37. Drawn by the Past

Adam’s his face turned pale as the cold sweat rushed out. The past was flooding his mind. There was almost no place for Amber to reign.

"Why does she contact me now?" he mumbled before closing his eyes. The crack he thought had vanished from his heart, gaped wide again. The pain felt like crushing his body. “She could text me two years ago or months ago, but why now?”

Suddenly, Amber pushed the door and stepped inside. Adam gasped and opened his eyes. With full awareness, his hand could be moved again. In a flash, he deleted the message that was no longer expected.

“Aren't I on time? We only chatted for two and a half minutes,” Amber said casually.

Wasting no time, Adam dried the evidence of grief. After filling his lungs with fresher air, he got up from the chair and embraced his new lover immediately.

"I love you, Amber. I love you so much," he whispered, sounding very desperate.
