“How did you know about the marriage and its annulment?” Pa Walter asked

They vacillated, and Sir Jackson requested, “David,”

“Yes, boss.”

“Get the cat o' nine tails for me.”

“All right, boss,” he accepted, and walked towards the car.

“All of you, pull off your shirts?” Jackson ordered his children. Instantly, Clifford, who was the youngest, and could not bear the punishment, spilled the secret, “I will confess, dad”

Jackson expected that, but ignored him. Soon, David returned with the whip, and handed it over to him.

“Pull off your shirts, all of your shirts, now,” he ordered with a stern look. Straight away, they began to unbutton their shirts, but Clifford wished to declare himself innocent. He looked at Hazel, before he looked at his father, and reported, “We were eavesdropping on you, grandpa.”
