Chapter 11

Slowly, Elton's initial passion for Jill faded.

He checked his phone constantly, terrified he'd miss news of Lillian's return.

He threw himself into work, hoping it would drown out his unease. But he couldn't escape the dreams about his past life, his neglect, and his cruel words to her.

Though he didn't want to face it, he started to wonder if Lillian deserved all that and if he had been wrong all this time.

He stared at his phone, hesitating before typing a message. [Enough games. Come back, and we're even.]

He sent it, but a red exclamation mark popped up.

He shot up from his chair. 'What? She blocked me? How dare she?'

His secretary burst in, a tablet in hand. "Sir, look at this. This video has gone viral online and tanked our stock. People are ripping into you and Mrs. Ruiz."

Elton grabbed the tablet and played the footage. His fingers tightened as it unfolded.

It was security footage from the day he left Lillian to visit her parents' graves alone. She spoke to their tomb
