>>FOUR YEARS LATER
Seated comfortably in a plush swivel chair, a man exuded a cold aura as continued to gaze at the photo in his hand. His emerald orbs remained fixed on it as he felt his heart prick him painfully, taking in the features of the lady in the picture. She was a young woman with long auburn hair that perfectly complemented her hazel eyes. Her genuine smile radiating through the picture filled the man's heart with warmth. He missed her. He missed the woman in the photo terribly. This man was no other person than Jordan Salvador, and the woman in the picture was no other than his beautiful ex-wife, Alexander McKenna. Jordan continued gazing at the picture regretfully as he felt as though his heart was being stabbed with a sharp knife, replaying the wrong deeds he had done Alexa four years ago. He regretted everything. He wished he could turn back the hands of the clock and prevent it all from happening in the first place. Though he had been searching all over the country for Alexa for the past two years, he still hadn't received any positive feedback. It was as if Alexa had disappeared into thin air. Every day and night, Jordan's callous actions plagued him each time he recalled how badly he treated Alexa, especially when he had abandoned her at the hospital after the painful loss, to marry his childhood sweetheart, Luciana. Jordan realized he should never have done that. Luciana was nothing other than a liar and a gold digger who invaded his life for her own motives. Jordan regretted ever trusting her words in the first place, especially when she had acclaimed her bastard child as his. He felt his heart clenched tight, recalling Luciana's deceit. Although he had only divorced Luciana two weeks ago after he discovered the truth, Jordan wished he had punished her some more. Luciana was the sole author of his current misery. He never would've changed his behavior towards his lovely wife had it been Luciana never come back into his life. Jordan deeply regretted his mistakes. It pained him even more as he had no idea where Alexa was or how she had been coping all these years. All he ever wished for was to find her again and apologize for his stupid mistakes. The sound of Jordan's telephone on the desk disrupted his thoughts, causing him to instinctively pocket the photo in his suit pocket as he made to answer the phone. Bringing the phone to his ear, he spoke. "Jordan Salvador," "Boss," The desperate voice of a male came through the phone, causing Jordan's nerves to fray in anticipation as he recognized the voice of his aid. "Kris. What's up? How did it go?" He asked desperately, hoping for some optimistic response from him concerning the search for Alexa. "I regret to inform you, boss. But it's another .. end. We couldn't find her in Puwak City too. We're on our way back, boss. I'm very sorry. We just have one more place to cover before it clocks twenty cities that we've looked in so far." Jordan felt his heart plummet into his stomach as he clutched the telephone tightly, disappointment and heartbreak coursing through him. Not having anything to say, he hung up, setting the phone back in its position. Jordan brought his hands to his head and held it firmly. 'What have you done to yourself, Jordan? What gave you the hope that you'd ever find her again after what you did to her? Perhaps, this is her punishing you.' Jordan heard his inner voice scold him and he couldn't help but agree. However, if truly this was Alexa punishing him for his betrayal, it was working just fine. As Jordan made to rise, his office door flung open unexpectedly. His cold eyes darted towards the entrance to see who had dared to walk into his office without his consent. He remained seated as he witnessed two men, clad in police uniforms walk inside. This brought a frown to Jordan's face as he couldn't comprehend what was going on. The two men approached Jordan's desk; in one hand, there was a sheet of paper. "Mr. Salvador," "What the fuck is going on? What do you think you're doing barging into my office like that?" Jordan snapped, his annoyance palpable. One of the officers apologized. "Forgive us, Mr. Salvador. But we have a warrant for your arrest." Jordan's brows scrunched up in further confusion. Had he just heard the man correctly? "Mr. Salvador, please cooperate," The officer uttered, interrupting Jordan's conflicting and confused thoughts. Jordan's eyes darted to his in demand. "I don't understand. What do you mean by arrest? What are you talking about?" Wordlessly, the man extended his hand toward Jordan and offered him the note. Jordan quickly snatched it from him, his eyes skimming through his context. Shock washed over Jordan as he couldn't believe his eyes. He couldn't believe the crime he was being accused of. Jordan redirected his gaze to the officer. "What do you mean I have been charged for the embezzlement of my own company's funds?" The bulky officer replied as he prompted the other to go handcuff Jordan. "Please, you'll have to come to the station with us, Mr. Salvador. You have the right to remain silent or anything you say will be used against you in the court of law. You also have the right to an attorney," the second officer said, standing before Jordan as he took his hands. Though Jordan was shocked, to say the least, he decided to heed their words and allowed the officer to cuff him. A few minutes later, the two officers and the newly arrested were walking outside. The paparazzi were there as they captured Jordan's arrest, throwing inquiries at him as to why this had happened. "CEO Salvador, can you tell us your crime?" Jordan answered the public before getting into the Police van. "I have committed no crime, be rest assured. I'm sure this is some kind of misunderstanding. It would get sorted out soon." He reassured, hopping into the back seat of the van."Mommy, are you going to be seeing Daddy soon?" Blair