7. A Whole New World

Once everyone was out, Maya immediately dragged her IV line, so she could reach the drawer that the nurse meant earlier. Her expression changed when she saw the remote that was actually in the drawer. Her subtle expression could not hide her serious face at all, as Maya turned on the television with slightly furrowed brows.

In silence, Maya continued to search for the channel that was broadcasting the latest news. Even though it has been five years since the meteor fell and changed the order of the world, Maya still clearly remembers the date when the meteor fell and various important events happen from her previous life. Maya tries to find the slightest information from her current surroundings. She had to know where she was, what year it was, and whether this world was really the same as the one she lived before or not.

Because if Maya is just rewinding time with a different body, Maya clearly has to start preparing to anticipate the meteor that will fall and destroy the world for once again. The very first thing she had to do was to leave this country, if this country was the country where the meteor fell in her previous life.

"Miss, I brought your newspaper and lunch."

Because her feeling of alertness could not be dispelled just because she was reborn, Maya still felt surprised when someone suddenly knocked on her infirmary door. This time, the nurse went straight to Maya's room, with a food trolley and a pile of newspapers on top of her trolley.

"Since Miss is awake, it is better if Miss try to eat something. Ah yes, the doctor also scheduled an examination for this afternoon. If Miss is considered fine, the doctor will probably allow Miss to go home today," said the nurse. Maya helped while the nurse was preparing her lunch. "I see. Thank you very much," she said as they finished preparing everything. Maya tried hard to hold back her saliva as she stared at the hospital food in front of her. Only her common sense that still trying to remind Maya, that she cannot look bad in other people's eyes right now.

Actually, the food that the nurse brought was just ordinary patient porridge. The taste of bland porridge spread in her mouth when Maya started to eat the porridge. In fact, the bowl of white porridge tasted like it did not have any basic salt in it, according to other patients. But Maya, the girl could swallow the porridge without saying much. For Maya, who had a hard time finding spices in her previous world, the food she was currently eating was delicious and the cooking method was also very smooth and comfortable to swallow. Everything about the porridge was perfect for the simple girl.

Maya took another bite, tasted it carefully, then nodded in satisfaction. The girl involuntarily hummed happily once in a while, as spoonful after spoonful she quickly ate the bowl of porridge.

Only God knew how long it had been since Maya had been able to eat fresh food like this. It did not matter, even if she was just going to eat rice for now. Fresh food is everything! Rich food taste, is her heaven for now.

For a while, Maya focused on finishing her food before focusing on staring at the pile of newspapers in front of her. Maya's brow furrowed as she looked at the year printed on the newspaper.

The year clearly said 2025. The newspaper shows that she is in the same year as the year when zombies bit and killed him in her past life. Maya still clearly remembers that the mysterious meteor fell to earth in September 2020. The calendar has indeed almost disappeared since humans began to leave their hometown. But Maya kept on counting all this time. And she knew, the year of his death in the previous world was around 2025.

To confirm her hypothesis, Maya began to search for more television channels and the news columns in the newspapers she had just gotten from the previous nurse. Maya's eyes brightened, as she realized that the world she now lived in seemed entirely different from the world she had live before. The names of countries in this world also sound very foreign for the girl. Maya held her breath in anticipation. She really seemed to have been reborn. Ah, no. She had been reborn and moved to a new world this time.

In her previous life, Maya had indeed read the novel of rebirth and transmigration before chaos finally occurred, and she almost forgot about everything. But never once did Maya think that something like this would actually happen to her. However with her current situation, Maya had no other choice but to think that she really had indeed been reborn and transmigrated at this point. Maya clearly remembered that she had died in her previous life. She was not delusional nor dreaming about that zombie-infested life. She lived and grew up there. All the pain, the fear, the anger she felt had been real before. Maya had spent her life living and fighting with zombies, before she finally died and moved to this safe world.

After Maya tried to accept the speculation, she gently finally let out a long breath. Her tensed emotions gradually began to relax. Maya was grateful she did not experience this supernatural event at night, or Maya might be more wary of seeing the hospital environment, which is usually relatively empty at night.

With great anticipation, Maya finally put away the newspapers before she got up to go to the open window in her room. Previously Maya was still wary because she still had to find out who, and where she was currently living. But seeing a completely different world, Maya subconsciously ran a bit as her eyes stared in amazement at the people walking around the hospital.

Maya lives in the same year as her old world. Although in this world, there are no zombies roaming all over the world. Humans still live freely everywhere. And to be certain, there is fresh food in this new world!

"Thank God ... Thank you for giving me a second chance after the torment of five years that I previously lived ...."

Maya prayed earnestly after she could confirm that she really had transmigrated this time. It didn't matter, even if she had to live together with the trash family for now. Being able to breathe and live without fear in every second she spent, was more than enough for Maya, who had lived in such harsh times.

But her smile slowly faded as she recalled her old life. Maya is curious, whether humanity has managed to find a way out of their problems after she left the video of her death or not. Whether Ben's family is okay, or whether the people in the safe zone will believe the man or not. Maya didn't want her death would only end in vain if the family died after her departure.

Maya has indeed been given a second chance to enjoy her life better. But that did not make her forget, to pray for the people from her old life who had given her some kindness in that cruel world.

Maya swears, she will live her life well from now on. Since the first, Maya always really likes to eat. In this peaceful world, Maya actually wants to be a chef rather than an impromptu scientist like in her previous life. Maya would like to make and taste lots of delicious food, instead of having to carry a gun everywhere in every second.

Maya had many plans recorded in her brain. But her first goal, was to rest as much as she could, so she could recover quickly and get out of the room with this pungent medicinal smell.

Sleeping on the patient's bed, made Maya involuntarily sigh in pleasure. Even before the strange meteor fell to earth, Maya always came from a poor family who even had trouble sleeping on a soft bed. Her life after the zombies came was even worse. Just being able to sleep on the sofa in the car has been incredibly difficult for Maya so far. Suddenly being able to sleep in a bed that she thought was soft felt really great. Maya's eyes involuntarily went heavy, as her body could no longer hold on after she was forced to think in a state that was still sore and tired.

Maya easily fell asleep after that. Experiencing a dream for the first time in years can only live in full vigilance.
