It had been a week and five days since Grandpa Lucky’s dinner, a week and five days since Hades had last truly spoken to his wife.

A week and five days of calculated, chilling silence. He made sure Claudine felt it.

He slept in his work office now, a luxurious, self-contained space adjoining his large bedroom, but distinctly separate. No shared meals, no casual conversation, no lingering glances.

Nothing. Just the cold, deliberate absence of his voice.

He observed her, of course. He always did.

From his own point, she moved through the mansion like a ghost, a dejected shadow. He noticed her spending hours in the gym, the rhythmic noises of her training echoing faintly through the house.

And then, the smell of cooking would drift from the kitchen, richer and more complex than anything Dave, their in-house chef, usually jovial.

Claudine was cooking more.

He saw her in there, sometimes, through the kitchen archway, her back to him, focused on chopping or stirring. It seemed to bring her

The next day, Claudine’s head was a storm of disbelief and despair. She hadn’t slept a wink. Dave’s words kept replaying in her mind, a cruel, mocking chorus. She needed to know for sure. This terrifying possibility, this joke the universe was playing, had to be confirmed. Or denied. She prayed for denied. She found Artemis in the main hall, her usual calm presence a small comfort. Claudine had put on the loosest clothes she could find, a big, flowing dress that hid her figure. She felt pale, sick to her stomach, and not just from nerves.“Artemis,” Claudine said, her voice strained, trying to sound casual, but her hand subtly pressed against her stomach. “I’m feeling a bit... under the weather, you know? A bit green around the gills. I need to pop over to a clinic. Or a hospital. Just a quick check-up. Nothing serious, just a bug that’s been bugging me something fierce. A real nuisance.” She wasn’t lying about feeling sick, not really. She felt sick with dread.Artemis looked at her,

The mansion was quiet, the kind of quiet that made your own thoughts sound like a proper racket in the night.Claudine lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, her mind a proper mess. It had been a month now. A whole month since well- coughs, coughs- acting like a normal couple. A month since she’d missed her period. Twice. This was the second time, a full two months now. It was playing on her mind something fierce, a constant, nagging worry. She was on birth control pills, wasn’t she? Always had been. Maybe this was the side effect many women never spoke off. But then, a memory, hazy like a dream, popped into her head. There was that week, maybe two, when she’d been a bit lazy, a bit too caught up in... well, in Hades.Their sex had been non-stop, a proper whirlwind, and she’d forgotten a few pills. Just a few. Could it really be possible? Could she actually be pregnant? The thought hit her like a punch to the gut. No. No way. This was a joke. The universe was having a right laugh at

Their two weeks in LA were a blur of intense romance and successful business deals. They were lovey-dovey, always touching, always close. It should feel good right? Only that it didn’t feel like a worthy moment for Claudine.she felt sick. He was good at mixing business with pleasure, and she found herself falling deeper into his world, despite all her warnings to herself.“This is quite the working vacation, Hadeson,” she said one evening, wrapped in his arms on their hotel balcony, looking out at the city lights. “You’re certainly good at mixing business with... pleasure. Or is it pleasure with business?”He pulled her closer, kissing her bare shoulder. “Only when the pleasure is you, wifey. You’re the best deal I’ve ever closed. The most profitable acquisition.”They had mad sex, often and everywhere. The hotel suite became their private playground, a place for endless nights of passion. She was on contraceptives, so there were no worries, just pure, unbridled desire. He was extre

The city lights blurred as Hades’s car sped through the night. He was on his way back to the mansion, his mind reeling from the casino confrontation and the hot images Claudine had sent him. By the time he got back, the house was quiet, dark. He took the stairs 3 at a time, panting heavily and opened the door to find Claudine asleep in their bed, tangled in the sheets, her blonde curls in a silk bonnet resting on the pillow. She looked like an angel, completely innocent. He took a quick shower, letting the hot water wash away the casino’s chaos and the lingering tension from his fight with Gregory, that bastard knew how to get on his nerves.Hades finished and slipped into bed beside her, pulling her close to literally breath her in and bask in her warmth, it was a very cringe habit he had picked up on.She stirred, a soft moan escaping her lips, and snuggled into his side, her body warm and soft against his. He buried his face in her hair, inhaling her scent, feeling a strange sens

Gregory•The call came through right as Cassie was finishing her little show and he was about getting ready to step out. Gregory’s phone buzzed, and he saw the name. It was one of his men, sounding rather rattled.“Boss, Hades is at Vito Carbone’s place. The old man’s underground boxing ring casino. He’s making moves on Vito’s business, trying to get his hooks in. Looks like he’s trying to cut you out.”Gregory’s eyes flashed. Vito Carbone. The late Vito Carbone. His empire was up for grabs, and Hades had always had his eye on it. This was a challenge, a direct hit at his own ambitions. He stood up, pushing Cassie gently off his lap. “Get the car ready. We’re going to the casino. Now.”Cassie raised an eyebrow, a knowing look on her face. “Oh? A family reunion, perhaps? Or just a bit of brotherly competition?”Gregory just smirked, a cold, hard thing. “Something like that. And I’ll need you to act the part tonight.”••Hades~The New York casino was a blur of flashing lights and lou

Gregory’s•Gregory was perched on the edge of his penthouse balcony, a glass of amber liquid swirling in his hand. The New York skyline stretched out before him, a million tiny lights that looked like scattered jewels. He had a smile on his face, but it was a cold, sharp thing, the kind that promised trouble. He was a wild one, a proper lunatic, always looking for a way to stir the pot, especially when it came to his brother, Hades. And Claudine? She was a constant buzz in his head, a tune he couldn’t get out.‘She was his, mine, he thought, the idea a hot coal in his gut, burning him from the inside out. A prize that Hades stole. And I’ll find a way to reclaim her. She’s a forbidden fruit I intend to taste. Hades is too blind to see what she really is. He’s a fool, a lovesick puppy, wrapped around her little finger. But I’ll make him see. I’ll make him pay for everything. For taking what was mine.’For every slight, every insult, every time he made me feel less than him. He closed h
