A POSSIBLE CHANGE
Aria scrambled passed in a hurry avoiding Kai but she could feel his eyes hot on her as she walked, piercing through her skin, meeting her bones. That stare a predator gives a prey before attacking, there was no warmth in his eyes just subtle–No, intense threats making her Omega Wolf want to submit to him. "Watch where you are going?" She bumped into Cassie. "I'm sorry, I—" "Hi," Edwin distracted Cassie and Aria was able to leave without enduring bullying or humiliation. The day may have dragged too long for Aria as she avoided Kai, they only took 3 classes together and thankfully they had no other joint class that day. As usual Aria walked alone, the lonely walk made her mind wander even if the path was filled with students chatting in groups to the bus stop. ~~~~~~ Unlocking the door at home, she thought of what to have for dinner before leaving for work. "How was school today," a familiar voice sounded from the sitting room causing Aria to pause her steps. Aria had not expected to meet anyone at home so she had blindly headed for her room without observing her environment to see that she had company. "What?" Her mum asked when Aria stared at her like she had seen a ghost. It was unusual for her mum to be back home at the time so Aria glanced at the wall clock to ensure the time hadn't skipped but no, it was only quarter past three in the afternoon. "You're home..." Aria raised a questioning brow. "Alone as well," she folded her arms across her chest, she had not expected to meet her mum but even when she came home, she was always in the company of men which disgusted Aria all the time but there she sat. Alone. Aria waited to hear her out. "Don't be like that please, at least tell me how your day in school was today." Sge attempted to rise to her feet but Aria stopped her unbelieving. "No sit, I don't think we need the charade, it's just you and I here." Aria narrowed her eyes at her mum, her mum never really cared about her life at the werewolf school. Sigh... Her mum sighed and actually rose to her feet. "I know I've not been...uhm, so good of a parent to you—" "Bad, the word you're looking for is bad..." Arua corrected her but she smiled weakly. Fiona was still radiant and beautiful even after giving birth to Aria, she had maintained her figure over the years, long black hair, bright hazel eyes and a warm smile that charmed the other gender. "Can we do things differently?" Fiona tried to to make peace with her daughter. "I want to be a better person now, at least a better mum..." she paused when Aria simply stared at her with no expression. "Not for me baby, for you. I don't want you doing life all by yourself anymore, I want to know how your day at school goes, meet your friends, be a part of your life in general." She took her daughter's hand in hers. Aria felt a hand squeeze her heart, tears pricked the back of her eyes but she wouldn't even let them glisten her eyes. She was still suspicious, she couldn't trust her mother's repentance, she couldn't believe her words either. "Aria," the air in the room became cooler, her mother's warm hands wrapping hers, she opened her mouth to speak but the words didn't comply. Her name sounded differently on her mother's lips but uncertainty hung between them, Aria had grown up in a pack that rejected her instead of protecting her so trust was a luxury she could no longer afford. "Why did you wait so long?" Aria's voice was thick, her heart ached—no—it longed for her mother's attention, for any atom of care at all. Yet she latched on the walls she had built living alone. Fiona was silent, she had no response, slowly she let go of Aria's hand and walked towards the kitchen. "I made lunch," she smiled weakly. Aria stood there in a dilemma, to believe her mother had turned a new leaf or... The former was harder to believe but she was willing to give it a shot. "I'll just run a bath," Aria excused herself, when she was gone, Fiona sighed. It was a lit for her as well, she wanted to be a better person—a better example, better parent but there were always buts. Life didn't just let you choose to live as comfortably as you pleased without throwing lemons at you especially when you loved as an omega in a pack where hierarchy was everything. When Aria returned, Fiona had set the table for two, the sweet smell of broth hit her first, Fiona wasan excellent cook and Aria had missed meals by her mum. "Peppered chicken wings, the way you like them soft—" "And tender," Aria finally smiled, her mother remembered. It wasn't the soft texture of the protein that made Aria eat so much neither was it her appetite, it was more of the promise the meal held—maybe they were going to be a normal family again, her mum and her for a start. If the goddess was generous, her Dad was going to come around as well. Soon or not. That was the problem... "You're no longer eating," Fiona frowned when Aria just stared at her plate all of a sudden. Thoughts flooded Aria's mind, ten years, for ten years she had lived all by herself making peace with her solitude. "I'm full, thanks" she was back to the icy tone. Somehow Fiona understood. "I'm sorry, I love you." Fiona whispered making a tear fall before Aria could catch it. Without a response, she left to her room. Aria needed time to warm up to the change, for Aria she needed more than time, she needed proof, more actions than an apology and meal peace offering. It was safer to keep her walls high than hurt herself by believing her mum so easily.AN UNDENIABLE ATTRACTION Aria was stunned, a part of her felt giddy, Kai had not been aggressive towards her, rather he had winked at her, whispered in her ear and even invited her over to his house.Aria left the class in a daze, her mind clouded with thoughts. "Come to the pack house later today so we start early." He had whispered it in her ear, his lip brushing her lobe making her stomach churn. She watched him get lost at a corner into his locker room. He had been staring at her all day, though it was a predatory look, her wolf enjoyed it.Her wolf was naturally attracted to how powerful Kai looked, his intimidating Alpha Aura, his handsome face and perfect gym body. She decided to walk to clear her head—breathing in his space for so long made her feel some kind of way."Hi, are you going home?" A car stopped in front of her outside the school's gate. She nodded her response. It was Ryan, he had felt bad for not giving her ride home the other day."Hop in, I'll give you a ride.
