'Oh, the nerve of you Joey. You don't cease to amaze me with your stupid guts' Susan snapped at her stepsister after Joey threatened to burn her mother's clothes. The closer Richard Williams approached them, the more fire burned in Joey's belly, to enable her to say all the nasty things she could think of to Susan.
'You are a bastard. Sorry to break your sorry ass bubble, but my dad told me about you when he was drunk one night. He told me this grave secret. You are a wanderer, a wild pig without anyone out there to own up to bringing your sorry ass into this world. So when I tell you that you are below my maid and that you can't even clean my bathroom, you should know that what I'm talking about is for real. You are way beneath me, Susan' Joey barked, her eyes looking towards Richard Williams from time to time while he approached them. Throughout the entire argument since it started, however sharp Susan was with her words at Joey, she maintained a sense of calm, but now that Joey had given her a blow below the belt, she was damn furious. Calling Susan, a bastard? Susan damn near lost her senses this time around.
'Shut up' Susan barked, her teeth snarling at Joey in unadulterated anger.
'Or else what? what if I don't shut up?' Joey asked, provoking Susan by the second. 'You want to beat me up?' she asked Susan again. 'I dare you, you have never had the balls' Joey bellowed. The resounding slap that Susan gave Joey the following second was enough to send her back to her celebrity friends as if the wind had delivered her to them.
'Phaaaow' the slap sounded like a race car jetting past a competition.
'This is all you will ever be able to do to me in your life, you good for nothing, the bastard child of a harlot mother' Joey sneered at Susan, holding the part of her face that had been slapped in her right palm as if covering it that way would make the pain sting less. Susan gritted her teeth. Joey was driving her insane, so insane to the extent that she wished she could slice Joey in several places with a razor, or even a paper. She wished she had long and sharp nails to claw at Joey like a tiger until she bled. By the time a furious Susan was about to land another hateful slap on Joey's cheek, a hand, strong as steel and cold as ice, held on to her little wrist, holding it in place before it landed on Joey again. Surprised, Susan turned to look at who it was that had held her back, only to be faced with the shocker of her life.
'What the fuck?' she asked herself when her eyes met with this handsome man. His face was long and he had a square jaw, just like her son Michael. He looked just like Michael, what on Earth?
'Oh Susan, my lovely sister Susan, why do you hate me this much?' Joey started to cry. She held her face and wailed as if she was indeed the victim in the current scenario that Richard Williams had come to meet. Susan was taken aback. The way Joey was crying, even Susan started to think back if she didn't really abuse and bully Joey as far as the way she was crying was concerned. All this drama? Susan was astonished indeed. Joey's eyes were red. Tears filled them, and she indeed looked and sounded genuinely pitiful, as if she did not just have a wild and arrogant tone at Susan a couple of moments ago, insulting her and her mom. While Joey was still putting up a show, Susan turned around again to look at the man that had held her hand and stopped her from hitting Joey. He looked very familiar.
'This is strange' Susan said to her hearing only.
'Why did you hit her?' Richard asked Susan with a cold tone. He assumed, from the way Susan was looking at him, that she was blown away by his handsomeness. He thought that just like other females, Susan had instantly fallen for him. He sent out an aura that repelled Susan and whatever kindred vibe she wanted to hold on to towards him. He looked irritated.
'What are you looking at me for? I asked why the hell you beat her up like that for?' Richard asked again, this time in a more disrespectful tone. From the way he sounded, Susan figured out that he was on Joey's side.
The thought of Joey cursing at her and her mother crossed her mind again. The fact that she had threatened to burn her mother's clothes, and even called her a bastard, crossed Susan's mind and allowed her anger to burn once more, even more, heated than the first time.'It has absolutely nothing to do with you' Susan suddenly barked at Richard. She wriggled her wrist while he held her firmly, trying to break free from his grip.
'Let me go you, a bloody intruder. This has absolutely nothing to do with you' she yelled at Richard.
'Richard, please let her go. She's crazy' Joey supposedly intervened on Susan's behalf.
'What?' Susan muttered, turning to look at her stepsister in shock. She started to laugh sarcastically, and somewhat hysterically.
'I told you, she's out of her mind. She wanted me to introduce her to a couple of my manager friends, trying to force herself into the business. I told her she's not ready for it, but she thinks I just don't want her to succeed, so...' Joey explained to Richard.
'This is unbelievable' Susan said in a faint whisper. Of course, Richard believed what Joey had just said because he indeed saw Susan slapping Joey without mercy and decorum, and Joey didn't slap her back or retaliate, so it was safe for Richard to assume that Susan was a mad woman.
'She wants to join in the business with such average looks?' Richard Williams asked, checking Susan out with a ridiculous aura.
