” he said, finally turning to face me. “Until we find Cassie.”I blinked at him, stunned by how calm his voice sounded, even though everything was falling apart. “What about you?” I asked softly. “She’s after all of us, Luther. She’s dangerous. I want you to be safe too.”He walked over to me and gently cupped my cheeks. Then he leaned in, brushing a soft kiss against my forehead. His touch made me shiver, not from fear, but from the ache in my chest.“This is not the time for me to be indoors,” he said, kneeling slightly so we were at eye level. “We have to go out there, clear the mess she created, and find her. We’re going to find her. I promise.”I didn’t say anything. I just nodded, afraid that if I opened my mouth, my fear would spill out in tears. He pulled me into a hug, held me fo

CATHY The dim room stank of damp wood and secrets. I could hear the traffic outside, but it felt miles away. Safe.Asher paced like a nervous dog, his fingers running through his hair. “You’ve ruined this,” he snapped. “That wasn’t the plan, Cassie.”“It’s Cathy now,” I muttered, staring out the dusty window. He slammed his hand against the table. “Don’t play games with me! We agreed. Take Luther down, humiliate him, destroy his reputation. That was the plan.”I slowly turned to him, eyes narrowed. “And you thought that little video would do the trick? You really thought the media would hold onto it long enough for it to stick? Please. They’re already sniffing out inconsistencies.”He stiffened. “They found him unconscious, Cassie. Drugged. That makes it clear something was done to him.”“Exactly,” I hissed. “So when that all comes out—and it will, who do you think they’ll look at? Me. I’ll be the liar. The psycho. The desperate secretary who faked an assault. And where will you be,

JOANNA. The mansion was quiet, too quiet for what we’d been through.I sat on the couch beside Luther, my body still sore, my thoughts even more fragile. The television glowed in front of us, and the voice of the newscaster filled the room like an echo:> “...the sexual assault allegations against Luther Martins remain under investigation. However, preliminary findings from a private investigator hired by his team reveal that Mr. Martin t was discovered unconscious in one of the private event rooms. Medical reports confirm the presence of a strong sedative in his system...”I exhaled slowly. The screen shifted to a blurry still from the party, Luther being helped into an ambulance, Dickson close by.Beside me, Luther reached out and took my hand. He squeezed gently, his fingers trembling a little. I looked over at him dark circles under his eyes, but the warmth in his gaze was still there.I gave him a small nod and turned back to the screen.> “Additionally,” the reporter continued,
