LOGINSERAPHINA’S POV
My footsteps and my heartbeat were one right now, racing with lust, fear, and guilt.
Coach Marcus kissed me.
I hurried down the road, not daring to look back to see if he followed me. When he called me back, it took my entire will not to turn and melt into his arms.
“Coach Marcus kissed me,” I whispered, raising my fingers to my lips. I still felt him there. His hard, domineering presence. His kiss felt like magic, the most wonderful feeling I had ever experienced.
Even his son’s kisses didn’t make me melt into a pile. Just one kiss and Coach Marcus had broken all my defenses immediately.
I walked faster, trying to get to my next class. It was Mathematics, and I was entirely grateful Dylan couldn’t cope with it. He had blown up my phone all night, and today at practice, he found every single way to talk to me. Even Mika had the decency to look away.
I reached the entrance of the building, and just as I was about to go inside, a hand grabbed me from behind, spinning me.
“What the fuck?” I screamed in surprise. We rarely had attackers on this campus, but anything could happen.
Dylan held my hand, and I shook him off. “Are you fucking crazy?” I screamed at him.
He looked remorseful, but I couldn’t care less.
“Babe, I’ve been trying to talk to you.”
The nerve of this guy.
“Babe,” I mocked. “Babe? Was I your babe when you were screwing my best friend after calling my mother a whore?”
A group of students snickered as they walked into class, but I didn’t back down. They’d probably spread the rumors anyway.
“Lower your voice, Seraphina.”
“You are out of your fucking mind, Dylan,” I lost my shit. “You fuck me over, make me feel like I’m worthless, and you’re telling me to reduce my voice? Leave me the fuck alone.”
“I am sorry, baby,” he cried out. I let out heavy breaths, disgusted at the sight of him. “She tempted me, you know. Every time I came to your apartment, when you weren’t looking, she would flirt and seduce me,” Dylan whined. “I was weak.”
“For once, you tell the truth,” I spat out.
“Listen to me, Seraphina.” I allowed him to hold my hand. “I will spend my entire life apologizing and making this shit up to you. I am sorry I did that. She’s not half as important as you are,” he said.
I shook my head. “I can’t trust you ever again, Dylan. It’s not just with Mika. I heard the words you said. Are you that jealous of me?” I looked up at his face.
He tried to hide it, but I saw it in him. He was extremely jealous of me. My success.
I was a threat to Dylan Cross.
“No, baby,” he said, rubbing my hand between his. “I am the captain. You are the star. We fit like a puzzle.”
Yeah, we did, until he fucked me over.
I stared at him, a devilish idea forming in my head.
“Okay, Dylan,” I sighed, pretending I was calmer. “I’ll hear you out.”
His face lit up with joy. “Really? Oh, thank you, Seraphina.” He hugged me, and I let him, gagging at his touch internally.
“I’m not just forgiving you, Dylan.” I pressed my hand against his chest, separating us. “You have to show me you deserve this.”
He nodded eagerly. “Done, baby girl.”
“No cheating?” I asked, like I cared.
“Never again.”
“Great.” I turned to walk into my class.
“Do you want to go to dinner with me?” he asked enthusiastically.
“No, Dylan,” I said coldly. “I’ll text you later,” I dismissed him.
When I was done with Dylan Cross, I would have taken the two things he loved selfishly.
His captain position and his father’s love.
I sat down in class, smiling to myself. People whispered around me, but I ignored them. I reached for my bag to grab my phone, shooting a text to someone.
“Can I see you please?”
The reply came immediately.
“Definitely. 8 p.m., by my office.”
I smirked to myself, putting my phone back to focus on the class.
Dylan didn’t even know what was about to hit him.
