How do you feel about this chapter? Let me know, don't be silent! Thanks for reading. <3
The other side was a dungeon? Unbelievable! Kendra had heard many stories about the afterlife, but she had never imagined that it would be a dungeon. But then again, it wasn’t exactly surprising for the female Beta. Mankind was alive, meaning there was no way something alive would have any idea about the unknown, no matter how much they claimed— no matter how they tried to get it right. It just wasn’t going to work. Everything seemed hazy for the young she-wolf as she tried to recall the circumstances that had led her here— right into this very moment. She remembered rejecting the General. Her heart warmed in anger again as she thought about the whole thing— how the gods and goddesses just wouldn’t leave her alone. The funny thing was that mankind was supposed to be in an era where things were different— where science was just starting to take over, where evidence beat belief any day, anytime, but it seemed like people were turning back to them even more than before. She was so
It felt like an eternity since Kendra had been imprisoned in the damned cell. She had no idea what time it was— what day it was, seeing as it was always dark, with light from one single torch being the only source of illumination in the small space. The female beta had barely caught any sleep as well, fearing the huge rats that seemed to share the cell with her— vile rodents that nibbled at her feet as soon as they caught her dozing off. She generally hated the pests with a passion, so this was literally hell for her. But even with all of that, that was honestly the least of her worries. She had no idea how many days she had been locked up in there, and she was so worried for Killian. For him not to have come charging in here by now, ready to save her like he always did had to mean that something was seriously wrong, and her heart hurt just from overthinking— from imagining worst case scenarios. She prayed to whoever cared to listen that he was okay— it was all she had been doing
“Y-you’re the Silver Witch?” Kendra asked in open amazement. The woman standing before her did not look a day over twenty five, and from what the she wolf had heard, the Silver witch was more than two centuries old. “Indeed I am,” “B-but, I don’t understand… you look so young!” A part of her thought maybe she was being fooled… and with the way things had been going for her, it was only normal that she’d feel that way— that she’d be quite paranoid of this silver lining that seemed to have fallen right onto her lap. The dreadlocked woman dressed in a flowing, beautiful, thick, white robe with a hood stepped away from the cauldron. She moved towards the distressed, dung covered woman, her head cocked to the side in curiosity. Snapping her fingers, she said, “KLERE VERANDER!” and Kendra’s rag for clothes vanished, only to be replaced with a stunning red fitting bodice that seemed to have been sewn together with a matching set of breeches. The she wolf’s hands tentatively reached out to
“Where is she?” “S-s-she’s gone, General,” The tall wiry man stammered in fear as he watched the man famous for his ruthless killings looming over him. His greatest fear was going to be lived any moment from now. The General was going to kill him. He just knew it. And knowing the General, it wasn’t going to be a quick, easy death. Every second was going to be torture. “What do you mean by she’s gone? How did it happen?” He heard the blond haired man ask, and he quickly responded, replaying the whole scene for the man whose face became redder and redder with each word that flew out of his mouth. By the time he was done, the General was positively fuming. “I GAVE YOU ONE TASK! ONE FUCKING TASK, AND YOU FAILED AT IT.” “I-I thought she was dying sir, and I knew if I didn’t do anything to help her out too, I w-would be in trouble if s-something should have happened t-to her.” Alaric Macintyre knew that the soldier was right, but he was too far gone in his fury, in his bitterness to s
After almost a whole day of hitching rides, going without food and barely getting a few drops of water into her parched body, Kendra finally made it into the small werewolf town that was Dnakle. She was back in rags now, seeing as at some point she had had to exchange her beautiful clothes for a ride, and now her once bone straight hair had long gone back to its usual curly mess. She was tired and dirty, and could barely stand on her feet, her own human hunger and her wolf’s completely taking a toll on her, and yet never had she looked more radiant. It was almost as though her soul— as though her wolf could sense its soul mate… sense that he was near. The joy that welled up in her heart at that fact was so inexplicable that it was crazy. But she had missed him.Gods, she really had.The first thing she was going to do when she saw him will be to jump into his arms and kiss him senseless, promising him with her words, with her mouth, that she would never leave him alone like she had ev
For such a small town, Beta Kendra Sullivan found the Alpha’s palace a little too ostentatious for her liking. Almost everywhere they passed, if it wasn’t adorned in gold, then it was diamond or some other flamboyant, rich metal. When the nice, kind old man, Saul, informed her that they were going to have to be granted a meeting with the Alpha first before anything else, Kendra knew that they were going to be attacked with the tedious procedures of bureaucracy and protocol. Seeing the male and female wolves in the little town, going about their activities had stirred a feeling that Kendra identified very well. She missed her pack. A part of her wondered if Killian felt the same. If she as Beta was feeling this nostalgic, she could only imagine how he as Alpha was feeling. She thought about her new found female friends… young Elinor, Rhea, Miguel and Dante, wondered how they were faring in an entirely new pack that probably had a completely different way of doing things. Kendra ev
Kendra! His mate had finally returned to him! In that split second that they stood there, staring at each other, a lot of emotions flashed in the Alpha’s eyes; Elation, at the wonderful miracle of seeing her again, Guilt, at the compromising position she had seen him in, And finally, blood searing rage at the sight of other wolves manhandling his mate like that. “Let go of her, she’s with me,” He growled lowly, angrily as he menacingly closed the distance between them. The guards did as he had asked, finding the Alpha aura emanating from him quite too powerful to bear. One step, And then another. And he and Kendra were standing face to face. He did not wait for her to think much of it, he just pulled her against him and roughly claimed her mouth, revealing to her all the emotions that were coursing through him that he couldn’t really explain with words. She kissed him back with just as much frenzy, the people standing beside them forgotten, the fact that she was probably sme
You would think that after such a traumatic past day, now that Kendra was installed in a plush room with everything she could possibly need, her hair and body washed, and her clothes changed into something fresh and comfortable, sleep would naturally come to her, especially since she was lying on that huge bed with sheets so soft that it was as though she were sleeping on clouds or feathers, but it was far from that. She couldn’t sleep. No. Not after her conversation with Killian. The past five days had completely changed him, and not only appearance wise. This was a whole new Killian, she could barely recognize him, and it had just been five days. Silver Crest can wait. She couldn’t stop playing his words over and over again. The Killian she knew would die before those words ever tumbled out of his mouth. The Killian she knew always put his pack above everything else— above himself even. But now, he wanted to play superhero to another pack that coul
