The Cafeteria

(Claire's pov)

Mia and I walked into the cafeteria, walking toward the counter to place our order. "Like can you believe him, Mia, he was acting as if I was his wife again, asking me where I was coming from and if I had met up with Matthew"

"Maybe he was genuinely concerned" Mia added

I stared at her in disbelief, what was she saying, "why are you suddenly taking his side" I asked her, my gaze fixated on her

"Am not Claire, am just saying, you came back late he was concerned" she added trying to defend herself

"But I do come home late, this is not the first time," I told her.

"Well that was because you lived alone and Jonathan was not there to nag you" she responded, facing the girl behind the counter

"What may I get you ladies" she asked us

"A cappuccino with full cream" I managed to say "What would you like Mia," I asked her

"Just coffee with sugar is fine" she responded, her eyes now fixated on her phone

"Is that all" the girl asked as she typed down our orders

"Yeah, that's pretty
