Cassandraa quickly walked towards the elevator, she glanced at her wrist watch, a frown rested on her face because she is five minutes late for the meeting. As soon as she got out of the elevator, her workers quickly got to work as fast as they could because no one wanted to get into any problem with her.
Ignoring them, she walked into another elevator, pressed the fifth floor button and the elevator quickly took her straight to her destination. Cassandra quickly got out of it, adjusted her gown and headed towards the meeting office which was a few feet from the elevator.
"I am so sorry that I am late" she said as she walked into the room, got to her seat, her face fixed on Mr Simon and slowly on his officials present.
"It's good you are here anyway" Mr Simon let out with a calm smile. Cassandra was not happy that she was late, this is something that has never happened and right now, she knows that it is the time for her to employ a PA.
"Alright, let's get to business, '' she started with a serious expression and tone.
The meeting lasted for an hour and soon, they all came to a conclusion and the meeting came to a halt.
"Nice speech Cassandra" Simon said as he and his colleagues headed for the door, "But you should think about my suggestion on getting a PA, it will relieve you of so much stress" he said and walked out of the meeting room, Cassabdra's gaze fixed on him.
Realizing that she is alone in the large room, Casabdra sat on her chair, her head bowed down and her fingers rubbed her forehead as she let out a sigh.
A knock on the door alerted her, she quickly looked up and saw her Secretary, Jasmine, a tall brunette with glasses standing patiently with some files in her hand.
"Do come in Jasmine" Cassandra ushered her in and the brunette walked in with full consciousness because she doesn't want to do anything that might offend her boss.
"The document containing the added information on the company's new contract has arrived Ma" her voice calm but business-like because she knows how much Cassandra hated low and lazy voice.
"Excellent" Cassabsra uttered, she collected the file from Jasmine, glanced through the first page and handed it to her. "Place them in my office, I will be there shortly" she said, not looking at the brunette who stood two steps away from her.
"I will Ma" Jasmine replied and began to head out of the room.
"Wait a sec" Cassandra blurted out with a raised finger, she turned to her secretary who looked back hoping that she hadn't done or said anything to piss her boss.
"I need you to post on the company website that a new PA is needed and the interview must be tomorrow by 10 pm prompt. Any candidate who comes a minute past ten should not be allowed in '' Cassandra declared with no smile on her face, her look so serious that it made Jasmine fidget in fear.
"Definitely Ma, I will get to it" Jasmine replied immediately.
"Good, you can leave now" Cassandra shoved her out and not wanting to be called again, Jasmine walked out as fast as her legs could take her.
With a sigh, Cassandra stood up, picked up her handbag and walked out of the room heading to her office. The rest of the day went by smoothly and soon, it was time to go home.
Cassandra got home a few minutes because of a lot of traffic as it is always in the city of California. As soon as she got inside her home, she refused on the couch, picked up a glass of wine next to her and poured its contents into a nearby glass cup. With sharp eyes fixed on the large Tv set, Cassandra sipped her wine slowly with the hope of getting her perfect PA tomorrow, a PA she can rely on. One thing Cassandra knows that she will never do is to trust people and she hopes that her PA who will definitely be a woman must be stiff just like her with no sign of laziness running in her veins.
The sound of her ringing phone alerted her, Cassandra glanced at her hand bag next to her, dipped her hand into it and brought out her phone which didn't stop ringing nonstop.
Realizing that it is her mom calling, she sighs, rolls her eyes and wishes there was a way she could ignore it but she just can't, it is her mother she is talking about here and the only family she has.
"Hello mum" she said and waited patiently for a phone at the other end.
"My darling" a loud but sweet voice came from the other end, "it took you a while to pick up my call, are you trying to avoid me Cassandra?" Her mother asked in a short tone.
Cassandra sighs loudly and rolls her eyes again, "You have started again Mum, why on earth will I avoid you when I know that you are the only one who has" she stated sharply but her mother wasn't buying it.
"Don't lie to me Cassandra, I know you more than you know yourself and I know that you are avoiding me. That's a fact baby girl and you can't deny that" her mother objected at the other end.
Cassandra isn't surprised by her mother's outburst, having a Latino mother is something she wishes she doesn't but when she realizes that she also has some of her mother character, she just laughs over it. "Don't call me a baby girl mother, I am a full grown adult, isn't it weird that you are calling me that?" She was not pleased at all.
Mrs Johnson laughed at the other end, "I am glad that right now, you know that you are no longer a child so I wonder what's stopping you from getting married and giving me grandbabies' ' she blurted out to Cassabdra who signed so loud this time.
"Here you are again mum!" She shouted over the phone, "I will get married at the appropriate time it fits me but right now, the hell with men and their lies, I am not down for it" she signified with a sigh.
"I don't want to hear any more words about you and men Cassandra, all I want is for you to settle down like every other lady out there. You are beautiful and successful, men love women like you and right now, all I want is to see my grandchildren before I kick the bucket, nothing else. Just get to it as fast as you can" Mrs Johnson said sharply to get daughter.