Susan was full of resentment.'I know you heard me tell you to leave me the hell alone' she repeated at Richard. The fact that he had just concluded that what Joey claimed about her was true. It pissed her off like nothing else in the world. She used to think that since she became a mother, it was easier for her to curtail her temper, but this scenario she was having with Joey and Richard was proving her assumption wrong by far. She was losing her mind. 'If you touch her again, I'm going to have your hands cut off since you can only afford to be a mad bully with them' Richard warned Susan. An enraged Susan bit Richards's hand, the hand which he held on to her wrist with and refused to let go, she bit him so hard, that bite marks sprung upon the area that her teeth had dug into.'Mad fucking dog' Richard barked at Susan, letting go of her hand and sneering at her. 'I thought you'd hold on to me forever Susan said scornfully at him, rolling her now free wrist around to ease the pain t
Susan's aunt Mabel was grooming Judy's hair when Susan arrived. The little girl's hair, as young as she was, had the texture of someone that had been grooming it carefully for ages. The hair complemented Judy's face a lot, making her look like a rare gemstone. She was perfect to look at. Michael, on the other hand, was playing with his toy. They had both taken a bath and were waiting for their mom to return.'Mom' Micheal yelped happily when Susan walked into the house. He gave her a warm hug that made Susan's eyes fill up with tears at how much better her kids made her feel. If only they knew what she had just been through, Michael especially. He would be mad.'Mom, have you had dinner yet?' Michael asked her with obvious concern in his voice.'Yes, I have my love' Susan lied. 'You both go in and get some rest, I have to enrol you in a nice kindergarten tomorrow. You have had a bath, right?' Susan asked. Her kids nodded. By now, Mabel had tied up Judy's hair behind her in two straigh
Moonlight poured into the room while Susan cuddled her kids jealously to herself. The lights were off, although Judy, as usual of the twins, wished she could sleep with the lights turned on. All that playing and activity all through the day, now the kids were tired. They clung to both sides of their mother, holding her as if she was going to escape if they dared let her free. The day's activities flashed across Susan's mind. She had to go back to her family's house again. She needed those clothes.'I will go there when dad is around' she muttered while she thought of the possibility. Hopefully, her dad being around will make a difference to her, if not, she might do something that no one would expect, not even herself. She shook her head at the thought of her stepsister and her stepmother. The joy Joey felt from humiliating her still made Susan wonder why she was so mean, and to what end. and what did Joey ever hope to achieve? she had no idea. The bed the three of them lay in, a me
Susan started to groom Michael for the day. She fetched a wet towel and wiped his skin clean. His face, the back of his ears and all over his entire body were wiped clean. Then it was time for her to groom his hair. It was usually her favourite thing to do for Michael in the morning because his hair was long and perfect. She liked the feel of it against her palm. She had a comb by her, so she combed out his blonde long hair, every single strand that was originally hidden, she combed it out to expose Michael's full hair. It poured on his shoulder like a waterfall. 'Wait a damn minute' Susan yelped, standing back to take a more observant look at her son. She styled his hair in several ways, just to confirm if what was on her mind was correct. Michael looked exactly like the asshole that almost broke her wrist, all because he was trying to save Joey. 'No, no, no. This can't be. This is unbelievable' Susan muttered, gazing at her son, Michael in surprise. She zoned out on him.'Mom, wha
'I need to start working desperately' Susan said to herself after she had paid the fees for her twins' new school. It was expensive to afford, but it was because of them that she was working so hard after all, so the cost of the fees was not troubling her.'I have only 9,650 dollars left, in my entire life. What the hell?' she muttered when she checked her account balance. Michael and Judy had easily won the love of their teachers as soon as they resumed their new school. Aunt Mabel had searched for a kindergarten around the neighbourhood, in advance for the kids showing up. So that morning, after the kids had finished their meal and stepped out, Susan easily took them to the school their grand aunt Mabel had already fished out for them. The fact that while they were abroad, they had already spent a couple of months in pre-school, and about two years in kindergarten, gave them an edge over their supposed mates. They were mature. Much more than the rest of the pupils that they studied
An impressive man stepped out of the elevator. He wore a typical suit, with one of his hands dipped stylishly into the pocket of the pants he had on. His aura was gentle and calm, although, it could not be mistaken for weakness. The way he stood out, made the other men that stood by him look dull and blunt. If one were to judge a man by his looks before he was awarded anything deserving, then this man that Susan happened to catch a small glimpse of, would likely own the world and everything in it, because he was unbelievably perfect. Richard Williams, the man that Susan almost saw stepping out of the elevator, squinted and burrowed his eyebrow. The person he was looking at was that same stubborn girl from the previous evening at Joey's birthday party. He could not avoid noticing Susan, no matter how hard he tried to. He was stepping out of his elevator, and she was just stepping into hers. While he noticed Susan, who had just stepped into the elevator, the spot where she had bitten
Susan was frantic. How could she have possibly offended anyone, just hours after arriving in the country? She had not even spent twenty-four hours in America, yet trouble had caught up with her already.'I hate my damn life' she muttered.'You what?' Susan's godmother asked her. Susan had gone so deep in thought, to the extent that she forgot that her godmother was still on the call, asking to know whose toes Susan had stepped on.'But I just got here. How on earth could I have stepped on any toes? I have not even met anyone apart from...' Susan was saying when she suddenly remembered the man at Joey's party.'Wait, godmother, can you please explain how your CEO looks?' She yelped. Her godmother felt small relief to know that Susan had started to recall an event. She knew that Richard's decision was not an ordinary one, and something must have happened concerning Susan that he was aware of, but she just could not draw up a connection yet.'I just sent you a picture of him' her godmoth
Michael, in a bid to make his mom feel better, thought it best to change the topic of conversation. After all, something interesting had happened at school, and he had looked forward to telling his mom about it the entire time.'Mom, guess what?' he asked her. 'Our teacher showed us a video on his phone. It was a video of us. Me and Judy. He said that we were popular on the internet,' the innocent boy revealed.Susan's eyes widened.'What are you talking about?' She replied in panic, but quickly shifted her mood back to being gentle, thinking that Michael was only making a thoughtless statement. He took his mom's phone from her. Susan allowed him to take it, thinking that he only wanted to play games on it as usual. She busied herself with hugging Judy and trying to make her feel as good as she could because Judy had started sobbing, seeing her mom in pain and tears. Michael scrolled through his mom's phone like an expert. Somehow, he had crammed the title of the video when his teache
