Chapter 09

　　Melissa, who had just come out of the ICU, entered the operating room again. When the doctor came out, he was obviously displeased, \"Patients need to rest, and family members should cooperate more and visit as little as possible. Pay special attention to the patient\'s emotions as to not let her mood fluctuate. If this happens again, even the best doctor will not be able to save her.\"

　　After hearing the doctor\'s words, Spencer felt strong regrets in his heart.

　　When Melissa woke up, Spencer was nowhere to be found, only a caregiver named Hazel took care of her.

　　Melissa thought that Hazel was sent by Spencer to monitor her, but she found out that she really was there for Melissa\'s well-being. Even if some requests were unreasonable, as long as it would not affect her body, Hazel would follow her.

　　She wasn\'t aware that it was Spencer who had commanded Hazel to satisfy Melissa no matter what she wanted to do.

　　Melissa was thinking about her request over and over again until she decided to finally ask Hazel to check up on her father for her and see how he was doing.

　　Hazel came back and said that her father was in stable condition and had even regained consciousness once. The news relieved Melissa a lot.

　　Spencer visited two weeks later. Before that, Melissa had already asked Hazel to prepare the divorce papers, and she handed it over as soon as he came in.

　　The moment Spencer saw the words \"divorce agreement,\" his brows furrowed deeply.

　　\"You want to get a divorce?\" he fumed in anger without warning as he subconsciously suppressed his fiery heart while his eyes glared intently at Melissa.

　　Melissa didn\'t even look at him. She only lowered her eyes and curled her eyebrows, and said softly, \"From the day of our wedding, you\'ve only mistreated me. We couldn\'t go back to what we were before anyway.\"

　　She sighed, \"Spencer, I know you hate me. I can prove my innocence, but I won\'t do that.\"

　　Speaking of this, she suddenly raised her head and looked at Spencer, \"There\'s no way we can live together after what happened. As long as I see you, I will always remember the night of the wedding. Spencer, we have no choice but to divorce.\"

　　When Spencer heard these words, Spencer was so angry that he looked at her with sharp eyes, \"Melissa, aren\'t you too naive? What made you think I would agree to a divorce?\"

　　The corners of his mouth curled up mockingly, \"I\'m afraid you haven\'t figured it out yet. I never planned to live with you. I married you just to torture you, don\'t you get it?\"

　　After hearing his cruel words, Melissa looked at Spencer disappointedly, \"My father is lying unconscious in the hospital because of you! The Qin family is going bankrupt! You\'ve already done enough, why wouldn\'t you let me go?\"

　　Could it be that Spencer\'s kindness toward her since childhood was all fake? Melissa refused to believe it because she couldn\'t accept that that was the case.

　　\"Let you go?\" Spencer said in a dark tone, his eyes pricking Melissa like poison, causing Melissa to shudder. \"Why don\'t you ask your father, huh? How could he do that to Quincy? Quincy treated him like her uncle for so many years!\"

　　\"I told you, you\'re wrong! Why won\'t you believe me? Spencer, we have known each other since we were children. Would you rather believe a stranger\'s words than to believe me?\" Melissa argued hopelessly, her eyes were clearly filled with annoyance.

　　Spencer scoffed, \"Can\'t stand it anymore, can you? Is your heart hurting right now?\"

　　His mockery deepened, and he started beating his own chest, \"But when I heard what happened to Quincy because of you, it hurt me even more! Death? That\'s no punishment! I will do everything I can to make you live in this world and make you suffer my punishment!\"

　　The tears Melissa tried so hard to endure finally broke out, \"Spencer, so you\'re telling me that you\'re not planning to let me go for the rest of your life?\"
