LOGINAva's POV
Immediately I walked outside Jake's apartment, a tear slipped down my eye. How could they do that? My own friends.
How stupid I was!
I felt my chest tightened. My head was void of any other thoughts—just Lucia and Jake's betrayal. My legs were shaky. I couldn't wait for a ride. Not in this state of mind.
He called me a useless omega! That was what I meant to him all this while?
I had been so foolish. So foolish to think I'd have a chance with him.
I walked like a possessed person down the road.
My steps became slower as I feel the intensity of the sun. Was the universe working against me today?
I sobbed even more. My throat was parched and dry. Every part of my body was soaked with sweat.
At this point, I was just walking. I didn't know where I was going but I kept walking.
Motorists blared horns and cursed at me but I didn't care.
“Stupid bitch! Get the hell out of the way.”
I turned my head to see a man sneering at me. I only heard him faintly.
I was surprised to see a queue of cars behind me. I had been walking aimlessly on the road.
“Are you deaf?”
The lanky man tried to drag me but I fell on the road. I saw one of the car doors opened and someone stepped out.
I stood up, trying to shelter my eyes from the scorching sun.
The man from earlier quickly bowed as the stranger approached us. My eyes were still misty so I couldn't recognize them yet.
The man was now standing in front of me. I fought myself to focus and recognition dawned on me.
It was Alpha Luke!
I'm seeing him for the second time today.
I couldn't place the look on his face as he stared at me.
He turned to face his bodyguard who still had his head bowed.
“What's wrong with her?”
I heard Alpha Luke ask his bodyguard. Why was he talking as if I'm not present?
At that moment, I saw Layla come down from Alpha Luke's car.
“What is the delay about darling?” She asked. Then her eyes settled on me.
“Alpha Luke.” I bowed, suddenly recollecting myself.
He didn't respond. He didn’t even spare me a glance. He had always been like that.
I was still looking at Alpha Luke when a hand hit me on my face. I looked up in surprise to see Layla's hand hanging in the air.
Why did she hit me?
“Stop roaming around and staring at other people's man!”
Layla spat at me. She wanted to hit me again but Alpha Luke held her hands.
“That's enough, Layla.” Alpha Luke said, then turned to leave.
Layla followed behind him and said,
“You should throw her in jail, Luke. She's caused a commotion on the streets.”
Alpha Luke paused in his tracks and I felt my heart quicken.
It was a well known law in Bloodcrest pack that no one disobeys traffic rules. If the Alpha is to punish me, then I'd be spending at least three months in prison. I couldn't afford that—not when my mother is sick and needs my help.
“Don't bother yourself about it.” Alpha Luke said, waving off the issue. “We don't want to keep Alpha Dylan waiting, do we?”
Layla shook her head still glaring at me. “No, my brother won't appreciate coming late.”
“Good, let's get going.” Alpha Luke said then turned to me. “And you, don't let this repeat itself.” He said in a gruff voice.
With that, they got into the car and drove off.
Alpha Dylan is Layla's elder brother. He is the ruler of the Moonstone pack. I've heard of his ruthlessness. He used to kill other wolves just for the fun of it. Other packs used to tremble at the mention of his name. His territory was the safest to live. No rogues could come close to his pack—that would mark their end. Those are the stories I've heard from pack members.
I felt the sun penetrate harder on my skin as I walked along the road. I wandered aimlessly until my feet took me to the hospital.
Outside the gates of the hospital were a fleet of exotic cars. I opened my mouth in awe, forgetting myself for a while. I've never seen such exotic cars all my life.
I was now inside the hospital ward beside my mother. My mother was thinner than I know her to be. Even in her unconscious state, I noticed her pale face. I would do anything to make sure she survives this sickness. The last time the doctor had said the cancer had gotten worse. The infusion of wolfsbane in her body years back had weakened her. The pack had been under attack by rogues. She had fought bravely until she was injected with wolfsbane. Since then, her wolf has gotten weaker. She's now exposed to different kinds of human sickness.
I felt a hand touch me and I looked up to see my mother had awakened.
“Mum, are you okay? How are you feeling?” I asked eagerly, my eyes working up her frail body.
“I’m g-oo-d.” She responded slowly, clutching her chest.
“I would do anything to make sure you get better.” I assured, holding her hands.
After a while, she went back to sleep. I left the room and went to the doctor's office. I got out of the doctor's office and was about heading home when my body hit a wall. I was in a hurry.
I looked up quickly to see a pair of blue eyes staring at me. I stared back at him, totally forgetting everything else. His dreamy blue eyes felt as if they were trying to observe the deepest part of my soul. His long blonde hair covered the side of his face, but even that didn't hide his ethereal look. I swallowed a spittle as I stared at his perfectly rounded lips. He was a sexy man!
“I think it's about time you devour me.”
I heard him say and I blinked. What was he talking about? A frown creased my face. His confidence and graceful poise seem to unnerve me. He had something about him I couldn't figure out, yet.
“Wh-a-t did you say?” I stuttered, forcing myself to tear my eyes away from his face.
He chuckled, then leaned closer to my ears. “I asked when you were going to devour me.”
I flinched. What was he playing at? Was he flirting with me so openly? I willed myself to ignore his statement. I had a bigger task at hand to let myself be bothered by a pretty boy.
I cleared my throat and his eyes were now focused on me.
“I have no time for your gimmicks. Excuse me.”
I was leaving when I felt his hands draw me back.
“You leave only when I ask you to.” He growled and I almost felt my knees weaken.
His voice carries with it some kind of authority. I felt my wolf curl inside of me. I have so many questions raising in my head. Who was this handsome stranger with so much nerves?
