TWO DAYS LATER...
“PAPA?” Lara couldn’t comprehend the sudden rush of intense fear that flooded her as she opened their front door and found her stepfather Rodolfo looking distressed.
“Sweetheart, go hide; they might take you!” Rodolfo urgently pushed her into the house and drew her into her room.
Lara’s fear deepened at his words. “W-What do you mean? W-Who will take me?” she stammered, her chest heavy with a mix of emotions.
“Don’t ask too many questions, just listen to Papa, hurry up!”
She had no choice but to obey. She concealed herself in her bedroom, seeking refuge behind an antique wardrobe. Despite her anxiety, she could still hear heated arguments and harsh words being exchanged, directed at her father.
“Are you going to pay, or should I just kill you?” a man’s furious voice echoed.
With trembling steps, Lara left her hiding spot and cautiously made her way towards the closed door, careful to avoid making any noise on the creaking wooden floor.
Peeking through the small gap in the door, she witnessed three men surrounding her stepfather. The leader of the group held a gun, his angry gaze fixed on Rodolfo.
“Answer me! Will you pay, or should I just kill you?” the man yelled angrily at her father once more.
Whatever debts her father owed, Lara couldn’t fathom how that could justify turning his life into a matter of life and death. But her horror deepened when she heard the click of the trigger.
Driven by adrenaline and panic, Lara burst out of her room, her voice choked with tears.
“Stop! Don’t kill my Papa!” she cried out, tears streaming down her face as she ran and threw herself into Rodolfo’s arms, who looked shocked by her sudden appearance.
“Lara! What did you do? Didn’t I tell you to hide?” Rodolfo’s anger was evident, but she paid him no mind.
“No matter how much my father owes you, I’m willing to pay. If you want, take me with you! Just promise me you won’t hurt him anymore,” she implored, her voice quivering as she held onto her father tightly, her face stained with tears.
“Lara!” her father called out.
“That’s an interesting proposition,” the man with the gun smirked. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier that you have a beautiful daughter who could fetch a good price, Ompong?” He grinned with a sinister edge, gripping Lara’s face tightly in his hand.
“Boss, that’s a possibility,” another man chimed in.
“Yes, we can get a substantial sum for her,” the third man added.
Lara’s focus shifted from the unfolding dialogue as the man with the gun started to drag her away from their house. Her father’s cries and pleas faded as they moved farther from him.
“Papa, take care of yourself. I promise I’ll come back for you,” she whispered, her voice breaking, just before the car’s window was shut, isolating her from the world she once knew.
THREE DAYS LATER...
Lara’s hand trembled as she held a red lipstick, trying to apply it to her lips. She never thought it would come to this. She never imagined that her desperate attempt to save her father from certain death would lead her down this path of prostitution.
After the three men took her, they sold her to a woman named Nati for a hundred thousand pesos. Although her father owed less than ten thousand pesos to the trio who abducted her, they managed to fetch a hefty price for her innocence.
Nati informed her that a significant portion of her earnings would go directly to the woman as her “manager.” Tears welled up in her eyes.
If only those men had given her a chance to explain, she could have found a way to settle her father’s debt without resorting to this.
But there was no turning back.
Lara was a woman of honor. Her mother had been a waitress, but she had always advised Lara against following in her footsteps. She encouraged her to aim for a better life, and that’s exactly what Lara had been striving for.
Sometimes, however, no matter how much one avoids wrongdoing, no matter how hard one tries to resist temptation, circumstances force you to make difficult choices.
“Hurry up, Venus! Your clients are waiting. Make me proud, and don’t embarrass me!” Nati’s voice echoed outside the dressing room.
When Lara didn’t reply, Nati continued, her tone a mix of excitement and cynicism.
“Guess what? You’re in luck. Your first client is incredibly wealthy. And not to mention, he’s quite the looker, so I can assure you that your innocence won’t be in vain – it’ll be worth it,” Nati laughed loudly, her words laden with mockery.
Lara gazed at herself in the mirror, her eyes heavy with sorrow. As angry as she felt, she realized there was nothing she could do. She chose to remain silent.
“They paid a hefty sum for you. You’ll get a generous cut. And if he’s pleased with your performance, he might even give you a handsome tip. Who knows? He might become a regular customer.”
The way Nati spoke, it was clear she was well-acquainted with the mechanics of this profession.
But all Lara felt was a simmering rage.
Nati had even given her a new name, a standard practice in their line of work. Lara’s real name was her own choice when it came to future clients.
Swallowing hard, Lara left the dressing room through the back door, her eyes landing on a large box that Nati claimed was a prop. She let out a soft, bitter laugh. She never thought this would become her reality.
She had only seen women emerge from boxes on television before, masked and dancing. Now, she would be one of them. The pain and resentment tore at her heart.
It wasn’t anger she felt toward her father; she was more furious with the three men who had bartered her as payment for his debt. Nati’s role in this, too, fueled her anger – exploiting others for her personal gain, regardless of the consequences to families.
