[Elena]

"Stay away from my son, you evil woman!"

Vienna’s hand landed hard across my cheek.

My eyes widened. I looked around, expecting someone to react, but everyone only smiled—mocking smiles that made my stomach twist.

And worse, I didn’t recognize a single face.

They all stared at me like I was some filthy thing they couldn’t stand to look at.

"I heard she's trying to steal that beautiful woman's son!" a lady from my right sneered, and laughter broke out again.

My eyes snapped back to Vienna. I could have slapped her back—I should have—but the woman standing before me didn’t look like the Vienna I know.

Her hair was a tangled mess, her clothes rumpled beyond reason, and her eyes… they looked hollow, surrounded by dark circles so deep I could barely see their color. She looked like she hadn’t slept in months.

Instead of walking away, my voice came out tight. "Vienna, what’s wrong with you? You look terrible."

She scoffed, throwing the teddy bear in her hand to the ground.

  • Ex-husband, You Broke The Wrong Woman    Chapter 188 - Mention it.

[Asher]My heart was splitting into two. Every hair on my body stood on end.My hand has been hovering on my screen for what felt like eternity as I stared at Elena's number. My heart clenched and unclenched as I stared down the hallway, but of course, it has been the same since yesterday.I drove back here right after I was sent out of Elena's office. And even when a bigger part of my mind told me that she would never come to save Darian after everything. Another smaller part of me hoped. Painfully wished that Elena would have mercy on Darian.I hurt her so fucking much. I hate Vienna with every blood in me for making me do all of that, but I hate myself more for allowing that disgusting strategic liar to deceive me for years. For allowing her make me do things I shouldn't have fucking done.Elena did absolutely nothing to deserve all the things we made her go through. The only thing she ever said was telling me how she felt for me years back, which I'm sure would be one of her bigg

  • Ex-husband, You Broke The Wrong Woman    Chapter 187 - My condition.

[Elena]My heart skipped as I stared at the mirror right in front of me, my reflection staring back like a stranger I didn’t quite recognize.I took a deeper breath—one I’d taken at least a hundred times this morning—yet it still didn’t feel like enough. My heart skipped again, my lips pressing into a tight line as my eyes took in my outfit. And immediately, without warning, that voice, that time, forced its way back into my mind with relentless force."Twenty-four hours. He has just twenty-four hours to live if you don’t save him."I swallowed hard, my chest tightening as my heart clenched painfully before I could stop it.My eyes drifted on their own to the wall clock.6:20 a.m.I hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep last night.I’d paced back and forth until the early hours of this morning. My thoughts were running wild, until exhaustion finally pushed me into the bathroom to take a shower and get dressed. After I made my decision last night, I couldn’t stop replaying everything in my hea

[Elena]"Did you… Did you believe what Langston said?" Raphael's words were slow, careful. "Is that why you’ve been so quiet?" He asked, his eyes fixed deeply on mine.I swallowed hard.My lips pressed into a tight line.I opened my mouth to say something—anything—but no sound came out. My heartbeat quickened, as his question settled somewhere deep inside my chest and refused to move.Did I believe what Asher said? The honest answer was simple.I had no idea.Deep down, I knew Asher wouldn’t walk into my office and drop to his knees if there wasn’t some truth to it. That wasn’t his style. Pride alone would never allow it.But I also knew there was nothing Asher and Vienna weren’t capable of plotting together.Nothing."Elena." Matteo’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts, and I lifted my head to look at my two brothers. Both of them were watching me closely, their gazes steady and searching. I knew, in that moment, there was no point lying to them. No need to pretend. So I didn’t. "I

[Elena]"Why are you all acting as if something happened?" my mother asked the moment we settled around the dining table. Her voice was calm, almost casual, but it landed like a stone in my chest. My lips pressed together on instinct. I kept my eyes on the table for a second too long before lifting them, forcing myself to look around. Aurora sat beside my mother, posture straight, hands folded neatly in her lap. She hadn’t been in the office, hadn’t heard the words, but she’d seen Asher barge in earlier. She’d seen the way security followed him out. She knew something wasn’t right, even if she didn’t know what.Raphael answered before any of us could say a word. "You’re just assuming," he said, dismissive, smooth. "Nothing is wrong."But my mother wasn’t fooled. Her gaze slid from Raphael to Matteo, then finally settled on me. I felt it there, heavy and knowing, like she was peeling layers off my skin without touching me. My stomach immediately tightened.Instead of pressing me, she

  • Ex-husband, You Broke The Wrong Woman    Chapter 184 - He's lying

[Elena]It felt like I was drowning. Not the dramatic kind where you flail and scream for help—but the quiet kind. The kind where water fills your lungs slowly, where your chest tightens inch by inch until breathing itself becomes painful. Like an invisible hand had wrapped itself around my throat and decided it wasn’t letting go anytime soon.I took a slow breath, then another, but it didn't help.My heart skipped a beat, beating erratically, as if it had lost its rhythm.Four hours. It had been four hours since Asher Langston had walked into my office, shattered my peace, and dropped words so heavy they were still crushing me beneath their weight.Four hours since he’d looked me in the eyes and said. "Darian is your son. Not Vienna’s. She used your eggs."The words replayed in my head like gunshots.Sharp. Loud. Impossible to ignore. My chest ached. No—ached wasn’t strong enough. It burned. It felt like something had been ripped open inside me and left exposed to the air. Every brea

  • Ex-husband, You Broke The Wrong Woman    Chapter 183 - Shameless

[Asher]There was nothing left of my pride to protect.Nothing.If throwing every ounce of shame I had left onto the ground would save my son, then so be it. Pride could burn. Reputation could rot. I didn’t care anymore. Not when Darian was lying somewhere between life and death, gasping for breath he didn’t have the strength to take.I had already lost too much.I had practically sneaked into this office like a criminal—like a man with something to hide—just to avoid the security guards stationed outside. Men who would have dragged me out without blinking if they knew why I was here.I stood outside for close to an hour, my back pressed against the wall, heart hammering so loud I was sure someone would hear it. I waited. Watched. Calculated. Every second felt like another nail in my son’s coffin. The moment they were distracted—even for a split second—I moved. That was the only chance I had.Yes, I saw Raphael and Matteo when they walked in. I saw them clearly. Felt the warning slam
