Catherine
My body feels heavy and my head is fuzzy. I am lying in a bed at the hospital. I don’t know what hospital, but I’m sure it’s not my old workplace. The doctor has told me Mr. Peccati is waiting outside but I have told them I don’t want to see him. Instead they have called for Vanessa. I didn’t dare to ask for the police even though I think I should. But what will he do if the police come here? Will he leave and let me go? Will he kill the police and take me away again? I know Vanessa will have the answers. She will give me courage.
The door opens and Vanessa flies through it throwing her arms around my neck. Tears well up in my eyes and I wrap my own arms around her to hug her tightly against me. We are both crying and sniveling.