Not wanting to prolong the discussion, Cassandra stood up, "I will talk to you later mum, I got to go" she said and hung up as fast as she could before her mum said anything.
The following day, Cassandra went to work early just to avoid such lateness like the previous day. As soon as she walked into the building, all her workers rushed to their seats of work and they all avoided her gaze because none of them wanted to get fired.Cassandra got out of the elevator and walked down the hallway that leads to her office. As she got closer, she saw some women sitting comfortably on a sofa kept for visitors. She ignored them and walked into her office which was not far away from where they sat.As soon as she got seated, her secretary walked into her office with her hand filled with files."Ma'am" she let out, her eyes fixed on Cassandra who placed her bag comfortably on her bag rack. She turned her attention to the brunette wondering w
"You let a man come into this institution to apply for such a position when you know clearly that it is only women that have been in this position for years," Cassandra said to Jasmine, not hiding her disappointment.Jasmine, who feared that she would eat fire, was at the edge of leaving out tears, "I'm very sorry Ma, it just slipped off my mind" she begged feeling very downcast as she wondered what her fate might be.Not knowing what to say, Cassandra rested her head on her chair, her gaze fixed on the ceiling. Right now, she is at an immediate meeting, a man has never applied for this position before and she hopes that this man fails the interview so that she can find a way of letting him out of the company. She looked down at Jasmine who was still at her knees beggi
Cassandra still couldn't believe that she employed a man into such a job. Well, right now isn't a time for her to think about anything else but to test his skill, if she should notice any bad character in him, she won't think twice but fire him with immediate effect. The next day, she got to work, as she walked into her company, Dennis walked towards her, his hands filled with files but Cassandra didn't look at him, her pace still fixed on her destination."Ma'am, the LAX company sent an email through the company's mail box" he said walking very fast as he didn't want to be left behind, they both got into the elevator and Cassandra stood still, not a friendly look could be seen on her face."What do they need?" She asked. Dennis quickly pressed the fifth fl
Feeling dejected, Dennis walked back into his office, he sat on his chair, let out a sigh and buried his head in his hands.Moving into California has been a rollercoaster for him but getting employed into the most successful company in the United States is a goal he is so delighted that he achieved. Dennis has heard so many things about Cassadra, her toughness and inability to withstand laziness from any of her workers and indeed the rumors are true.Right now, all he hope on is to get the best out of his job and be able to provide money every month to pay his rent and other expenses. His parents lived back in New York and living far away from Them is something he is thrilled to experience.Being a young man of twenty five, Dennis could say that his life h
The day rolled by fast and soon, it was the end of work time. Dennis quickly followed Cassandra to her car and watched her chauffeur drive her into the busy road. With a sigh of relief that the day's torment had ended, Dennis still couldn't believe that this was just his first day at work and it felt like he had worked there for years. He walked towards his car, got in and drove home ready for what tomorrow night brought. All he wishes for is that the meeting should go to Cassandra's favor just to avoid more cussing from her, he just can't put up with her character because his experience today has shown him how the rest of his days working here will be.Cassandra got home very worried, she has no idea why she scheduled for a meeting tomorrow when she ha
Cassandra sat at the edge of her Sofa, her eyes fixed on the TV set close to her but her mind was filled with the thoughts of Dennis. The young man's confidence is dating enough for her, deep inside her, she hopes that he comes out with a solution because right now, she needs someone's help but she doesn't know how to bring herself so low to admit that. With her gaze glued on the TV, she took a sip from the glass cup, her left foot tap slowly on the ground beneath her.Suddenly, her phone rang bringing her back to reality, she glanced at her side, picked up the phone and was surprised to know that it is no one else but Dennis calling. She felt her heart leap a beat and she wondered why, right now, all she wants to hear
The rest of the day went by so quickly and the next day, Dennis found himself driving to the airport along with Cassandra who sat next to him dressed in a luxurious purple gown and sunglasses covering her eyes."It's just an hour flight and we will be there in no time" Cassandra let out and glanced at her wristwatch."How many more minutes do we have left to get to the airport?" She asked her chauffeur."Five minutes Ma'am" the older man replied, his eyes fixed on the road.Dennis didn't say a word but held onto Cassandra's hand bag. He inhaled deeply, the nice scent of Cassandra held his nostril and he tried so hard not to let it be obvious that he was thrilled by her scent.
Dennis sat inside the car with his eyes fixed on his phone. He glanced at his wristwatch realizing that twenty minutes had passed and Cassandra is yet to be seen.He sat still not knowing what to do as he wonders if she is really busy and the thought of him going in to meet her might spark her anger and right now, Dennis doesn't want any of that.He inhaled deeply, looked up at the car ceiling and down to his phone. He doesn't know why he feels so tense and the picture of Cassandra keeps playing in his mind. He feels like he has been hypnotized by her or maybe because of the nature of his job, he has to consider himself to be close to her at any minute. Not knowing what else to do, Dennis waited patiently for Cassandra, he glanced at the entrance of the sop
