Ava's POV
I immediately dialled Lucia's number as I crossed the road heading to Jake's house. I hope I find him home. I knew he would surely help me with some money which I would definitely pay back.
Jake was my boyfriend of two years now, and Lucia has been my friend as long as I can remember. Both of them are the only people in my life I knew care enough about me to help me save my mum.
I dialled Lucia's number once more, but the call went to voicemail once again. I decided to let her be, thinking she might be busy and would give me a call later.
I didn't bother dialing Jake's number, I knew he must be home as we were now on summer break and classes are on hold for now.
Lucia, Jake and I all attended the same college. Although, Jake is in another department and a year ahead of me which didn't affect our relationship in any way. If anything, he had always been sweet. I just wish the moon goddess would be so kind to make us mates.
Lucia and I are in the same department and level. We had always been doing things together right from childhood. It's no surprise when we decided to do the same course in the university.
Both Jake and Lucia come from a noble and wealthy family. Jake is the cousin of the current Alpha and Lucia is the daughter of the past Gamma. Lucia's brother is now the one occupying the Gamma position after their father stepped down.
Jake should have some money he can spare me with. That I'm quite sure of. He had always told me if I needed anything, I shouldn't hesitate to let him know so he'd help me out.
It didn't take long for me to get to the apartment Jake was staying across town. I have always wondered why he would have another apartment when he could stay in the royal quarters. And anytime I asked he always said he liked and cherished his privacy.
As soon as I entered Jake's apartment, the first thing that wafted to my nose was a ladies fragrance. Did Jake have a girl over and why does the fragrance smell so oddly familiar? My head kept ringing with questions as I took the last step that led directly to his bedroom. I pushed the door slightly open. And I opened my mouth in shock. The sight that greeted me made my heart break into pieces.
Jake replied and my chest tightened.
For six months they had been making a fool of me. Six good months they had been leading me on. I never suspected a thing. They both know how to cover their tracks.
I fought the fresh bout of tears that were beginning to trickle down my face. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of seeing my tears. Jake doesn't even deserve a tear from my precious eyes.
“Why did you do it?” I decided to ask the question that had been ringing in my head.
“Do what?” Jake's brow furrowed in confusion.
Was he playing dumb or he didn't really know what I was talking about?
“Why did you cheat on me?”
He looked away. And when I had thought he wouldn't give a response, a frown formed at the corner of his eye.
“You are far too rigid. Far too conservative. You don't even allow me to touch you. You are all about the old ways. But with Lucia, it's different. She's welcomed change. Didn't stick with the old ways like you.”
I opened my mouth in awe. I was too shocked to reply immediately. I have never been with a man before. Jake knows that. I thought he was willing to wait. I thought he loved me that much to have waited a little.
“That's why you cheated on me?” I shot my eyes at him. “You cheated simply because of sex. I thought–”
Jake cut me off. “Yes, I cheated because of sex. I'm a man and I have needs.”
I couldn't believe my ears. Did he even love me at all? I wanted to ask but I decided not to. His response will only do further damage to my heart.
“I wish you both a happy life.” I said, giving Lucia a brief look. “And you Jake, everything between us ends today.”
With that, I turned to leave. The tears streamed down my face as I stepped outside the room.
“Ava, wait!”
Jake ran after me and soon I felt his hand draw me back.
“Leave me alone.”
But he grabbed my arms even tighter. He had me pinned to the wall. His hot breath was on my face as he stared at me.
“You don't get to leave me. We are bound together. No one else will want you. You are just a useless omega. You should be grateful I look YOUR FUCKING WAY!”
I couldn't believe my ears. How could a man be so vile? How could I have fallen for such a useless man?
“Get off my way!” I warned sternly. I had no words for him anymore. Lucia was watching the whole scene while standing at the door.
I tried fighting my way off him but his grip only got firmer.
“You go nowhere until I say so!”
I knew I didn't have much power to wrestle my way off him. So I did the only thing I could think of. I kicked him hard in the groin.
“AHH.”
I watched in satisfaction as he recoiled. He was writhing in pain on the floor.
“You don't tell me what to do. Not now, not ever.”
With that I stepped out from the house, a look of satisfaction playing on my face.
