It’s about 11 at night. Everyone is finally asleep. I quietly dig in my bag. Once I have everything I need, I use the tree outside our window to reach the ground. I move at a swift run down the streets. Winding through the high rise city. The blinding lights and fancy stores don’t distract me from running to the stunning building.
I catch my breath before heading into the lobby and swaggering to the desk. Faye is replaced by Pixie.“I’m here for Mr Texiera.” I say to the receptionist.“You can go up.” She gestures to the elevator. “Floor 4.”I head to the elevator. Once the doors close I drop the bag on the floor and look in the mirror. I straighten my black leather shorts and tug the collar of my ankle length black coat. I straighten the top hat with bunny ears on my head, the hat hiding my hair. No makeup. The scar on my cheek still a sickly sweet pink. The door opens and I grab the bag. Walking into a room full of powerful men and their sex toys on legs.“Ahh. My Pixie. It’s lovely to see you again. You you look different than the last time I saw you. If I wasn’t expecting you, I wouldn’t have recognised you.” His think Italian accent booms through the room.“I’m not your Pixie. And seeing as the last time you saw me I was what, 14. I’d say I’ve grown up a bit. I got boobs. Although, from what I can see, you all look like ass man.” I saunter over to his desk.“Haha. Funny girl.” He laughs but it doesn’t meet his eyes. “Do you have what I asked for?”“Yes I do.” I drop the bag on his desk. “I hope you know the trouble this caused me. Traveling with a million dollars worth of pure heroine in a bag. Especially taking it through airport security. Your lucky I don’t charge you extra for that.”“You already are charging me extra.” He’s pissed. “Because you’re delivering it.”“Oh, but you asked asked for that.”“Yes. And now that you’re here, I want to talk about our last transaction. You know, the one where you conned me out of 2 million dollars.”“Impatience has a price.” I retort.“And now I want retribution.”“I didn’t do anything wrong.” I mock and put my hands up.“You charged me extra for a delivery you’d already sent.”“So what? You want your money back? You want one of my fingers? What do you want from me.”“I want to leave a mark on you. Remind you exactly who has the power here.” He bends his finger and his men slowly take out their knives and guns and begin to close in on me.“That would be me.” I say with a smirk. “It was awe full, as usual, doing business with you Tony. But it’s time for me to go. And, just so you know exactly who has the power here, if you lap dogs leave a mark on me, I won’t supply you anymore. Have a nice evening. But, I hope, you fall, in a ditch.”“Now!” He booms. The men all lunge towards me. Good thing a know this building inside out and back to front. I simply jump out the window. I land on the balcony a level down. My feet tingle on impact. I break the glass and climb through that window. Once I’m back inside, I run through the empty trade floor and sprint down to the underground level. Once there a take my pick of the cars. Tony’s shiny black Audi is sitting unprotected. I manage to break the window and Hotwire the thing before driving out.Tonys lackeys aren’t far behind. They climb into their SUV’s and begin shooting at me. Fun.I head onto the freeway and put foot. This car is a power house. I’ve hit about 300km/hr and almost miss my exit. I zoot across the 5 lane freeway and slow down. Parking the car in and abandoned parking lot, I start the job back to the hotel.Once I’m at the hotel, I can’t for that life me remember which window is my room. So I start climbing the tree again and hope for the best. One of the higher branches gives way and I slam it it he side of the tree.“Fuck!” I whisper. My shoulder took the brunt of it but warmth trickling down my cheek let’s me know I’ve taken some of the stitches.I manage to find my window but when I closed it earlier, it locked. Shit! I move across the row until I find an open window. Bingo.___________________________JaredA cool breeze sweeps into the room as I’m brushing my teeth. Nick’s in some chicks room for the night so I don’t have to ask him if he doesn’t mind that I close the window. I just head over and begin to close it.‘Don’t.’ Flint says.‘Why?’ I ask back confused.‘I don’t know. Just, don’t.’ He seems conflicted.‘Okay.’ I walk away, leaving the window fully open.____________________________FayeThe rooms dark and whoever’s occupying it isn’t awake.I swing my legs through the window and sit on the ledge.“Hands where I can see them.” I deep voice comes from the dark.“Hey Jared. Mind if I slip through?”“Faye! What are you doing.”“Getting back to my room.”“What the fuck?” He says."What? Have you never climbed through a strangers hotel window before?""No. I haven't.""You don't expect me to believe that now do you?" I bite my bottom lip as I lower myself from tiptoes onto flat feet.“I’m not that kind of guy.”“Well clearly I am that kind of girl.”His voice turns dark. “You’re bleeding.”“What?”“You’re bleeding.” He begins reaching out to me.“It’s nothing.” I absentmindedly lift my hand to my cheek and the oozing wound beneath my fingers. “Just a little scratch is all.”“Let me see.”“I’m really fine.” I head towards the door.“You broke into my room. The least you could do is tell me why while I clean your wound.”“You left your window open. You’re luck it was me who climbed through it and not someone else.”“And why is that?”“I’m just passing through. Someone else might have stolen from you. Or in Daisy case, jump you while you were least expecting it.” I slip out through the door and softly close it behind me. I can still hear his chuckle through the door. His sweet gorgeous chuckle.10 Months Later Jared “I’m going into town for a few things. Wanna come with? We can get a milkshake.” Chiara says as she leans against my office door way. “I’m busy at the moment.” I don’t even look up at her. “I’m only leaving in 15 minutes. If you change your mind, you know where to find me.” She sighs and walks out. I lean back and sigh as well. The last little while had been hectic. I know Chi is just trying to make it better so I finish my last few papers and head downstairs to meet Chiara. We drive around town and buy a couple of things before heading to the square with all the restaurants. On our little walk, I feel Flint stirring. I haven’t felt or heard from him since the day after the fire. As we pass a fancy restaurant, he snaps to attention. ‘She’s here!’ I howls.
