My brow creased as I fixed my gaze on Vienna who was now clutching Darian like he would disappear if she let go.

"Mommy, you're squeezing me so tight." Darian's voice rang out and that seemed to snap Vienna out of it.

She immediately loosened her grip on Darian. "Sorry baby, are you okay now?"

"No," Darian shook his head, pointing at the seat he had occupied earlier. "I want to go back to my seat."

Vienna blinked, then turned around and that was when she noticed that everyone was still staring at her.

What is wrong with her?

"Vienna, is there something going on?" My mom asked.

"Of course not!" Her voice pitched up again before she turned toward me. "You know the thought of him being sick freaks me out. I just got scared," she mumbled.

And then it clicked—of course. Vienna hated it whenever Darian even caught the slightest fever. She always ended up getting sick herself.

Tristan cleared his throat and that dragged my attention back to the table.
