Abby Hale

I still couldn’t believe that they both walked away from me. My chest felt tight, like someone had reached in and twisted something vital.

Did I push them too far?

What if what I was asking from both of them wasn’t bold but just stupid? I dragged a hand through my face and exhaled shakily.

I genuinely didn’t expect any of them to leave.

While I was still lost in my thoughts, the waiter dropped the food we had ordered on the table.

As I lowered my eyes to look at it, I was filled with disgust. And if that wasn’t enough, she decided to meddle in my business.

“Where did your guests go?” she asked, her voice too casual compared to the storm that was brewing inside of me.

I blinked at her. “And how’s that your business?” I snapped, my voice rising in anger. “Just get me the bill and stop asking questions that don’t concern you.”

She flinched, clearly taken aback by my response. “I’m sorry… I shouldn’t have asked,” she apologized, her voice barely audible.

    Chapter 42Liam Lancaster ~•~I already had a first plan to sabotage Abby and Landon’s relationship. But now, I wouldn’t be able to use that trick anymore. My parents would definitely not be in support of him dating someone from the office, so I thought I had the upper hand and already planned how I would use it against him. My heart shattered when Abby told me that he invited her for dinner. If he were ready to take her to our parents, then the blackmail wouldn’t work. The realization burned deeper than I’d expected. “Is everything okay?” Abby asked, giving me a concerned look. My jaw clenched. “No, everything isn’t okay,” I admitted. “Why?” She asked curiously. I’m having dinner with my sister and my mom.” Landon sighed through the other end of the line. “But my mom wants to meet you.” I genuinely wasn’t ready to meet Landon’s mom, and it was a good thing I promised my family that I would spend time with them. I couldn’t break the promise. “I can meet her another time.” He exhaled. “Okay, but she was really excited to see you.” I crossed my legs as I sat on the couch. “Landon!” “What?” He replied gently. “You’re happy that I came up with an excuse, right?” I asked, raising a brow even though he couldn’t see me. “How did you know?” He asked with a low chuckle. I laughed. “Because I don’t think that you’re ready to introduce me to your parents. Not now, not ever.” “Why do you say so?” “Because of the triangle and the fact that your parents would approve of you dating someone from the office.” Landon was silent for a while. “Yeah,” he finally cleared

    Chapter 40Landon Lancaster ~•~Abby and I spent a few hours cuddling on the couch until we fell asleep. When I woke up, it was already too late to go home. I tapped Abby gently on the shoulder. She let out a yawn as she opened her eyes. “What?” She asked in a slightly groggy voice. “It’s past midnight already.” Abby jerked up from the couch. “What? We fell asleep.” I nodded. “Yeah.” “Do you want to go back to my room?” She asked as she sat upright, rubbing her eyes. “Sure.” I stood up and took her hand as she led me to her room. As soon as she closed the door behind us, I started kissing her. Ever since I opened my eyes, I’d been thinking about how I’d eaten her out. And the thought of it made me hard.     Chapter 39Abby Hale ~•~“Why did you punch him?” I asked as Landon came to the front door. “And what are you doing here? I thought you weren’t sure about tonight anymore.” Landon exhaled sharply. “I was texting and calling but you didn’t pick up your phone,” he replied. “I realized that I didn’t want to go out, I just wanted us to chill at your house and watch Netflix or something.” I fixed my narrowed gaze on him. “Okay, but why did you punch Liam? I told you to let it go.” Landon’s jaw clenched. “That’s not possible. Someone had to pay for this.” He pointed to his face. “And I feel a little bit better now.” I folded my arms around my chest. “So punching your brother took the pain away?” He shook his head. “No. But I just feel better.” We talked for a while before I finally ushered him to the house. “So how are you doing?” I asked as we settled down on the couch. I rested my head on Landon’s chest. “Would you like to eat something?” “Eat what? You want to order takeout?”
