LOGINHis girlfriend said she would be going home. She had to do something for her parents and Austin went back home. In his room his phone vibrated with a text message. It was Benjamin reminding him to come over for the football party. He told him to enjoy himself, then he switched the phone light off. He went back to studying electronics. The topic was introduction to Electronic circuits, devices and systems. After a while he started daydreaming about how tomorrow's anniversary will be. He had booked a nice rooftop in a hotel where he and Angela will have dinner. He had planned to talk about marriage with her and then he had bought her a ring. He wasn't going to ask her to marry him but the ring represented a promise as his girlfriend and he will buy a better one for her when she becomes his finance.
It was nearly 7pm he needed a break, his phone rang out from notifications. He didn't want to see them but he thought of Angela she might have texted. So he took his phone and went through the messages. It was mostly the basketball groups and some of the college groups that had messages. Benjamin texted him. Some strange numbers texted him but the one that caught his eye was that particular number that kept messaging him about his girlfriend cheating on him. He thought about how girls that liked him would go extreme and lower themselves to behave like this. It was so disgusting, he thought.
So he replied back telling them they should stop their accusations and he would block them. They replied telling him to come to the football party and see the evidence for himself. He decided to go not because he didn't trust Angi but he wanted to know who wanted to come between him and his girlfriend. It wasn't the first time he had received messages of his girlfriend cheating and he always met the people in person warning them to stay away from his relationship. He was going to do the same today.
So he put on a black joggers and wore his favourite black hoodie with a love shape crested at the front. The one Angi gifted him months ago. He took the keys to the range rover. Started the engine and made his way to the party. Thankfully the party was held at a hotel and Benjamin texted him the address.
He drove there and asked for directions to the party. He was directed to the club house of the hotel and what met his nose was the stench of alcohol. Bodies rubbing against bodies. The neon light made it hard for him to make out faces but he recognised few of his team mates. On the couch couples were making out. He saw his best friend who wore a transparent net singlet with blue loose jeans.
Benjamin was light skinned and he was the same height as Austin but with a crew cut hair. Austin's hair fell around his face and was longer but his best friend's own was shorter. The thing they shared in common was their dark brown hair.
Benjamin was thinner and his shoulders weren't broad. His arms were thinner but he made up for his looks with his abs and his handsome face. Austin was much muscular and had more broad shoulders with large biceps and triceps.
Benjamin was kissing another dude by the wall. and as Austin walked further his best friend noticed him and his face wore a surprise, his mouth wide open before the dude who was pinned to the wall stuck his tongue back into that mouth and they kissed open mouthed but Benjamin withdrew from the kiss excusing himself. He walked to Austin.
“So what you doing here huh?” he asked in a mocking tone
“I came at your invitation” Austin tried to lie
“That is hard for me to believe Austin, why are you really here?” Benjamin read Austin's face searching for the truth.
“Will talk to you later man looks like your friend is jealous you left him for me” Austin nodded his head to the direction the young man with black hair stood massaging his nipples swaying his waist and calling Benjamin's name
“He has nothing to worry about” Benjamin laughed dryly “you aren't gay”
The dark young man who Austin could now make out his skin tone came behind Benjamin and wrapped his hands around his best friend's chest and Benjamin grinded his ass on his crotch. Back to front they began dancing and kissing like Austin wasn't there. He laughed and moved away from them. Benjamin had always been a flirt and a player he respected that. He liked that his best friend didn't pretend to be a romantic.
Pulling his phone from his jogger's pocket. He texted the number. He waited, no reply. Just then a girl dressed in a crop top and mini skirt danced towards him and tried to rock her body on his. He respectfully whispered into her ear that he was taken. He withdrew from her and went to the bar where he met a fair young man, with long black hair that reached his shoulders, drinking a bloody mary. He sat down on a stool beside him and ordered a margarita.
“You know in all the places I expected to meet you this wasn't an option in my mind.”
The man who wore a blue shirt on red slacks turned his attention to Austin and smiled broadly.
“Austin my man it is good to see you.”
