Chapter 4

Author: Seven Seas
During my two days in the hospital, Nick completely vanished from my life. Later, I saw his Instagram updates from Valentine's Day, showing him and Sherry riding the Ferris wheel together, participating in the "Kiss for One Minute at the Top" challenge.

The sight made my wolf snarl in disgust. My mate, the Alpha who had sworn to protect and cherish me, was now parading his affection for another she-wolf as if our bond had never mattered.

When I got home, I gathered every wedding item I had personally picked out and gave them away to the household staff. I let them choose whatever they liked.

Then, I scrolled through the photos of Nick and me on my phone one last time, deleting them one by one. With each deleted image, I felt the last shreds of our bond thinning, snapping like fragile threads.

It was time to say goodbye to the past and begin my new life.

Once I was done, I opened the supplements the healer had prescribed—herbal extracts to help my body recover—and took one. Just then, Nick returned. He spotted the supplements and cheerfully put them back in their gift box, clumsily but carefully retying the ribbon.

"That's thoughtful of you for getting these supplements for Sherry. She really needs them right now to strengthen... her health," he said.

I did not bother correcting him. I knew it was not a supplement to strengthen her body, but rather to support her pregnancy.

Without hesitation, I snatched the box from his hands, grabbed a pair of scissors, and cut the ribbon apart. Then, I walked to the sink and dumped the entire bottle of pills down the drain.

Nick roared, "You heartless woman! You know Sherry almost miscarried—and you wouldn't even spare a single bottle of supplements for her?"

"That's right," I replied calmly.

Nick angrily threw the empty box into the trash can and called his Beta, demanding he buy new supplements and deliver them immediately. Suddenly, he noticed that many things in our house were missing, including our matching coasters on the kitchen counter.

He asked, "Flora, what happened to all those wedding items you bought for us?"

Seemingly remembering I was bleeding, he added, "Why are you so pale? Was your period really that bad this time?"

Looking at the concern in Nick's eyes, I calmly shook my head. He was just a stranger now, no longer entitled to be part of my life.

Seeing my denial, Nick visibly relaxed and spoke to me with rare gentleness. "Don't be upset about those harsh things I said before. I was just looking out for you."

"You mentioned needing a bridesmaid for the ceremony. I've decided to let Sherry be your bridesmaid," he offered.

"Fine," I replied.

Nick froze, confused as to why I would refuse to give Sherry supplements yet agree to have her as my bridesmaid. In truth, I was simply preparing for the day I would leave him at the altar.

He kissed my forehead and said, "Whatever upset you, just let it go. After we're done with the wedding, I'll take you on vacation. I'll spend every single day with you so you can get pregnant with our pup soon!"

"Sure," I replied.

He planted another firm kiss on my cheek. "You don't look well, so you should just rest at home. I'll take Sherry to pick out her bridesmaid dress and come right back to keep you company."

"Okay," I responded.

After he left to find Sherry, I vigorously scrubbed my face at the sink—his saliva was disgusting. His scent, once intoxicating and comforting, now reeked of betrayal. My wolf curled inside me, vowing that no matter what, we would never submit to him again.

  • Escaping My Mate   Chapter 10

Nick's eyes were surrounded by massive dark circles, his face was unshaven, and his typically immaculate clothes were filthy and disheveled. He looked more like a stray wolf than the Alpha I once knew.I immediately turned to walk off the stage, but Nick grabbed the microphone from the lead dancer. He looked at me and shouted, "Flora, I love you!"I was under the influence of some hallucinogenic wolfsbane before, but now I'm clear-headed. Give me a chance to make things right! I'll say it a hundred times, a thousand times—I love you!"However, there were no familiar screams or applause this time, and the hall remained completely silent. Then, the lead dancer quietly asked me who he was. I shook my head and calmly replied, "A stranger." Francis' security team and the venue's guards rushed onto the stage to drag Nick away. After his microphone was snatched back, he yelled, "I've got rid of Sherry and that child. Do you believe I'm sincere now?"He continued, "If I can't have you,