Today has been a long, hard day. I’m ready to draw a long bubble bath and eat pad Thai and Spring rolls while watching Big Bang reruns after Alessio collects his order. I climb out my car and start unlocking the front door. I feel a body pressed against mine and something cool against my throat. “Hold still.” A deep manic voice sounds in my ear. “I just want the cocaine and no one gets hurt.” I close my eyes and take a breath, thinking of how to get myself out of this situation. He’s positioned himself so I can’t go for the crotch and he’s too tall for me to head butt into his nose. He angles the knife so it pierced my skin and I let out a muffled groan. “Open the door.” He hisses, spit splattering my cheek. I slowly turn the key in the lock and then pause. Hurry up Les, please. He moves the knife further into my skin
My mother is sober when I fetch her. Which means she throws ever insult and snide remark she can as we drive to the house.I’ve learnt to ignore her. I suppose that’s how I’m so good at ignoring everyone else. My former friend group tried to ‘fix it’ but I shut all of that down very quickly. Chiara and Danika’s group then had their attempt which had the same result. Hadley attempted to ‘collect the date you owe me’ but I turned him down which resulted in a lot of anger, him grabbing me and the two of us fighting in the halls. “Those bruises are very ugly, Freya.” My mother coos from besides me. “How do you expect to find a husband looking like that?” No concern for me. Never any concern for me. Not “is it a boy who did that too you?”, “do we need to file a report against someone?” Or simply “are you okay darling?
The entire field turns to look at us. The loud mouthed boy looks shocked before he falls to the ground and clutches is bleeding arm, crying. “Anyone else?” I turn completely around to the group of boys who are all silent and shaking their heads. “Right! Gather round and we can start. If you wish to see the pack doctors, go. But know I won’t wait for you or catch you up. The bullet didn’t hit anything vital, it went straight through and because you’re a wolf the bleeding has already stopped and will be healed in a few minutes.” He decided to stay and gathers with the other boys while sobbing. “Let’s start with the basics, how to clean the weapons.” _____________________Jared Everyone stops dead as the gun shot goes off. Flint screams at me to find Faye. We might not be on the best terms right now but she is still my mate and I need to protect her. As we
Wednesday evening comes quickly because I had a lot of order to prep so I skipped school. The people at my house thankfully made themselves busy outside of the house for the day. Weather it was pleasure or business, I don’t care. So I’m surprised when I have to turn my lights on in my office. “Hey Pix.” Reece walks into my office. “I’m busy.” I don’t even look up from my stack of finance papers. “I’m getting tired of your attitude.” He spits at me. “Then leave me alone. My attitude can’t bother you if you’re not around me.” “You truly are a spoiled brat.” He Scottish accent always gets stronger when he’s angry. “After everything we did for you, I did for you, this is how you treat me?” He stalks towards me. “I owe you nothing.” I sit back in my chair and place my arms on the rests w
Unknown POV We head through the airport with an aura of ‘don’t fuck with us’. As we walk through the gates, the only person in the place leans on a far wall. If it wasn’t for the copper hair I would’ve missed the slender figure dressed in all black. We head over to her and she pushes off the wall. She almost snarls as I smirk at her. “It’s been a long time, Pix.” “Not long enough.”_________________Faye The drive home is uncomfortable to say the least. Reece drives my car and I give directions. If I’d know it was him coming I would’ve prepared myself better. I recognise most of the men in the party of 10 across the 3 cars from my younger years in Scotland. Most of them in their late 20’s, early 30’s now. All excellent at their jobs. Some of them are as young, if not younger then I am. Those I do
