MasukRule #1: Stay away from Vincent Alistair. One of the mistakes Hazel made was trying to create a dispute between Katherine and Vincent. Rule #2: Never make an enemy of Katherine. I still remember how Hazel died but I never got to see who the killer is. Whoever it was, I believe he is in this world. Rule #3: Never try to do anything to meddle in the story. Remain a side character and continue to enjoy life. *** When I transmigrated into my favourite novel as the fake heiress who had already lost her life, I had one clear mission: run far away from Vincent Alistair, stay clear of my sister, and live a life of pure luxury. I also had sixty days to change my fate and make sure I didn't die a second time. But when I told Vincent I would never marry him, I didn't expect him to suddenly show interest in me. Now the arrogant, ruthless billionaire is hellbent on making me his wife, insisting he fell in love with me at first sight. Every scheme I use to escape him fails, and every day I spend by his side makes my heart betray me a little more. Meanwhile, my sister, the true heiress and the original female lead, looks at me as if she is ready to kill me. The more the plot changes, the more I realise something is wrong with this world. If I fall for the male lead, will I be saved, or will I lose my life all over again?

I covered my mouth in shock, my eyes staring at the screen. I can't believe Hazel, the villain in the book I am reading, eventually died, and I am not satisfied that she never explained to the female lead why she behaved that way. I quickly went to the author comment section and there were a lot of comments from readers like me. {She deserves to die. She is such a dumb character.} {I had hoped that she would change but she remained adamant till the end. I love the fact that she died a painful death.} Another reader commented. “Fool!” I yelled and pushed the popcorn aside before typing my own comment. “Author, you did a good job. She was so annoying throughout the book and nothing satisfies me more than her death. Can we at least know who poisoned her drink?” I clicked the send box and the comment was published. I pushed my laptop aside as I made my way to the balcony. I guess I will have to do nothing throughout the whole day until tomorrow's chapter is aired. My name is Annabelle and I am suffering from heart disease. I lost my parents a few years back to a car accident and I am the only one who survived. My aunt raised me but I had to run away from home because she had spent too much on my treatment. I spent most of my time reading romance novels and then I stumbled upon “UNDER THE SHADOW OF MY SISTER.” I fell in love with the storyline. The female lead is a quiet girl who has a terrible sister. She is actually the true heiress, but her sister, Hazel, who is the fake, changed instantly when she learned that the female lead is the biological daughter of her parents. I hated her character so much because she did stupid things. What happens to living a luxury life even if the parents you live with aren't your biological parents? Instead, she schemes against her sister and the male lead despises her so much, which eventually leads to her death. I won't be surprised if I find out from tomorrow's episode that it was the male lead who eventually killed her. I took a sip of the wine but suddenly, the glass slipped from my hand as I felt a very intense pain in my chest. It came out of nowhere, like a knife twisting deep inside me. My heart pounded hard and fast, then slowed scarily. I could barely breathe. I forced my way back, almost crawling to the sitting room. Every step hurt and my legs felt weak. The room spun a little and I knew if I fell then, that would be the end. These episodes happened because of my weak heart. I was given pills to help with the pain. If I can find the bottle, then maybe I will survive today. I had visited the doctor and they had told me to try to avoid things that would make me get too excited. I saw the bottle on the table close to my laptop. I reached out with shaking hands. Just a little farther. My fingers brushed the bottle, but they slipped and everything went blurry. The bottle rolled farther away. I fell hard against the chair. The wood dug into my side and I gasped as the pain in my chest got worse. It felt like my heart was being crushed. I couldn't get enough air. Tears filled my eyes and slipped down. Death was right there in front of me. I could feel it. Cold and close. I reached again, stretching my arm as far as I could. My hand trembled. A single tear slipped down my cheek and fell onto the floor, and in the middle of everything, the screen of my laptop was suddenly turned on. Notifications began to drop and I think it was from the novel. The author has probably replied to my comment. The pain was too much. My heart