CHAPTER SIXTYDylan's POVI walked into the training facility alone. Naomi had to go get someone important, and I decided not to wait for her. If I was going to win the next games, I had to practice.A few guys were playing already. “Annyeonghaseyo,” I greeted.“Annyeonghaseyo,” they replied. I settled down into the chair and started the game.“jeo salam-i migug-in-ingayo?” I heard one ask the other if I was the American in their language. I wondered if they knew I could understand, but I ignored them.“ne, maj-ayo. geuga ije silbeojeudo mos igindago deul-eoss-eoyo,” the second one replied, laughing. “migug-eneun dodaeche eotteon hyeongpyeon-eobsneun chaempieondeul-i issneun geoya?”My hands fisted into a ball. How dare they call me a trashy champion? Why would they even think that?“gyesoghaeseo geue daehae iyagihamyeon dangsin-eul bagsalnael geos gat-eun geuleon yuhyeong-ui chaempieon,” I hissed. Their faces twisted into similar shocked expressions.“Yeah, that's rig
CHAPTER FIFTY-NINESERA’S POVI stepped down from the bus, the hit afternoon sun shining in my eyes. Boot camp was my favourite part of streaming, and I could not wait to start.Even though that bitch almost made me loose it.I dragged my small luggage behind me. “Hi,” I smiled at the receptionist. “I am with—”“She's with us,” I heard from behind me. Romeo and a group of my teammates were standing there, and it seemed they had already checked in.I had not seen or spoken to Romeo since that day I saw him at Agatha's house. “Thank you,” I said to the receptionist.“You're late,” Romeo said.“I had a test,” I replied, staring up at him. “How is everyone?”He bit his lips. “That's what it is?”“What are you talking about?” I asked, my Express blank.“Sera, it's not what you think,” he sighed, taking my bag from me. “Agatha is—”“I do not care, Romeo. I genuinely don't.”Something in my gaze must have gotten to him. “Great, well then I should tell you what's been
CHAPTER FIFTY EIGHTAGATHA’S POVCause Tonight's gonna be a good night. Tonight's gonna be a good night…The music floated in my house as I dressed up, bobbing my head along to it. I applied my gloss, then straightened my suit. “Alexa,” I called, “turn music off.”“You look good,” I said, staring at my reflection in the mirror. Many might think I was shallow, but being a woman in esports and being a coach? I had to be cutthroat.I stepped out of my house. There was a small box in front of my door. “What is this?” I said, bending down to pick it up.“For Miss Agatha,” was all the note said.I glanced at my wrist watch. I was meant to talk to the new trainees, but I still had a full hour before I had to see them. I took the box inside, humming beneath my breath.I grabbed a small blade. Maybe this was a gift from Tylson, I thought. He was so sweet.I opened the box. “Huh?”There were no gifts. Just different stacks of envelopes, all properly labeled. I lifted the first
CHAPTER FIFTY SEVENSERAPHINA’S POVI knocked on Marcus's door.“It's open,” he called from inside. I had come straight from school, musing on whether to tell him Dylan had called me to threaten me.“What are you up to?” I asked, dropping my bag on one of the sofas. Marcus was in his kitchen, and I went into it.I smirked. Marcus was like a man obsessed, laying down different papers on his kitchen table. “What is all this?”He glanced up at me. “Don't you look beautiful,” he said with a sly smile. “Did you come here to seduce me?”“No,” I laughed. “I just came from school.”“Still ravenous,” he said. “This is all I have found out about Agatha and her lover.”“What are the boxes?” I asked, peering into them.“An investigative package,” he explained. “All the articles I could find, messages, disciplinary cases that were suddenly swept under the rug and students' anonymous complaints.”My mouth dropped open. “They are a lot.”“Yes,” he said. “I took it a step furthe
CHAPTER FIFTY -SIXDylan's POVI paced my room, angrily staring at the picture on the screen. How dare she talk to me in such a manner? It was Wednesday, one of the days I was free to stay indoors. The management was working me harder than ever, and I resented the reason why I had taken this deal.SeraphinaShe filled my every thought. It didn't matter who I was with; it didn't matter who I was talking to. I changed my wallpaper to a picture of both of us on our second month anniversary date, when she looked at me like I was the world.Maybe, I thought, I should call her again. The call rang and rang, yet there was no answer. After awhile, the only message I got was that the number I was calling did not exist anymore. She has blocked me.I needed to talk to her, to taunt her more, and she blocked me.I tossed my phone across the room. I had to get her out of my mind before she consumed everything. My phone rang, so I went to where it landed. “Hello?”“Dylan?” Nao
CHAPTER FIFTY-FIVESERAPHINA’S POVI walked into Marcus's place of work. “Babe?” I called out.“In the back,” I heard him answer. I went to the back, and sure enough, Marcus was there.“Inventory,” he grinned. I smirked at him. “Are you done with classes?”I nodded. “I came to say hi.”“Okay,” Marcus replied. “Just give me a second, okay? I'm about to close up.”He finished arranging the new stock, then I followed him back out to the shop. “Just a little more bookkeeping,” he said, flashing me a grin.“Take your time,” I replied. “How are you doing?”“I just received my last check from the school today,” he replied. “The last three months.”“That is amazing,” I said. “You could pay off some loans.”“You bet,” he replied, closing a book. “Okay, I am done.”I watched him silently. “Is there something on your mind? You're awfully quiet,” Marcus noticed.“No, well. There is nothing,” I answered. I really did not want to talk about esports with him.“I have someth
