~THE MOMENT OF TRUTH~

AMAYA’S POV

I climbed the stairs leading to the top floor of the house.

This part of the house belonged entirely to Ethan. The atmosphere shifted completely the moment I stepped onto the floor, turning quiet and intensely private. Like I had crossed into a space few people were allowed to enter.

A comfortable sitting area occupied one side, with a sleek bar tucked into the corner. Everything reflected him, expensive taste, and a strange sense of order.

~ANGRY BIRD~ AMAYA’S POV He was seated behind his desk, his tie gone, the top buttons of his shirt undone. His attention was fixed on the laptop in front of him, fingers moving across the keyboard as if he hadn’t noticed me walk in. I stopped in front of his desk. “Can we talk?” I asked quietly. Without looking up, he answered, “No, Amaya. I don’t want to talk right now.” His calm tone somehow stung more than if he’d shouted. I glanced at the door, wondering if I should just leave. Instead, I walked around the desk, gently pushed his laptop aside and rested a hand on the arm of his chair before turning it to face me. He looked up, his jaw tight. “I know you’re angry,” I said. “I’m not angry.” His eyes stayed on mine. I sighed. “I know you were trying to protect me from Brown. I know why you came.” His expression didn’t change. “But I couldn’t let you fight him. Especially not inside the company.” He gave a short, humorless laugh. “So that’s all you

~INTENSE~ AMAYA’S POV Before I could move, Brown grabbed my waist and shoved me backward until my back hit the cold glass wall behind me. I pushed against his chest with both hands, but he caught my wrists effortlessly and pinned them above my head again. “Brown, let me go,” I said. He ignored me. His face lowered until I could feel his breath against my skin. His hot breath trailed along my neck, sending unwanted sparks across my skin. I jerked my knee up hard, aiming for his groin, but he caught my leg with one hand, smirking. He chuckled lowly, those wicked dimples flashing. “You keep forgetting I know you better than anyone. Every spot that heats you up… every place that drives you insane.” His eyes searched mine. “I know exactly how you think… every damn thing.” “That was in the fucking past,” I shot back, forcing every ounce of courage into my voice. “Nothing about you has any effect on me anymore.” His jaw flexed. “Are you sure?” His lips brushed my ne

~UNEXPECTED~ AMAYA’S POV By the time Ethan and I returned from lunch, we both got straight back to work. He disappeared into another executive meeting while I settled behind my desk, completely focused on organizing the operational schedule and workflow he’d asked me to prepare. A notification popped up on my computer. From: Office of the Chairman Subject: Immediate Attendance Mr. Brown Hilton requests your presence in the Chairman’s office. I stared at the email before leaning back in my chair. “What the hell does he want now?” I muttered under my breath. Was I even obligated to go? Not anymore. Ethan was my boss now, not Brown. I clicked the email shut and continued typing as if I’d never seen it. Five minutes later, a shadow fell over my desk. I looked up. A man in a black suit stood before me, one of the chairman’s security personnel. “Good afternoon, Mrs. Hilton.” His tone was respectful, but his expression remained unreadable. “The Chairman has

~STRATEGY~ BROWN’S POV She struggled to draw a proper breath. “And if you’re tired of the position you’re in, let me know.” My voice was cold and measured. “There are dozens of women who’d replace you in seconds.” I released her neck with a shove. Susan stumbled backward, coughing violently as she clutched her throat, dragging in shaky breaths. Fear flashed across her face as she looked at me, but she was wise enough not to say another word. “I’m sorry, Brown.” Susan’s voice immediately softened. “I won’t bring it up again.” She took a cautious step toward me, searching my face for any sign that my anger had eased. “I’ll make it up to you.” She rose onto her heels and brushed a light kiss against the side of my neck, her hand smoothing over the lapel of my suit before slowly sliding lower. I caught her wrist before she could go any further. Her movement stopped instantly. “Not now.” My tone was flat, almost emotionless. “I have no appetite for distraction

~KNOW YOUR PLACE~ AMAYA’S POV I lowered my gaze to the untouched glass of water in front of me, absentmindedly tracing the rim with my fingertip. “I don’t know,” I admitted after a long silence. “I haven’t really thought about how to go about it.” Ethan didn’t interrupt. “I know I want out,” I continued quietly. “I’ve wanted out for years. But Brown isn’t the kind of man who signs papers and walks away. He would see it as me challenging him.” “He would,” Ethan agreed. I looked up at him. “And that’s exactly why I should be careful.” I sighed. “I’m not scared of the divorce itself.” My voice softened. “I’m scared of what he’ll do after I ask for one.” Ethan leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. I continued, “I’ve lived with Brown for years, and I can tell you he can be very dangerous when he wants to be. He’s abusive. He treated me like I was nothing, yet he would never let me go.” I intertwined my fingers on the table, staring down at them

~INSANE~ AMAYA’S POV Her signature bold red lipstick was impossible to miss, and as I walked closer, the first few buttons of her blouse were left open, exposing just enough cleavage to catch attention. Right. That was probably how she kept Brown entertained. She crossed one leg over the other, looking me up and down before letting out a mocking laugh. “So, you really had the nerve to show up in this company?” she asked rudely. I stopped beside my desk, meeting her gaze without flinching. Brown had fed her so much confidence that she genuinely believed she could talk down to me. I folded my arms. “Get your ass out of my chair.” She remained seated, clearly trying to provoke me. I wasn’t about to give her the satisfaction. Without saying another word, I walked to the trash can and dropped the cleaning wipe I had used a few minutes earlier. Then I calmly made my way back to my desk. She still hadn’t moved. I sighed inwardly, wanting to avoid drama and de