“Oh, there you are. Alpha Dylan, I've been looking all over for you.”
I turned my head to see a man walking towards us.
Alpha Dylan? Who was he calling Alpha Dylan?
My eyes fell on the man in front of me and I saw a smirk cross his lips.
It can't be. Is there a slightest chance he's the alpha Dylan I've heard so much about?
Happy endingOne month later.Ava's POV The dress felt like a cloud around me, layers of soft white material. I hardly recognized the person staring back from the mirror. The makeup artist had worked magic, making my eyes seem bigger, my skin glow. It was my wedding day. The day I finally, truly married Dylan. My mate. The father of my babies. I had decided to forgive him when he didn't stop begging, and now I want to leave the past behind. This was a new dawn. I stared at the beautiful gown I was wearing. The dress felt heavy, maybe a bit much for me, but I didn’t care. Not today.Elora was beside me, fussing with the veil, adjusting a stray curl. She looked so happy, her face soft with contentment. She’d found her mate a few weeks ago – Kane, Dylan’s Beta. It felt right. Kane was good, solid, responsible. He would take care of her, just like Dylan took care of me. I was so happy for her, truly happy."Almost ready," Elora murmured, giving my shoulders a gentle squeeze. "You look b
Dylan's POV The pack hall felt different today. Quieter, despite the number of wolves gathered inside. After the confessions, after Jake’s end, everyone knew this was coming. The reckoning. The people he’d named. My step-sister, her mate, and Jasmine. The doors opened, and Damon alongside some pack fighters walked in, escorting three figures. Alpha Luke, my step-sister, Layla. And Jasmine. They were flanked by guards, their movements constrained but not physically harmed.Alpha Luke was the first to react. His face was red with fury, his eyes blazing as he was brought to a stop in the center of the hall. He looked around at the assembled pack, then his gaze locked onto me.“Dylan! What is the meaning of this nonsense?!” he roared, his voice echoing in the sudden silence. “Why have you brought us here like this? You can’t just abduct an Alpha and his mate!”I didn’t answer him. I didn’t even look at him. My gaze was fixed on Layla, who stood beside him, her usual haughty demeanor comp
Dylan's POV “I will keep trying, Ava,” I said, my voice low and determined. “I will seek your forgiveness, your love, every single day. I will prove to you that I am not the fool I was. I will prove that I deserve you. I will get your heart back.”I didn’t wait for her to respond. I knew what her answer would be. I turned and walked to the door, my steps heavy. As I stepped out, I muttered the words again, a vow to myself, a desperate hope in the face of despair. “I will get your heart back.”Kane was waiting for me outside. He looked at my face, his expression understanding. He had heard when Jake had confessed so he understood perfectly what was going on.“Alpha?” he asked softly.I ran a hand through my hair, feeling the exhaustion and the weight of the conversation pressing down on me. “She’s… she’s hurting, Kane,” I said, the words difficult to push past the lump in my throat. “She heard Jake. She knows the truth.”Kane nodded. “Give her time, Alpha,” he said. “She’s been throug
Dylan’s POVThe next morning, the first thing I did, after making sure the pack was secure, was go to see the pups. They were being kept in one of the warmer, safer rooms in the main house. Elora, one of Ava's friends, was there, watching over them. She smiled kindly when I entered.“They’re sleeping soundly, Alpha,” she whispered, gesturing to the small bundle of blankets on the floor.I walked over, my steps quiet. My heart swelled as I looked down at them. Three small, perfect forms, nestled together. My children. I hadn’t seen them since they were tiny newborns, snatched away from Ava by Georgia and Sylvester. Now, they looked a little bigger, their features more defined. They had dark hair, like Ava. My scent was strong around them, a mix of pride and fierce protectiveness.I knelt down beside them, my wolf stirring inside me, a deep, rumbling purr of contentment. My pups. Safe. Home. One of them stirred, a tiny hand reaching out from the blankets. I gently placed my finger in hi
Dylan's POV“Stop,” I laughed. “Where's the fun in that? I still have to cut some limbs and feed it to my hounds.”He continued pleading but I ignored his pleas. He had shown no mercy to my children, no mercy to Ava. He deserved none from me. I kept the scissors and pressured hard on his wound, a steady, agonizing weight. He screamed, a raw, desperate sound that tore through the morning air. “Okay! Okay! I’ll talk! I’ll say everything! Just stop!”I held it for a few more seconds, letting him truly feel the depth of the agony, letting the message sink in. Then, slowly, I released the pressure.Jake slumped forward, panting, shaking, his eyes squeezed shut. He was broken. I could see it in his eyes, only the silver chain was able to hold him in place.“Talk,” I repeated, my voice cold and flat.He took a deep, shuddering breath, then another. His eyes fluttered open, meeting mine. The madness was still there, lurking beneath the fear, but the defiance was gone.“It was… it was because
Dylan's POV The first rays of sunlight were breaking over the horizon as we reached the borders of Moonstone territory. The familiar scent of the air in the border hit my nostrils. The scent of safety and belonging, washed over me, a wave of relief so potent it made me so relaxed. The pups were safe. Tucked into the back of a separate car, sleeping soundly, oblivious to the hell they’d been through. Ryan and Kyle had done good. They’d found them exactly where Jake said they would be. Bringing them back felt like bringing a piece of my soul back home. We pulled into the heart of Moonstone, the pack members gathering around, their faces a mixture of joy, relief, and grim determination. The news of the fight, how we defeated Sylvester and Georgia had spread quickly. But the news about Jake and the pups… that was the wound that was still fresh, still bleeding. Ava was being helped out of her car, moving slowly, holding her head. Mitchell was right there beside her, supporting her. Ava