THE PERFECT PAIR"Fine. Aria and Kai." Aria frowned, she had tried to avoid him all day and he had to ask to be her partner on the project, she was already having to do the other project all by herself. She saw it as another opportunity for him to bully her. When the class was over, Aria gathered what little courage she didn't have to face Kai."Hi partner," he regarded her very casually. His grey eyes warm not the usual cold glint. She opened her mouth to speak but the words won't cooperate. He sat leaning in his seat in a blue dress shirt, the button slightly undone from the collar revealing a well dry cleaned inner white shirt. It fit on all the right areas and looked familiar to Aria, strong arms, broad shoulders and—"Aria," he called her name, her breath stopped, he knew her name.Of course he did, he just never used it to address her."Why?" That was all she could say as she dropped her eyes to
WHAT'S UP WITH HIM?At the club the music was loud and the lights were colorful, bodies moved on the dance floor, the smell of sweat and liquor mixing as humans let themselves lose under the influence of alcohol or adrenaline. "Another round for my table. Waiter be quick. Manager, are all your staff so slow?" An impatient man in a half drunken state complained but the manager simply smiled, he was perfect in customer service."I'll get you more active people right away." He made an excuse and left the lounge area.He shook his head as he walked away from the deafening music, he loved his job and overtime he had learned people management to a degree deserving extent. When he got to her door he paused and smiled. RAVEN The inscription on the door of the dressing room extended the smile that already curled his lips. A knock, two, he twisted the knob and let himself in.He stopped."What?" She asked when he didn't say anything, didn't move, just stared at her smiling. "You..." her ch
A SLOW OBSESSION The pack house was quiet when Kai got back.Everyone was at home but no one was in sight—it was like that everyday, everyone went to their business till dining times and he had returned after lunch time so any dramas would be during dinner."Alpha," someone greeted, bowed a bit to show his respect. The man was in his mid forties, dressed in a crisp black and white uniform—Green—the head butler.Kai sighed, Green had lived with them as long as Kai remembered taking his first breath, first step too, he was always there. "I ate already." Kai didn't return his greeting, he never did after his father passed, he kept his distance from the walls of the house itself, he felt betrayed, alone, not abandoned because everyone tried to reach out to him but he shut them all out.Green had served his father for years yet his father's food had been poisoned for years till his body was weak enough for them to strike him—Kai didn’t blame anyone, he blamed everyone."Noted," Green nod
DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DOAria had her feelings all over the place, Kai was always cruel to her but since the day began, his friend had been good to her but she couldn't trust anyone—not after everything she had been through. She didn't have any class after recess since Thursdays were half days for PHT—Physical health training. The afternoon sun was hotter than the morning's, the air still dry and abusive on her skin. From the corner of her eyes, she saw the familiar vehicle that had given her a ride to school but he didn't stop, he simply sped past her."Of course, what was I thinking?" She continued on her way to the stop to wait for a taxi, whatever happened earlier was past tense—nonexistent. Behind the wheel, Ryan gritted his teeth as hard as he held the steering wheel. He wanted to stop, drop her off so the sun didn't burn up her skin but he couldn't, the street was filled with students and she was just a low ranking wolf.
A NEW CONQUEST Somehow, he derived joy in his action. Aria had barely taken a bite when the cheeseburger was snatched from her hand. She had not had breakfast that morning and the cheeseburger was all she had carried. She was going to protest when she looked up but on seeing who had taken it, she let it slide—she couldn't fight him.Kai."I'll take this with me," Aria sighed.Instead of her anger, something else stirred within her, her nose picked his sweet smell, her Omega wolf recognizing his Alpha pheromones despite her suppressants. When she looked at him, she didn't see her bully, she saw a man she wanted to protect her, his broad shoulders and distance from his head to the ground, everything was perfect. She rose to her feet. "You want to stand up against me?" He looked amused but Aria knew better than to dare to challenge him.As a future Alpha, challenging him could bring upon her pack punishment or something worse so she didn't even dare it. She walked away. "Better," sh