gave one last weak beat. Then another. Then nothing. The room grew dark. I couldn't move. I couldn't call for help. The hurt from my sick heart finally won. Everything faded into pitch black. But it's as if I am still in the room. [Are you ready to change your fate?] A robotic voice boomed through my laptop. [Annabelle, 22 years. Cause of death: heart attack. You are hereby given a new identity. Hazel Monroe. You have just 60 days to change your fate.] And I heard the ringing sound. What is going on? This isn't hell! ****** “Hazel, this is your sister. You two will have to live together from now on.” I heard a not-so-familiar voice say, and my eyes fluttered open. Where am I? I asked no one in particular, as I scanned the room. It's a luxurious room with a beautiful couch, a stunning chandelier, and a large TV screen. This is not my room. My gaze fell on a woman who seemed to be the same age as me. And there was a couple sitting on one of the couches in the room. My mouth opened in shock when I saw the familiarity. They looked exactly like my parents. But it can't be. My parents are dead. We don't own this house. “Where am I?” I repeated the question in my mind, my heart racing but it's not as a result of my weak heart; it's because it seems as though I am probably dreaming and at the same time, it looks like reality. I remember my heart acting up; I remember reaching for the bottle that contained my medicine and… “Hazel, aren't you going to welcome your sister?” My eyes widened in shock when I heard the woman talk to me again. I stood up from the couch in shock as I walked towards them. They looked so much like my parents. Wait. This is not real. What did they just call me? Hazel? It can't be. I walked back, shaking my head. There is no way this is real. Hazel? The same annoying character I read in the novel? “What is today's date?” I asked and my parents looked at each other. “Are you okay, Hazel? Tell me what is wrong,” Mother asked as she walked towards me. “We aren't trying to create confusion or anything. She is your sister and we didn't know she was alive until now,” Mother said. “My sister?” I asked and my eyes fell on the lady in front of me. “This is Katherine,” she said, and now everything suddenly makes sense. Katherine Monroe, the female lead of my favourite novel. There is no way I woke up in my favourite novel after my death. This is the novel I have been reading for the past two months; I know every character. I recognised the way the author described Hazel's parents apartment. [Welcome to your second life, Annabelle. You have 60 days to change your fate.] I heard the robotic voice again. It seems hard to believe at first but now, I guess I was transmigrated into a novel. I looked at Katherine and my adopted parents, who looked exactly like my parents. And I remember this scene from the novel. This is when Hazel's parents discover that their lost child returns. This made Hazel turn against Katherine. Hazel had disagreed with her parents and asked them if they were sure that Katherine really belonged to them. Hazel had asked her adopted parents if they were going to abandon her, now that she was no longer their real child. If this is my chance to avoid death, I am going to risk everything to make sure I survive. I walked towards Katherine, who looked at me with so much confidence. “Kate? It's nice meeting you, sister. Welcome back,” I said and my parents looked at me, not believing that I could say that. Of course, Hazel is the spoiled heiress, a very annoying character who remains unforgiving. “Same here, Hazel.” “It's good that you two reconciled. I will be throwing a party for Katherine tomorrow. I want everyone to know my child is back,” Father said. If I remember correctly, this is where Hazel and Katherine met the male lead, Vincent Alistair. “Father, I suddenly have a running stomach. I will be right back,” I said and quickly excused myself. I climbed up the stairs and went into Hazel's room. When I got inside the room, it was arranged the same way the author described it. This is not real. God! I looked at my reflection in the mirror and I looked the same. The only difference is, I am wearing a luxury dress. The necklace is damn expensive and I have makeup on. “Hey, tell me what to do.” “What would happen if I escaped my death?” I asked, hoping the invisible robot would reply but there was no reply. 