Dylan's POVI held the torn cloth to my nose, inhaling deeply. The scent was unmistakable – Sylvester Darkmoon. I could vividly remember his smell from our past encounters. It was a smell that I had grown to despise, a smell that filled me with anger and a desire for revenge."What is it, Dylan?" Damon asked, noticing my tense expression."It's Sylvester," I growled, my eyes scanning the surrounding area. "He's been here."Damon's eyes narrowed. "Are you sure?" he asked.I nodded. "Positive. I'd recognize his scent anywhere."Damon nodded, his eyes scanning around. Within me, I could feel my wolf growl in eagerness—an eagerness to catch Sylvester. Sylvester is a strong wolf who had always terrorize other packs, looting and plundering. Building an army of radical rogues. He had built so much fear around other packs that mentioning his name strikes fear not just to ordinary wolves but also to Alphas. And, seeing that it was beginning to affect my reputation among other wolves, I had to
Ava's POVI walked through the pack gardens, a sickening feeling riling up my belly. We had visitors from the Bloodcrest pack, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Since my mother's death, I had learnt to be wary of Bloodcrest pack, and now, their sudden arrival at Moonstone pack didn't sit well with me.As I turned a corner, I saw them and my eyes suddenly widened. Jake? What the hell was he doing here?A frown creased my brow as I tried to keep my feet steady as I approached them. Jake was standing by with Beta Damian and some of Moonstone’s officials. He was smiling, laughing, and chatting with them as if they were old friends. I narrowed my eyes, my instincts prickling. What was he up to?I got closer to the group, my eyes fixed on Jake. He caught sight of me and his smile widened. "Ava! It's so great to see you!" He stepped forward, his arms open as if he expected me to hug him.I ignored him, walking past him to meet Beta Kane who was also welcoming the group.Beta
Dylan's POVI watched from where I sat in the car as the cloud turned darker. The gust of wind that howled from outside almost looked scary. It had been almost a day since I left the Moonstone pack and was now on the way to hunt down Kylian and the other wolves in Joja plains. We left the Moonstone pack with ten cars in total, and most of the pack fighters seem to be ever ready for the adventure ahead. I could tell how thrilled they are with the thought of taking Kylian and the other rogues down. "Looks like a storm is brewing," one of my warriors, Caleb, shouted above the rising wind.I nodded, scanning the sky. "Let's find shelter. We don't want to get caught in this storm."I made them drive all the cars towards a small cave some distance away. That should shelter us from the angry storm that seems to tear away the peace from the cool evening. As we stepped down from the car, the wind howled harder, and the rain lashed down, soaking us to the bone. We huddled together towards the
Ava's POV I walked down the corridor, my heart heavy with concern. I had been thinking about Marietta nonstop since her interrogation. I couldn't believe her involvement in the prison event, but at the same time, I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. Marietta has always been a friend to me. She was one of the very few people who had welcomed me to this pack. She was one of the few people who made me feel confident about myself in this huge pack. She was a meek and humble lady, the kind of person who believes that everyone deserves to be treated with respect—irrespective of their position in the pack, Marietta was that and more. So, I know within me I needed to find out what has changed? Or had she been putting up a front all the time I have known her? I shook my head in doubt and then I shifted my gaze towards the prison environment. As I approached the prison cells, I saw the guards standing outside. I could recognize one of them from the last time I was here in the prison. He
Dylan's POVI stood in the interrogation room, my eyes fixed on Marietta as the guards held her in place. "Stop!" I ordered, my voice firm. The guards halted, looking at me for further instructions.Marietta looked up at me, a mixture of fear and desperation in her eyes. "Alpha, please," she begged. "I'll tell you everything. Just don't let them take me away."I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "What do you know, Marietta?" I asked, my voice firm.Marietta took a deep breath before speaking. "I know where Kylian is," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "He's in the Joja plains, I can lead you right to him, Alpha.”My eyes narrowed. "Joja plains?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.Marietta nodded sharply. “And what the hell is he doing there?”Marietta hesitated before responding. "He's with Phil's warriors," she said. "He's become one of their top members."I felt a surge of anger. Kylian now a top member amongst Phil's warriors? It was no surprise, but it still stung."What else do
Dylan's POVI stood outside the interrogation room, my heart raging at Marietta's treachery. She was inside, waiting for me. I had received the evidence I needed to prove her guilty, and now it was time to confront her.Kane and Damon stood beside me, their faces set in serious expressions. We had all been betrayed by Marietta's action, and we would see to it that she gets her deserved punishment."Let's do this," I said, nodding to Kane and Damon. We entered the interrogation room, and Marietta looked up at us with a mixture of fear and defiance in her eyes. I walked over to the table and sat down across from her, Kane and Damon standing behind me."Marietta," I started, my voice firm but controlled. "We know what you've been doing. We know you're involved in the recent events at the prison."Marietta's eyes widened, and she shook her head. "I don't know what you're talking about, Alpha," she said, her voice trembling.I sighed, rubbing my temples. I had expected her to deny it, but
