“No!” Clara said quickly, reaching for his hand. But he pulled away, standing up abruptly.

“Then what are you saying?” he demanded, his voice rising. “Because from where I’m standing, it sounds like you’re ready to throw in the towel at the first sign of trouble.”

Clara stood too, her own frustration bubbling to the surface. “It’s not just trouble, Adrian! It’s my entire life falling apart. My marriage, my family, my reputation—all of it is in shambles. And you… you’re acting like it’s just another bump in the road!”

Adrian’s expression darkened. “Is that what you think? That I don’t care about what you’re going through?”

She lowered the phone, her hand shaking visibly. Adrian’s arm tightened around her, a solid presence in the storm of her emotions.“She hung up on me,” Clara said, her voice hollow. “She won’t even listen.”Adrian pressed a kiss to her temple. “I’m sorry, Clara. But you’re not alone in this. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere.”Clara leaned into him, drawing strength from his warmth. But as she closed her eyes, all she could see were those grainy images on the news, her secret laid bare for the world to judge. And she wondered, in the darkest corner of her heart, if anything would ever be the same again. The paparazzi were like vultures, circling Adrian’s apartment building with an air of predatory anticipation. Clara could see them from the window, their cameras at the ready, poised to capture any sign of movement. The constant click and whirr of their equipment was audible even from inside, a relentless reminder of the scrutiny they were under.Adrian stood beside her, his arm aro

  • ENTANGLED AFFAIRS   LOST IN A VOID

“Shit,” Clara whispered, scanning the article. There were photos of her entering and leaving Adrian’s building, grainy but unmistakable.Adrian’s hand tightened around hers. “We’ll figure this out. Together.”Clara’s chest felt hollow. “How? Everyone knows now.”“We’ll face it together. Okay?”She nodded numbly. “Okay.” But as she looked at the photos, she knew nothing would ever be the same again.“Good morning, and welcome to our morning broadcast,” the news anchor said, her voice sharp as glass. “Breaking news: Clara Davenport, wife of Julian Davenport, CEO of Davenport Industries, has been embroiled in a scandalous affair with Adrian Blackwood, CEO of Blackwood Enterprises and longtime rival of Julian. Pictures surfaced early this morning showing Clara entering and exiting Blackwood’s penthouse apartment. Sources close to the couple confirm the affair has been ongoing for months.”The screen cut to a blurry image of Clara in sunglasses and a hoodie, her face partially obscured as

Adrian slipped two fingers inside her, his mouth still working her clit. He pumped his fingers, his tongue swirling around the sensitive bud."Come for me," he growled against her skin.Clara cried out as pleasure washed over her. Her body shook as Adrian continued to lick and suck. When her breathing slowed, Adrian moved up her body, claiming her lips in a searing kiss. "You taste amazing," he whispered.Clara flushed, still breathless from her orgasm. "So do you," she replied.Adrian smiled before kissing her again. Then he reached into the drawer, pulling out a condom and rolling it on.Clara spread her legs wider, her body ready for him. "I want you inside me," she murmured.Adrian positioned himself, pushing in slowly. "Fuck," he gasped. "You’re so tight."Clara moaned, her body adjusting to his girth. "You feel so good," she whispered.Adrian began to move, his thrusts slow at first. "I can’t get enough of you," he growled.Clara wrapped her legs around him, pulling him deeper.

  • ENTANGLED AFFAIRS   SMOKE, MIRRORS AND CONSEQUENCES

The sun was just beginning to ride behind the tall glass towers of the city, casting golden light across the sky.Clara stood on the balcony of Adrian's penthouse, wearing his oversized shirt, hair messy from sleep and eyes haunted from fear, she ended going back to where she ran from. The sound of traffic far below couldn't compete with the thunderous panic pounding in her chest."You okay?" Adrian asked softly, stepping outside with two mugs of coffee. His voice always sounded so sweet, even when he was serious.Clara turned slowly. "Should I be?"He handed her the mug. "No regrets. We agreed on that."She took the coffee but didn't drink. "It's not that simple.""It could be. If you let it."She laughed bitterly. "You think I can just forget I’m married to Julian Davenport?""You think that marriage means anything anymore?"Clara looked away. "To the media, it does. To the world."Adrian stepped closer. "And to you?""It used to mean survival." She whispered. "Now, it just means sur

“Anything.”“If this explodes… if Julian makes it ugly…”“It already was ugly,” Adrian interrupted. “You just kept trying to make it look pretty.”Silence.“I don’t want to hurt you,” she whispered.“You didn’t.”“I still might.”He pulled her closer. “I’ll take the risk.”She turned her head, looked up at him. “Why?”“Because you’re worth it.”Her throat tightened. “We’ll think about the consequences tomorrow.”He nodded. “Tomorrow.”Clara closed her eyes and breathed him in.Tonight, there was only him.Only this moment.Only the truth she could no longer deny. The penthouse was quiet, the kind of quiet Julian Davenport had come to cherish. It wasn’t peace. It wasn’t comfort. It was control. He swirled the drink in his hand, untouched. His gaze lingered on the skyline, tall, proud, ruthless. Just like him.A soft knock came from the door. He didn’t turn.“Yes?” he said coolly.Elliot, his assistant, stepped in. “The PR team has released the dinner photos, sir. Your dinner with Mrs.

unzipping her dress slowly. It fell to the floor around her feet.He pulled back slightly to look at her, her skin glowing in the light. “Fuck,” he murmured.Clara flushed. “Is that a good or bad thing?”“A very, very good thing,” he replied, holding her hands toward the bedroom.Clara pulled him closer. “Can I ask you something?”“Mm-hmm.”“Will you make me forget everything tonight?”He rested his head to her neck. “I’ll try my goddamn best.”She gasped as his mouth moved over her skin. “Will you say my name?”“Over and over,” he promised, pushing her gently onto the bed.Clara sat up, reaching for him. “And will you still want me in the morning?”Adrian kissed her hard, his body pressing her down into the mattress. “Clara,” he murmured against her lips, “you have no idea.”They fell into each other, the last strength of restraint breaking between them. Clothes were removed , skin touching skin, hands gripping and mouths claiming. There was no room for doubt, no space for fear, only

He leaned closer. “Clara, I see a woman stuck in a golden cage pretending she’s okay. I see strength buried under designer labels. I see someone who’s been treated like a trophy for too long.”She swallowed. “You don’t know me.”“I know enough to want to.”Clara looked away. “You shouldn’t say things like that.”“Why not?”“Because I might believe you.”Adrian reached across the table, his fingers brushing hers. “Maybe you should.”Her voice came out barely above a whisper. “Julian will ruin you if he finds out, he doesn't care about me but he cares about his family name.”“I’m not scared of Julian nor his name.”“Well, I am,” she said. “Not of what he’ll do to me—but what he’ll do to you. You don’t understand, Adrian. He doesn’t play fair.”Adrian gave a half-smile. “Good. Neither do I.”“Don’t joke.”“I’m not. I’ve dealt with men like him before.”She pulled her hand back. “This is dangerous. We shouldn’t even be sitting here.”“But we are,” he said. “Because you texted me. Not anyo
