With one hand in his pocket, Liam continued calmly,

"First, the cause of the fire hasn't been officially determined. Second, even if it was arson, do you have any evidence that points to SCA? Third, what possible motive would I have to do something like that?"

The woman trembled from head to toe, yet still screamed, "The world is rotten! You hire killers and silence people, and you won't even let us seek justice!"

"If you want justice, I can give it to you," Liam interrupted. "I'll contact the police right now and request a full investigation into the fire--how it started, how it spread. I'll give you an answer."

She froze, clearly not expecting that response, but still forced herself to retort, "Authorities always protect their own! You think I'd believe any of those reports?"

"If you don't trust the legal system at all, then what kind of justice are you actually asking for?" Liam countered. "Do you want me to simply confess to arson and murder? Ms., I'm agreeing to an investigation

In the hospital ward, Robin stared at the numbers on the monitor, his brow deeply furrowed.Liam sat beside the bed, his fingers brushing gently over Cecilia's pale cheek before finally closing around her icy hand. His voice was low. "What caused it?"Robin hesitated for a moment. "After a joint consultation, the department heads believe it may have been exposure to something prohibited during pregnancy.""That's impossible," Liam said flatly. "I personally prepared everything she uses.""Based on her physical reaction," Robin added, "it was likely something she's been carrying with her recently. Possibly in her handbag."Liam's gaze sharpened. He stood abruptly. "Her bag?""You thought of something?"Liam slammed his fist hard against the wall and spoke coldly toward the doorway. "Go home immediately. Bring me the white handbag next to the sofa."The bodyguards moved quickly. When the bag was delivered, Liam dumped everything inside onto the table.Robin examined the items one by one

In the café, Gia slammed her phone heavily onto the table. The old injury on her wrist throbbed faintly from the force. She bit down on her lower lip, her fingers pressing hard against the scar. That injury hadn't been worth it at all--she should have known better. A woman like Cecilia was never going to be brought down by tricks like that."I was just trying to remind you of your place, yet you insist on hovering around Liam."Elva sat across from her, expressionless, a mocking curve at the corner of her lips. "Gia, sometimes I really admire your nerve."Gia lifted her coffee cup and let out a cold laugh. "I heard Robin is getting engaged to Vicky next month? Makes sense. Your circle has always cared most about matching backgrounds."Elva's expression stiffened noticeably, though she forced a smile. "Robin treats everyone as a temporary amusement. In the end, the one who stands beside him will only ever be someone like Vicky--someone with the right pedigree.""Impressive. You see th

It was late at night. Cecilia lay nestled in Liam's arms, her fingers unconsciously tracing the ridges of the buttons on his shirt."Liam.""Mm?""Do you think Eleanor...will get better?"The hand stroking her long hair paused for a fraction of a second before Liam answered in a low voice, "She will. Beck is with her.""But I keep feeling..." Cecilia lifted her eyes to him. "Nick's death...it doesn't feel like just an accident."Liam's arm tightened almost imperceptibly before he pulled her closer. "Don't overthink it. Get some rest first.""But there were details at the scene--""Shh." He interrupted softly, his warm palm covering the back of her hand. "Sleep."Cecilia finally fell silent and obediently closed her eyes, yet the faint sense of unease lingered stubbornly in her heart.Outside the window, the moonlight was thin, the night breeze occasionally lifting a corner of the curtains. The room grew quiet, filled only with the steady rhythm of their overlapping breaths. But beneat

The dining table was laid out with an array of exquisitely prepared dishes. Every plate showed careful thought and effort."Here, try this soup. It's been simmering all morning," Ferdinand said as he personally ladled out a bowl and gently slid it in front of Cecilia.Cecilia was a little surprised. She thanked him softly and had just lifted her spoon when, with a dull thud, a piece of rib suddenly dropped into her bowl. She looked up to see Albert smiling at her kindly."Eat more meat. You've lost weight lately," he said, his tone carrying the concern of an elder.Ferdinand frowned almost imperceptibly, then gestured for the chef to bring over a plate of freshly seared lamb chops."You used to love these. I had the kitchen prepare them especially for you."Cecilia held her spoon, unsure whether she should drink the soup first or eat the meat. The two men seemed to be competing, constantly adding food to her plate. She hadn't even finished swallowing before another serving landed in f

Inside the car, Cecilia turned to look back at the hospital building shrinking into a tiny dot in the distance, until it finally disappeared around the corner of the street. She turned forward again and leaned gently into the seat.Liam reached out, drawing her a little closer and letting her rest against his shoulder."We're going back to the estate today," he said above her head, his voice low and steady.Cecilia lifted her head slightly to look at him. "Today?""Mmm. My father informed me that an elder has returned and wants to see us.""Who is it?""You'll know when we get there."The car drove smoothly along the winding mountain road and finally stopped in front of the familiar mansion at the summit. The heavy iron gates slowly opened. Two rows of servants stood in silence on either side, welcoming them without a word. From the moment Cecilia stepped out of the car, she sensed that something was different. The Sinclair family residence was always impeccably orderly, but today the
