Chapter 14- Seeking Answers
Love.
Now Killian just had to laugh at that.
As much as that would have been a very wonderful piece of news, it was unfortunately not true. There was no way he was in love with Kendra.
No literally, there was no way.
He had been cursed. Or had everyone suddenly forgotten about that?
“You seem to have forgotten that I’m still cursed—”
“No, I know that… but think about it, man…” Tyrone cut him off excitedly, “Until yesterday, you thought you were impotent… hell, we all thought you were. Honestly speaking, I’d wager everything I have if it came down to it, but I think you’re slowly breaking all the other aspects of the curse, Killian.”
Killian pondered over the blonde Alpha’s words…
Could he be telling the truth?
And if he was, what did that mean for him?

Chapter 16- The Rejection “Maymunah? What are you doing?” Killian asked in confusion. “Come on, get up Maymunah…” Kendra quickly rushed to her side, “What were you thinking, kneeling down like that?” The she-wolf helped the old hag to her feet. “What’s going on?” She and Killian both asked at the same time, waiting for the Oracle’s reply. But the old woman continued to move about, seeming exceptionally happy all of a sudden. “Oh, you two clueless pups,” She finally said. “Don’t you see? The goddess of the moon has come to our aid. The curse has been broken.” “I-I don’t understand.” Kendra shook her head in confusion. What was going on with the Seer? Had the over-exertion perhaps affected her in more ways than they could imagine? Because she was really acting all weird. “Kendra, Killian. CHAPTER 17- Elinor Kendra knew now what true loneliness was. She thought she did before, but she had never realised that there was loneliness, and then there was loneliness. She now understood the word in its true, raw form. Artemis had gone back to her hometown for a little while Rhea, her nanny had also gone to Kreiway to see her bouncy baby grandson. As for Maymunah, the she-wolf told herself that she’d rather hang at the gallows than go seeking the old hag’s company. She was still angry with the Oracle… because it wasn’t as though she could exactly go and pour her frustrations out on Selene, the goddess of the moon— so Maymunah was a close enough second. CHAPTER 18- Artemis returns “Beta Sullivan, today’s milled corn’s looking coarser than usual. Is that supposed to happen?” Kendra chuckled at the question. Normally she’d have no knowledge on that, but her love for reading had made her quite the expert. “Well, technically, no… but it does happen sometimes, Mavis.” She addressed the short, chubby, woman with raven dark hair. “And I’ve told you to call me Kendra.” “I’m sorry, milady— I mean, Kendra…” The older woman corrected with a soft chuckle, “That is going to take some time to get used to.” Kendra giggled. “No problem. Take all the time you need. Now back to the corn… you’ll have to mill it again. Keep doing it until the fineness is up to your taste, alright?” “Yes, mi—Kendra.” Kendra laughed out loud as she watched the older woman leave, going back to her work of sorting out lentils. She had to admit, working with the women wasn’t so bad… At all. She had had more fun in the past week than she had had her entire adult life

Who knew it was going to take one of their now routine fall outs to get Kendra to befriend the she-wolves in the pack? Honestly speaking, Killian never thought he’d live to see the day that happened. He hadn’t believed Miguel when he had reported his observations, and so he had sent Dante, who only came back with the same news. In the end, he had gone himself to absolutely confirm the miracle… even though he had made sure that she didn’t see him. For her to agree to hang out with the she-wolves rather than spar told him just how much she wanted to avoid him this time. And so he was going to respect her decision. If Killian was being honest with himself, he was doing all of this because he still had a sliver of hope in his heart that all wasn’t too late— that she was going to come around eventually. Maymunah wanted to see her. Kendra had half a mind to ignore the Oracle’s summons, but she had been told that it seemed urgent. And Kendra knew that Maymunah was usually the type to wait for you to cool down and approach her on your own. She didn’t go seeking people out like that, especially when she knew they were angry at her. So she found herself heading towards the old woman’s wing, clad in just her nightwear and a robe, but not really caring because it was just going to be the two of them, and she wasn’t really going to spend much time there. Imagine her surprise when she got there only to realise that they were not alone. At that point, turning back to go and change seemed like a really unnecessary thing to do. It wasn’t exactly as if she was completely naked, hell… you could even call her nightwear fairly decent as compared to some of the things the other she-wolves strutted about in in the guise of clothes. And so Kendra entered the room, greeting the two inhabitants… a b

Kendra had seriously had enough. The heated, stolen gazes, the professional, innocent but desire-packed touches… It was all a bit too much for the Beta. Especially when she seemed to be the one suffering the most between the two of them. For some reason, Killian seemed to have had complete control over himself in all the times they had interacted, but she? Everything he did had her feeling some type of way… She felt flustered when he looked in her direction, She felt cackling sparks of electricity when their fingers brushed each other’s unintentionally, And gods, don’t even get her started on their sparring sessions. Kendra was really being tortured. It was thankfully the end of a long, arduous, week, but oh, the female Beta had a plan. It had been brewing in her soul all week, so much so that she had carefully given it all kinds of contemplations and assessment. Tuesday morn. Killian stared long and hard at his reflection in the mirror as he adjusted his cravat. If one looked real close, they would have seen the shine in his eyes… the shine that was half tears, half determination. Oh, but men didn’t cry, And Alphas definitely had that dreaded word deleted from their vocabulary. The Alpha of the Silver Crest Pack had this heavy feeling in his chest, and you definitely would have one too if you had to do what he was about to in a few minutes. ‘Alpha, everything is set.’ His gamma, Miguel announced through the mind link. The hour had finally come, it seemed. ‘Is she still in her chambers?’ ‘Yes, Alpha. Rhea is in there with her as we speak, she wouldn’t be coming out any time soon.’ Came the reply. Good. ‘I’ll be with you shortly,’ Killian finally said, shutting off the mind link.