As Lara exited the club, her hands gripping a red lipstick, she knew her life had changed forever. Her heart is heavy with indignation, she couldn’t help but lament her situation. Despite her resolve to lead an honorable life, she found herself ensnared in a world of darkness and desperation.
"Are you nervous?" That's what Lara asked her husband Joaquin after she fixed his tie. Joaquin sighed and then looked at her lovingly. "Mom, Dad, let's go?" Quin was the youngest of their two sons. "Okay, son," Lara said then looked up at her husband's handsome face again. "Come on and your daughter might think that you don't want to walk her to the altar," she joked to her husband who didn't even answer as she could see the still slightly sad on his face. It was the wedding day of their oldest daughter, Callie. She understands her husband's feelings because Callie is their only daughter. In over twenty years they have been blessed with two sons. Caleb and the youngest, Joaquin Antoni III, who looks just like his grandfather, Joaquin Sr. After the incident at the beach resort, just like Joaquin said, he fixed everything. Everyone who deserves to be punished has been punished. Robert and Selena were there, even the middleman Boying who really set the cottage on fire. Cortez wh
"WOW, Daddy it's so beautiful here!"That's what Callie said cheerfully then ran towards their family's private cottage."We can stay at the beach house, it's just that it's farther from the beach," Joaquin told her then picked up Callie who had tripped several times on the sand because of her running."It's okay here at least until tomorrow. Then the next day we'll stay at the beach house," Lara answered then headed towards their cottage."By the way, where is Nanny Loring?" Lara asked after she opened the cottage door."Already at home preparing food. Wait, where do you want to eat, baby? Here or there in the beach house?” Joaquin asked his daughter."Here," Callie replied.Lara laughed at her daughter's reaction. "Oh, put your daughter down. She's a big girl so she shouldn't be carried around anymore," Lara said to Joaquin."Even if the day came that she gets married, she is still my princess," said Joaquin kissing his daughter.Callie giggled at that and then willingly let her fat
"WHY is that, Robert? Why is your man so slow? Why does that girl still look happy now?" Selena asked Robert angrily the night they met to talk about the favor she was asking for."I also do not know. And one more thing, why are you so eager to take revenge? The woman is already married, isn't she? Maybe you're just being mistaken in your suspicions?" said Robert to her. That's when Selena dropped the wine glass she was holding on the table in annoyance. "You are so annoying. Why don't you just do what I say? I have to get revenge on that girl. I have to get Ramil back!” she insisted."Stop it! You must learn how to wait and don't yell at me!” Robert yells back at her.At that point, Selena sat down and bowed her head crying. She stopped herself from crying, but because of the effect of the alcohol she had already consumed, she failed to do so."Why is it that no man wants to love me?" she said sobbing. At that point, Robert told sat next to her and then hugged her tightly. “I love yo
Lara did not expect Joaquin to refer to their original destination as his home in Baguio. The house where they spent their honeymoon. “Ah so, you really plan to take me here? Why?” she asked smiling and then eagerly traveled her sight to the whole house. Joaquin shrugged his shoulders and then lowered the suitcases he was carrying. "Because when we first came here, I didn't tell you the truth, didn't we?" he replied then hugged her tightly from behind. Lara was thrilled with that gesture so she turned to face her husband. After that, she lovingly wrapped her arms around his neck. "Yes. And also, I can still remember what you told me before. That you wish you can give me everything I want?” “Yeah. I told you that because I can't really give you everything since you know something different. Just in case I don't want you to be surprised where I get it all.” Lara nodded and with her eyes glistening that was when she pinched Joaquin’s perfect nose. “You don't know how much I love
Joaquin was able to possess her easily without leaving that place. And she could say that her calm husband whom she was always with whenever the fight between the two of them was just starting, no longer existed those moments. But what right does she have to complain if she asked for it from her husband?"You want this, don't you, huh?" he asked her as he pounded her sex hard and with full force.Lara could hardly breathe properly at that moment. But she is the one who likes it so she knows the same as what Joaquin told her before. She needs to face the consequences of her actions. So that's what she did today. She endures the delicious effects of Joaquin's cruel claim of her."Yes, oh I want this. I want you," she said, clinging tightly to Joaquin's neck and then kissing her husband firmly on the lips.Joaquin quickly responded to her with a passionate kiss then he just continued that style of claiming her. Until he seemed tired and pulled out from inside her his angry readiness.Joa
Her husband's silence at that moment was strange for Lara. And because he said it was a surprise where they were going, she didn't ask anymore. But that was just what surprised her when Joaquin took her to a familiar building. That's why her chest quickly swelled. She remembers that building. It was the hotel where she first gave herself to her husband a few years ago. She couldn't understand and explain how hard her chest was pounding at that moment. But despite everything, she still remained calm and did not ask any questions. Despite the fact that he really wanted to know from her husband what was really going on and why they were there. When they got out of the car, only then did Joaquin speak."Our destination is not really here, sweetheart. We have something important to do, so let's stop by," he told her as they walked towards the reception.Lara didn't come closer and let her husband talk to the receptionist. That's why she didn't hear anything else they talked about. It may h