“You haven't been in college for a while and here you are at a party”
“Benjamin dragged me here as soon as I returned”
“So you didn't text me?”
“I wanted to surprise you”
“Oliver, I am very much surprised,” Austin said sarcastically.
Oliver was his best friend along with Benjamin. They had known each other since elementary school and through high school and now in college.
Oliver didn't study Engineering like him and Benjamin but he was a medicine student. People watching their friendship always said Oliver was the mother hen, the voice of reason and the quiet but dangerous one you didn't see coming. At parties. Oliver Was the one to drive everyone home. At their studies Oliver was the one with better grades than any of his two friends and Austin was so glad he was back.
“I am glad to be back Austin. Home wasn't so good, you know how my dad can be. It was torture what kept me was my momma.”
“He still complaining about your studies”
“Yes, the same old.”
They laughed and drank catching up and Austin told Oliver all about his anniversary plans tomorrow.
Oliver listened and smiled. He always told Benjamin about how Angi flirted with him in the first year of Austin's relationship. Benjamin passed it off as Angela joking with him but he didn't completely trust her but he had no reason to tell Austin that. The guy was madly in love with her and he didn't want to get in a fight with Austin. So he supported their relationship.
“So where is Angi hmm? “
Austin stared at Oliver. He had a mischievous look.
“With her family I presumed” then he texted her and there was no reply but he got a text from the strange number. They told Austin to come to the second floor of the club house. Austin quickly told Oliver about what happened.
It wasn't their first time and Oliver was aware of girls trying to get themselves close to Austin. He wouldn't blame some of them. The blue eyed guy sitting in front of him was handsome with a good personality.
He asked if he wanted to be accompanied and Austin said no.
Austin finished his margarita and walked away from him. Oliver brought out his phone to text someone and gobbled up the drink in his glass and made his way out of the bar.
Austin texted his girlfriend and said he would come over soon and spend the night with her and made his way to the second floor. This floor had rooms for guests who wanted to take their intimacy to a bed. With each step he took he prepared himself for a good seduction from the female who texted him he was ready to strangle her till she agreed to stay away from him. He located the room number and pushed the door open and nothing could have prepared him for the site he saw.
A female voice rang out in the air as a guy above her repeatedly thrusted inside her.
“I thought you locked the door,” she said moaning her eyes closed
“It is nothing baby let me make you cum”
And Austin would recognise that voice anywhere. It was Angi and she was exclaiming a name repeatedly. A name he knew his dislike for had grown to hate. A name he knew too well and the guy, aware of his presence, looked at him briefly before driving into his girlfriend harder than ever.
Austin felt dizzy. He wanted to deny what he had seen but he couldn't any longer the name his girlfriend had screamed as she reached ecstasy was a name he had heard her scream and he thought he imagined it but at this moment he realised he hadn't imagined it.
The cafeteria was buzzing as usual, trays clattering, voices overlapping in a constant hum. Austin sat with Benjamin and Oliver at their usual table near the back, half-listening as Oliver quietly explained something about his lab work. Austin picked at his food, head heavy with the weight of too many thoughts.Yesterday's night fuck wasn't good at all. He had gotten drunk. He had a severe headache and he didn’t have an organism. He still remembered the girl screaming as she reached ecstacy. He tried to imagine she was Angela but that hadn't worked either. In the end he tried to jerk off and when that didn't work he slept in anger. He picked at his food and tried to listen to what Oliver said. He started hearing whispers, Look , she is heading towards their table. Oliver stopped talking and Benjamin had a scowl on his face. The mysterious figure that others whispered about finally reached his table. His eyes fell on her. Her hair was tied back, makeup minimal, but her presence still
