Sera’s POV

“Do I look good?” Marcus fiddled with the collar of his shirt for the millionth time, his eyes hooded. I crossed the space between us and straightened it now. “Perfect,” I said, looking into his eyes.

His lips parted slightly and he looked at me with so much longing, I was so sure it matched how I felt too. “Sera—” he began.

The cab came to a stop. “Wow, we are already here,” I whispered, not looking away from him.” He stared down at me, his eyes going to my lips and he licked his.

“Let's go,” I said, breaking our gaze.

Marcus came down quickly from his side and turned, opening my side of the cab for me. “Thank you,” I smiled, taking his outstretched hand.

The night was cold, and I wrapped the jacked Marcus insisted I take from his closet tighter around me. “Glad you took that now,” he said, noticing me grinding my teeth.

CHAPTER FORTYMarcus’ POV“Ahhh,” I sighed, raising the trophy up to the sky. “Much better.”I placed the trophy on the shelf and picked up the next. The insignia was simple. Marcus Cross, Best Coach, Morrigan University. This was the first E-sports trophy I had won, just after I got hired by the school. I cleaned it, wiped away the dust and placed it back. Cleaning my trophies was one of my favourite past times, and since Dylan stabbed me, I had been too lazy to do that.Someone knocked on my door. “Who is that?” I yelled, wiping down the small miniature horse trophy I got from horse riding. The person knocked again.I dropped the rag and my couch and went downstairs, gripping on to the banister for life. “Coming,” I called out. I opened the door and a grin stretched across my lips. “Baby girl.”Seraphina clutched her hands in front of her, her lips stretched in a small smile. “Hi, Coach Marcus,” she giggled. I shifted a bit so she could pass, and her body brushed against mine.“You

CHAPTER THIRTY-NINEDylan's POV I climbed out of my bed, trying to make sure the naked woman next to me doesn't move. My ankle bracelet felt very heavy, hindering me in more ways than usual.I got to the kitchen and started breakfast. After drinking a glass of water to clear my mind, I brike four eggs into a bowl and popped some bread into the toaster to get brown. “Hey,” Yao called from the entrance of the kitchen, the bedsheet wrapped around her body.“Did I wake you up?” I asked, walking closer to kiss her slightly. She froze at first then melted into the kiss. Fucking her was fun and convenient, she has more energy than any other girl I had actually been with. “No you didn't,” she replied when I released her mouth.“I'm cooking breakfast,” I told her, walking back to my eggs. I brought out a bag of Mario from my pocket and opened it, ready to spend my day buzzed. “Not today, Dylan.”“Why?” I arched my brow at her. She had been supplying me with a steady dosage of drug since my ho

CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHTSera’s POV“But, why do you not love me,” Gabriel cried. “How could you possibly not love me?”I cringed hard at my laptop, watching the grown man act a fool for the millionth time. “I gave you so many chances, Gabriel,” Annalise, the female character cried, clutching her wedding petals in her hands. “Why do you not want me to have love?”I laughed out loud. “What a joke,” I said, laying down more comfortably between my sheets and the blanket. “Well then,” Gabriel pulled out a gun from his suit, “if you do not love me, no one else will.”My fork fell in my bowl as I watched in horror, this man put the gun to his head and fired off quick shit, ending his life. “What the fuck?” I sobbed, rewinding the scene. Sure enough, it was still there.Suddenly, my spaghetti tasted bland in my mouth. “How could he,” I sighed angrily, slamming my laptop shut. All because his best friend was getting married to a girl he loved? My door bell rang at that second. I slowly climbed ou

CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVENDylan’s POVI threw the dice. “Come on, give papa two sixes,” I muttered waiting for it to stop. It rolled and stopped. I counted eagerly, a smile stretched on my face. “That's how you fucking do it,” I whooped. The other players murmured and pushed their money towards me angrily. “You've got to be cheating dude,” a guy said. I grinned. “Come on, don't be a sore loser. Again?”Yao hissed. I turned back to look at her. “What was that for?”“We've been out long enough, Dylan.”I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, you just keep looking out for cops. I need to do this.”“If you did not spend all your allowance, you would not have to,” she scolded, settling back on the wall. The alley stink of pee and I had to crouch low to play. “Yeah, I had needs,” I murmured. The truth was I had wasted my allowance on gambling in almost every casino and now, I was banned from most of them. “Just one more,” I whispered, rolling the dice again. The smell of kimchi and Korean spice filled my no

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIXSera’s POV A week passed. The money was still on my bed, in the bag I brought it home in. I stared at it before I slept, seeing the faces of the frightened children, the small old lady's hands shaking as she laid on the floor, the blood soaking my hands.Should I just turn myself in?How could I do that though? Nobody would believe me if I said I did not mean to do it. That's I was tricked by Jennifer, and I would have to tell them about Marcus and I. It would be my word against hers, and from how her friends flocked her in school, their gazes haunting my every movement, I was already certain her words will stab and nail me to my death. And there were the nationals to think about. How would the team cope? What will Agatha say? Finally, I had proven to be the untrustworthy person she was already painting me out to be.I trudged in the familiar rocky road to Marcus' house.