  • Escaping My Mate   Chapter 9

My mother and Francis had heard most of my conversation with Nick, and they looked at me with concern. I felt differently though—a brand-new future stretched before me, and the suffering of the past had finally faded like dust in the wind.Back home, I enjoyed delicious meals daily, felt at ease, and grew more energetic with each passing day. My biggest concern was my visible weight gain, which for a dancer like me, felt practically sinful. When the top dance company's manager heard I had returned, he reached out and invited me to be their choreographer and mentor. I found myself back on stage again, directing rehearsals, even busier than before. Each day, I immersed myself in the dance career I loved, finding greater fulfillment as a seasoned professional. During my free time, Francis, my other family, and friends took turns taking me sightseeing, out for afternoon tea, and to concerts.I understood they were trying their best to keep me occupied, making sure my life was full of

  • Escaping My Mate   Chapter 8

Nick repeatedly tried to interrupt me, but he could not get a word out of it. So, he could only speak after I finished. He said, "Flora, you've completely misunderstood me! You've got it all wrong! Please, come back to me, and I'll explain everything in person."I did not know what there was to explain. I wondered if he would say that I was being difficult and that I should have expressed my dissatisfaction privately instead of having him and Sherry receive my package at the ceremony.I truly hated how he always tried to make me get along with Sherry. After all, if it were not for him, I would never have met Sherry or been stabbed by her.Sherry had always been infatuated with him, but as an Omega, she could only keep her feelings hidden. My first encounter with Sherry was when she recorded Nick's public declaration of love at the basketball game. She sent me the video saying how moved she was, claiming to be the Alpha's fan. She said that since I was going to be his Luna, she h

That was when I remembered to check my phone and discovered over a hundred missed calls—all from one person: Nick. It was more calls than he had made to me in the entire past decade combined.I wondered if my phone had caught a virus because both my WhatsApp and Messages exploded with notifications the moment I opened them. They were all from Nick too.I did not want to read any of them and was about to turn off my phone when his call came through. He asked frantically, "Flora! Thank the Moon Goddess, you finally answered! Where did you go?"He continued, "I kept calling, and you wouldn't pick up. You didn't reply to my messages either. Do you have any idea how worried I was?"I knew that day you didn't like that dress, right? It's all my fault for being too busy and overlooking it. I'll order you a new one—just don't be mad at me, okay?"He added, "You even cut up the card I gave you. Was it because you thought the money wasn't enough? That was everything in my personal account!

  • Escaping My Mate   Chapter 6

On the way home, my heart pounded in my chest. I was terrified that Nick would come after me. After all, he was used to me obeying his every command without question. But this time, not only did I fail to show up at the wedding, I also sent him a special delivery. He must have lost his mind with rage. I burst into laughter as I imagined the look on his face.Nick never truly understood me. He never realized that I had always been a rebellious girl chasing my dreams and that I used to love standing under the stage lights, basking in the audience's applause. To him, I was nothing more than a dutiful housewife, patiently waiting for him to come home. But this time, I didn't even give him a chance to stop me—I ran before he could try.I thought back to ten years ago when I'd first tried to leave. I had been foolish enough to leave him a goodbye letter, giving him the chance to stop me.He went straight to my parents, crying and begging them, saying he could not live without me. Then,

  • Escaping My Mate   Chapter 5

The owner of the bridal shop called me. "Flora, does Alpha Nick have a twin brother? Someone who looks just like him brought a woman in, saying she was trying on your wedding dress for you. He even asked me to alter the dress to her size!"I kept my voice calm. "It's fine. Just do what he says. Make sure he pays for it."Later, Nick brought back two outfits for me to try on. I ignored him while coldly watching as he caressed the wedding gown that had been altered to Sherry's measurements, his eyes full of tenderness. He was clearly fantasizing about Sherry wearing the dress and marrying him, his face radiating happiness."Flora, it's a trend now for bridesmaids and the Luna to wear extravagant dresses," he said casually. "It's fine with me," I replied. My wedding gown, worth hundreds of thousands, had been altered to fit Sherry, while the other cheap, off-the-rack dress was in my size. I was nothing more than a background decoration in Nick's eyes—a dull, insignificant shadow st