asked her mother as they began heading towards the airport terminal. They had just landed a few minutes ago and they were currently strutting towards the terminal, where Alexa knew Elena would be waiting for her. She texted her a few minutes ago of their arrival and Elena had reassured her that she was already at the airport terminal.Alexa looked down at her child, who was holding her hand firmly. She offered Blair a soft smile and nodded curtly, although unsure if they would really be seeing Jordan today. "Sure, baby, you'll be seeing Daddy soon,""I can't wait, Mommy," Blair grinned, displaying a small set of teeth that caused Alexa's heart to melt at her cuteness.Atlas also chimed in, grinning from ear to ear. "Me too, Mommy! I missed Daddy so much and I can't wait to tell him about my girlfriend in school."Alexa chuckled with amusement at her son's antics. It was true; even Atlas had found love in some girl at the new schoo
**ONE YEAR LATER**"Oh my goodness, Alexa, I'm so excited!" Elena's thrilled voice resonated through the phone as Alexa clutched the phone to her ear.A smile spread across her face as she absorbed Elena's excitement. Even though she couldn't see the woman closely, she could imagine the happiness that was currently radiating from her. Elena sounded so thrilled."I'll be at the airport, Alexa, I swear. I'll leave work. I'll wait for you till you touch down. Gosh, I can't wait!" She screeched enthusiastically.Alexa couldn't help but chuckle as she absorbed Elena's promise. She couldn't blame her; she was also dying to see her just as much as Elena couldn't wait to see her. How much time has passed since they last saw each other? One whole year. That's right, the last time Alexa had seen Elena was when she had left the country a year ago after what happened with Tyler and Jordan. It had taken her six whole months to gather herself before she began even reaching out to Elena again.Elen
Jordan was distraught as he rang Alexa for the second time and there was still no response. He checked his messages to see if she had replied to his texts but also there was no response. A frown crossed his face as he couldn't comprehend Alexa's sudden change. He was worried and he wished he was back in the city so he could visit her. However, he was currently out of town as he had gone on a business trip as the new head of JS Enterprises. He had merely concluded the meeting when he decided to call her again. However, all of his calls went straight to voicemail. Worry gnawed at Jordan as he thought something might have happened. His heart constricted painfully at the idea that Tyler must have returned to Alexa's home to confront her. What if that was the reason she wasn't taking any of his calls again? What if something had happened, and maybe Tyler had overreacted like before? These considerations had Jordan's heart racing frantically as worry consumed him. Checking his messages one
'Baby, you haven't been taking my calls, I hope you're doing okay. I'll be coming later. I love you.' Alexa stared at Jordan's message for the umpteenth feeling a clog in her throat as she read it. It was true; she hadn't been taking his calls and had been completely avoidant since what happened with Tyler. Tyler still hadn't been taking her calls nor replying to any of her apology messages. Alexa was fazed and worried. Although she never wanted things to end like this, she felt this was best for everyone."Hey, are you good?" Elena's voice disrupted Alexa's thoughts as she asked her friend with concern laden in her tone. Alexa, who had been sitting down staring at her phone as she got prepared in the living room, looked up at her friend and nodded slowly. "Uhm, I am.""Are you sure?" Elena asked, holding Alexa's gaze. "Are you sure this is it, Alexa?" She asked further so Alexa could really comprehend the depth of her question.Alexa swallowed and nodded curtly, averting her eyes a
"Jordan!" Alexa exclaimed with terror as Jordan seized Tyler up, ready to punch him across the face again but Alexa quickly tugged at his arm, halting him effectively. "Stop it, stop it, please," she cried out, gripping Jordan's arm tightly.Jordan seethed with rage as he glared at Tyler, whose nostrils were now trickling with blood. He could barely control his raging emotions as all he wanted at that moment was to teach Tyler a lesson for calling Alexa a 'whore.' How dare he?"Jordan, please, stop it. Let him go," Alexa's pleas sailed into his ears, causing his heart to ache. He reluctantly loosened his hold on Tyler's collar at Alexa's order. Jordan was pissed off. "He doesn't deserve you, Alexa,""I know, still let him go, Jordan. Let him go right now," she asserted firmly, her heart twisting with anguish. Gosh, she hated this. She had tried her best to avoid this drama but she guessed she failed in doing so. Acutely aware this wasn't the time to berate herself as she had two me
An overwhelming feeling of shock and bewilderment coursed through Alexa as she met Tyler's furious gaze. Tyler had just barged into her office unannounced and his demeanor screamed of nothing but pure anger. "T-Ty," Alexa stuttered, prompting Jordan to turn to face the man who had just entered. The two men locked eyes in a heated gaze until Tyler started with a snap. "Really, Alexa?" He shook his head with disbelief. "Really?"Even though she couldn't comprehend what he meant by that, her heart raced wildly as she absorbed his indifference. He looked miffed and with the way he glared at Jordan, Alexa didn't need a soothsayer to tell her that Tyler must have found out the truth somehow. But how come? It wasn't supposed to be like this. She had planned to tell him herself. No, no, this was bad."Ty," She called out to him frantically as she pulled out of her thoughts. Her eyes held remorse as they met his gaze. "What is the matter?" She asked skeptically, trying not to believe he had