A crowd of students had gathered near the notice board outside the cafeteria. Loud chatter and excitement filled the air.Austin pushed through, curiosity piqued.“Bro, look!” someone said, pointing to a bold poster pinned to the board.Eastview Varsity vs Blackrock Colleges competition Basket Saturday at 12 pmA murmur of adrenaline buzzed through the players standing around. Austin’s teammates clapped him on the back.“Captain,” said Tariq, grinning. “This is your game, man. We know you dominate each game. If we win, it’s because of you.”Austin gave a tight smile. “Yeah... We’ll crush it.”He spoke and made eye contact with everyone “Not because of me but because we all work hard”“Yess!! We will win!!” They chorused together Only one person was quiet watching Austin with a quiet contemplation. _________Austin’s phone buzzed. Again. It had been buzzing with the same text for the past week.“Please, can we talk? Just one last time.”He stared at the screen. Then, impulsively, he
The breeze had picked up slightly now. A dry leaf tumbled lazily past the bench where Oliver and Scott sat. Students wandered in and out of the hostel building behind them, but their little corner of the courtyard felt separate and quiet, like the world had hit pause.Scott leaned back against the bench and closed his eyes, face tilted toward the sun.“I love this hour,” he said. “Everything feels... suspended. Like you can just be without expectations.”In his hands, his phone was vibrating. Someone was calling, but he didn't want to pick up. He didn't bother to check who was calling. Instead, he turned to look at him. “That’s kind of poetic.”Scott opened one eye and grinned. “I have layers. Like a croissant.”Oliver chuckled, shaking his head. “You’re not what I expected, honestly.”Scott raised a brow. “What did you expect?”“Some rich kid who coasted through secondary school because of connections. Someone who doesn’t really care about medicine, just wants to impress Daddy.”Scott
The midday sun filtered lazily through the wide windows of the medical science lecture theatre, streaking warm light across the backs of students seated in gentle tiers. A soft hum of conversation buzzed in the room, notes being flipped, water bottles opened, and early keyboard clacks. The smell of old wood and antiseptic lingered faintly in the air.Oliver sat toward the middle row, resting his elbow on the shared desk, his face unusually composed for someone who barely slept the night before. To his left sat Scott, cheerful as always, legs bouncing under the table, and on his right was Lydia Markson, the girl whose smile had haunted his thoughts since the party.Lydia tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and glanced at Oliver. “You good?” she asked softly.Oliver nodded too quickly. “Yeah. Just a little tired,” he said, voice even.Scott leaned forward and looked at him knowingly. “You look like a man who got chased by the police and still managed to flirt. Impressive.”Oliver laug
Two girls walked to him, running their hands through his shoulders. Austin grinned at the two girls who had been trying to catch his attention all night. They tugged him into the crowd, laughing as they threw their arms around his shoulders. One had glitter along her cheekbones, and the other wore a short red dress and braided buns. He didn’t hesitate his body moved fluidly, naturally, with the beat, catching the rhythm like it was stitched into his veins. He was sandwiched between them both. He loved dancing with girls. The lights caught the sharpness of his jaw as he spun one of the girls and dipped her dramatically. She laughed, clinging to his hoodie. His face was relaxed, carefree, but his eyes scanned the room, and for a flicker of a second, they landed on Brian.Erik Hall, the host, swaggered to the center of the room shirt half-buttoned, bottle in hand. He clapped his hands for attention and shouted, “Tonight, we’re going all night! No slowing down!” He waved toward the DJ bo
Austin looked away quickly, jaw tight.“Let's get this party started!” Erik Hall screamed loudly “Great,” he muttered under his breath.Benjamin raised his voice as the music got louder “Oliver you need to dance and loosen up come Austin let show him how it done”Benjamin wiggled his legs like the beat owed him money, while Austin threw his hands in the air, hips rolling with lazy confidence.“Hey, little brother,” Damien called out, slinging an arm around Benjamin, “so you do know how to party.”Oliver looked over, unimpressed. He and Damien shared the same dark short hair, but where Oliver’s was slicked back with precision, Damien’s curled wildly with spikes all over. He was dressed like Benjamin, though he wore ripped shorts on his net singlet and sneakers. Benjamin had ripped jeans with chains crossing the pockets. It was giving chaotic energy. Oliver adjusted his shirt, feeling out of place “Hey, Damien,” Austin greeted, grinning.“You’ve been scarce,” Benjamin added, still boun
