The warm lighting of the restaurant hallway shifted to a more sterile glow as Serena pushed open the door to the ladies’ restroom. Inside, the air was cool and quiet. She moved to the large mirror, reaching into her purse for her compact. Her hands moved slowly, dabbing gently at her makeup, reapplying a bit of gloss, checking the smudge of eyeliner under her lashes. A soft sigh escaped her lips not of weariness, but of emotional weight.

Her mind wasn’t on her reflection. It was still on the conversation at dinner-the confession, the tension, the silent end to something that had never really begun.

She barely heard the door behind her creak open again.

When she glanced up, still focused on her lipstick, her eyes met the mirror and caught a reflection that made her blood turn cold.

Xender.

He stepped in slowly, deliberately. The ladies' restroom.

Serena froze, lowering her lipstick. “Xender?” Her voice was tight, uncertain. “What are you doing here?”

He didn’t answer at first.

Ben’s glass trembled in his hand as he took a slow sip of water, but the moment the cold liquid hit the back of his throat, he choked hard. A sudden, uncontrolled cough tore through his chest, catching Serena off guard. She rushed to his side without hesitation, gently patting his back. “Are you okay?” she asked, her brows drawn in concern.Ben nodded, forcing out a breath between coughs. “Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Just went down the wrong pipe,” he said hoarsely, forcing a tight smile as he leaned forward slightly, clearing his throat.Serena watched him carefully for a moment longer, then slowly returned to her seat, setting her now-empty wineglass on the side table.Ben swallowed again, as if trying to steady something far deeper than water. “Please, continue your story,” he said, his tone casual but his eyes a shade too alert.Serena gave him a small smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes. Instead, her gaze drifted to the flickering candle flame on the coffee table, her expression tighte

  • Dumped by Ex , I married his Uncle    Crack in the blooming love story

The low hum of jazz music filled the dimly lit bar, flickering neon lights bouncing off the polished countertop. It was late, and most of the after-work crowd had cleared out, leaving the place relatively quiet—perfect for the kind of conversation Stacy wanted to have.Jake lounged against the backrest of the booth, his expression impatient as he swirled the dark liquid in his glass. He didn’t care for Stacy’s theatrics anymore. The history between them made his skin crawl, but curiosity and his own unresolved feelings for Serena had dragged him here.“What’s the issue, huh?” he asked, eyes narrowing. “You sounded urgent.”Stacy rolled her eyes and crossed her legs slowly, dramatically, as if trying to prove she was still in control. She leaned in, tapping her fingers against the table. “Oh, come off it, Jake. It’s not as if we’re dating anymore, so why are you throwing tantrums?”Jake clenched his jaw but said nothing.“I didn’t call you here to relive the past,” Stacy continued, her

No, no, I…” Serena’s voice cracked as Ben lifted her in his arms, her hands weakly pressing against his chest, not in protest, but confusion, shame, something she couldn’t name. Her heart was pounding against her ribs, tears still clinging to her lashes.“Don’t say anything else,” Ben whispered softly, his jaw clenched. “I’m here with you now.”Serena didn’t argue. She let herself be held. The ride home was drenched in silence. The kind that felt thick and suffocating. Streetlights flashed across Serena’s pale face in the passenger seat, the shadows in the car deepening the haunted look in her eyes. She stared out the window, but her mind was far away—still in that restroom, still pressed to that cold wall, still hearing the way Xender had said her name like she was an object, not a person. How had this happened? How had someone so “nice,” so composed, so attentive… turned into a monster in the space of an evening?I should have listened to Ben…She swallowed the lump forming in her t

  • Dumped by Ex , I married his Uncle    The dinner

Serena descended the stairs slowly, the soft rustle of her dress brushing against her legs like whispered intentions. Her hair was pulled back in an elegant twist, subtle makeup enhancing the natural glow of her skin. She had chosen a soft navy-blue dress that hugged her figure with quiet grace, the kind of outfit that said “effortless” while making it very clear she still cared about how she showed up in the world. About how she wanted to be seen even if she insisted it was “nothing serious.”Ben, who had been sitting in the study but couldn’t concentrate, emerged the moment he heard the sound of her heels on the marble staircase. He’d promised himself he wouldn’t watch her leave. That he’d give her space. That he’d be mature about it. But all of that resolve crumbled the moment he caught sight of her.She looked… breathtaking. Not just because of the dress. Not because of the light perfume that wafted gently toward him. It was the look in her eyes composed, clear, as if she’d spent

  • Dumped by Ex , I married his Uncle    A ray of hope

The morning sun filtered softly through the grand windows of the penthouse kitchen, spilling golden light across the pristine marble countertops. The air was quite eerily so. No clatter of silverware, no sharp shuffle of polished shoes on the tiles. Just the low, steady hum of the refrigerator and the occasional chirp of birds echoing from the terrace.Ben stood alone in the kitchen, sleeves rolled up, brows furrowed in concentration as he cracked eggs into a mixing bowl. His tie hung loose around his neck, the top two buttons of his shirt undone. There was flour on his cheek, and a small smear of batter on his wrist, but he didn’t care.He was doing this himself.Behind him, a voice cut through the silence, startled and alarmed. “Sir… you can’t be here.”Ben turned, spoon halfway to the bowl.It was the chef Miss Jennie. Middle-aged, sharp-eyed, and fiercely loyal. She’d been with him for over a decade. Seen him at his coldest. Heard him at his angriest. Watched him climb through soc