60 days to change my fate. Two months to help Hazel escape death. I sat down on the chair and picked up the pen and book. Rule #1: Stay away from Vincent Alistair. I dropped the pen and smiled. This is a second chance for me. A second chance to change my fate and if this world is indeed real, I want to remain here forever. I touched my chest and it seemed to be beating regularly. Could it be that I am perfectly fine with no heart disease? I heard a knock on the door and I closed the book. “Coming,” I said and walked towards the door. I opened it and Katherine was standing outside. “Come in,” I said and she stepped inside. She is indeed as beautiful as the author describes. In the novel, there was no scene like this. Katherine never came to Hazel's room. “Thank you,” she said, looking around the room. “My parents told me you have been the one taking care of them. I know this might be shocking to you but the woman who adopted me was the one who told me everything. She was one of the nurses working in the hospital where I was born.” Katherine explained. “It's fine. I'm actually glad you reconciled with them.” “We will be seeing each other from now on. You are coming tomorrow, right?” Katherine asked. I hesitated for a moment before replying. “Yes, of course I will be there,” I said and she smiled.VINCENT The moment Hazel left my office, a small smile graced the corner of my lips. Maybe she thought I was hell-bent on making her pay for the repair because I wanted to punish her. But the truth is, it's just an excuse. I have heard rumours about her. They had told me she was a spoiled princess, but there were days I had to sneak out just to take a look at her. My father had told me I was going to get married to her and out of curiosity, I had watched her from afar. I had already considered annulling the agreement but when I met her again, I knew I might have been wrong.Maybe the rumours aren't all true. If she was rude as they say, I am sure she wouldn't have released her business card, knowing fully well I would contact her. And now, with the way she acted when I asked if she was going to marry me, she had turned down the offer quickly but the truth is, I knew what to do. The dinner date is just an excuse to draw her closer.I heard the door being pushed open and Knox came in.
HAZELThe next morning, I took my car and left the mansion. It wasn't hard to find Vincent's company since I used Google Maps. My car pulled in front of his company. I checked my reflection in the rearview mirror before stepping out of the car. I made my way to the entrance and walked inside. The interior design is actually stunning and it looks beautiful. There was a security guard standing just beside the door, so I walked towards him.“Can you tell me where the CEO office is? I actually have a meeting with him today. It's my first day here.” I told the man and he didn't waste time giving me a reply. “Just climb the stairs and take the elevator to the 9th floor. You will see a secretary and she will direct you to his office.” The man replied and I quickly offered a thank you before ascending the stairs. I took the elevator with the other staff.“Did you hear that he just sacked his personal assistant this morning? The girl must have tried to throw herself at him.” One of the staff
HAZELKatherine and I followed Mother until we got to where Vincent was with Father. In the novel, Vincent's father is actually close to Father."These are my two daughters. Katherine and Hazel." Father spoke first, and Vincent's gaze fell on me. He has beautiful amber eyes, just like the novel describes. I sucked in a breath when I realised his gaze stayed on me longer before it fell on Katherine."I'm Katherine," Katherine said with a smile, and Vincent held her hand and gave her a light kiss on the back of it.Katherine was definitely pleased to see him too. He is so attractive and I cannot deny that.Good. Just good. At least I could see the chemistry between them, but it's a bit sad that even in this life, Hazel would not be able to win Vincent's heart."Nice meeting you." I heard Vincent say, and he turned to face me again. He seemed to have recognised me. Now I can tell that I will not be able to afford the fee for the damage I caused to the car. Vincent is a fucking billionair
HAZEL I already accepted my new identity as Hazel Monroe. Though it still felt like a dream, what if it is not? I checked my reflection in the mirror as I twirled in the blue dress. It hugged my curves, accentuating my wide hips and small waist. No more burying myself inside my room, watching my life fade away. No more wasting my life away doing nothing. Now I can do anything I want. I can go on trips and eat my favourite dessert. I picked up my purse and opened it. There is a black card inside. “Yes!” I screamed in happiness, twirling the card between my fingers. “Dreams do come true,” I squealed before straightening my dress again. I checked my reflection one last time before walking out of the room. Father is going to introduce Katherine to his people today. I made my way downstairs and I found them already dressed. I still can't shake the feeling that I could see my parents again even if this is not real. Even if I am not their daughter, I am glad I could see them again. “Are
