Jayson’s POV

My fingers would not stop trembling after rushing Betty to the hospital.

I stood outside the operating theatre with my heart slamming against my ribs so hard, that I thought it might crack them open.

The fluorescent lights of the private Paris clinic felt too bright, too clinical, too indifferent to the chaos inside me.

There was so much blood on the floor of the resort lounge, on Betty’s dress, on my hands when I lifted her.

The image would not leave me. Her face was pale, her eyes unfocused, her hand still pressed protectively over her stomach even as consciousness slipped away.

What if she loses the baby?

I shook my head, no, I shouldn't even think about that.

She can't, I've already filled every quiet moment of the last weeks with the imagined future of becoming a father, holding my baby's tiny hands. Soft cries in the middle of the night. The weight of a child against my chest

I never allowed myself to want anything that much before, the way i wanted to hold my child. Now the possibility of losing it felt like my world is about to shatter.

“Jayson, she will be fine.” Jewel’s voice reached my side, we left the resort together, I don't even want to think about what caused the scene.

She stood close to me, her fingers wrapping around mine. I met her gaze for only a second before I pulled my hand free, her soft suddenly unbearable.

“I hope you’re happy now,” I said, the words coming out low and raw. “Are you finally happy? Right?”

Her eyes widened. “How is it my fault that she came to the resort and found me? She said a whole lot of things, you don't expect to keep quiet because she's your wife.”

“You could have ignored her!” I raised my voice before I could stop it. “Look away, or walk out of there. Why didn’t you do any of that?”

“Jayson, please do not yell at me.” Tears gathered in her eyes, shining under the harsh lights. “I was never at fault. She suddenly fell and that was when you saw her…”

“Betty is carrying my child.” I stepped closer, the words tearing out of me. “I brought this up a few days ago. I told you to ignore her if you ever meet her. I told you she might act childish, that the pregnancy made her emotional. I begged you.”

“Jayson, you’re hurting my feelings!” Jewel’s voice cracked. “Saying all this when you don't even.know what happened is cruel.”

I scoffed.

Her tears only fed the anger burning through my chest. Every soft word she ever said to me, every shared memory, felt suddenly hollow in the face of the blood I had seen on Betty’s clothes.

The door of the operating theatre opened.

The doctor stepped out, mask pulled down, expression carefully neutral.

I turned so fast my vision blurred for a second.

“Doctor…how is my wife?”

He hesitated only for a second. “She’s fine, but Mr Blackwood I’m sorry to inform you that she lost the baby.”

I grabbed the front of his coat before I even realised I moved. “Why didn’t you save my child? Why?!”

“I’m sorry, we tried our best but the trauma was too severe and there was nothing more we could do.”

I let go of him and staggered backward.

“No…no…”

Jewel’s arms came around me and I wrapped my arms around her body, the first sob escape from my chest. Tears rolled down my face.

She patted my back the way she used to when we were younger, when the only thing that could break me was the thought of losing her.

“Do not worry,” she whispered against my hair. “I’ll give you another baby.”

I froze with disbelief, the words landed like a second blow.

Did she just say that?

I broke the hug so abruptly that she stumbled.

“I lost my first child…”

“It’s not a big deal.” Her voice was soft, as if she were soothing a child. “We can make another one. Stop acting like you’re in love with Betty. You love me, not her.”

“I’m so disappointed,” I said quietly. I wiped my face with the back of my hand, the tears still falling despite my effort of controlling it.

Footsteps echoed down the corridor and I turned to leave only to see Betty’s parent.

Betty’s parents stood there, looking at me with so much hatred.

“You really are a monster.” Marcus said.

“What did I do again? Huh? Marrying your daughter was the biggest mistake of my life! My life hasn't been normal since then.” I said.

I don't know what they expect me to do, kill myself for her or what?

I just walked away, the pain of losing my baby hurts more and I don’t care about their opinions.

I just want to punch my bag and scream out the pain.

Betty’s POVI opened my eyes slowly, feeling hurt not physically, but the kind of pain that just ache. The ceiling above me was familiar in a way that made my heart ache before my mind fully caught up. Soft cream paint. The same crack near the corner that has always looked like a thin river. The faint scent of lavender from the sachets my stepmother kept in the drawers. Memories arrived in jagged pieces. Asking Jayson for a divorce after discovering he celebrated his birthday with Jewel Smith—his first love, the woman whose name lived in the spaces between us since the day I signed the contract. The way his face had lit up with relief when I said I was leaving. The drive away from his mansion in the rain. The sudden screech of tyres. The hospital. Waking up to the quiet miracle of a positive pregnancy test and the strange, careful way Jayson had begun to treat me afterward. The roses. The apology that had almost felt real. The argument at the resort. Jewel’s hands shoving my s

(Betty’s POV) The footage was clear enough that there was no mistaking either of them. For a moment everything around me became strangely quiet. I stared at the screen, and did not know where they were going. I did not know why they were there. I did not know what had happened before the video was recorded. But none of that mattered to Thalia. She wanted me to be hurt, it's obvious she wanted me to see it. I slowly lifted my gaze. “Is that all?” She looked surprised. “What?” I handed the phone back. “Is that all you wanted to show me?” Her expression hardened. “You aren’t even going to cry?” “No.” I forced a smile. “Why would I cry in front of you?” She stared at me for a moment before saying, “Because you’re pathetic enough to keep hoping he will eventually love you.” The words hit me harder than I wanted to admit. But I refused to give her the satisfaction. I turned around. “I have nothing else to say to you.” I walked out of the kitchen. My hands were

(Betty’s POV)Haven’t I already spent years trying not to interfere? Haven’t I accepted every cold look, every distant response, every reminder that his heart belonged somewhere else? Nobody knew that. Nobody knew that sometimes I had cried myself to sleep because I felt like a stranger in my own marriage. Nobody knew how humiliating it was to stand beside a man who looked at everyone except his own wife with genuine affection. Nobody knew how many times I had told myself that perhaps things would eventually change. And now, because strangers had seen a few pictures and heard one side of a story, I was suddenly the woman who had stolen someone else’s love.I opened TikTok again. I should not have. But I did. A new comment caught my attention.“She probably got pregnant on purpose to trap him.”My heart stopped. My hand instinctively moved to my stomach. The words hurt more than I expected.“How did you even know that?” I whispered to the empty room.Another person replied beneath it.

(Betty’s POV)I stared at the name. For several seconds I could not believe what I was seeing. Jewel, Jayson’s first love. The woman he has just admitted he still loved only minutes ago. The woman whose name had haunted the beginning of my marriage. She sent me a friend request.A slow, almost disbelieving smile spread across my lips even as my stomach twisted. I stared at her profile picture—elegant, polished, the same woman I had seen in the old photographs Jayson used to keep. My thumb hovered over the screen. I did not know why she had sent it. I did not know what she wanted. But one thing was certain: Jewel Smith has walked into my life and this time, she has come looking for me.I stared at the friend request for several more seconds, a strange mixture of curiosity and apprehension settling heavily in my chest. Even seeing her name there felt surreal. For months she existed in my marriage as a ghost I could never escape—a woman I never properly met but somehow knew f

(BETTY’S POV)I swallowed. “Jay, it’s okay.”“No, it isn’t.” He looked directly into my eyes. “You didn’t deserve it.”I forced a small smile, though my chest felt tight. “I understood why you acted that way.”“That doesn’t make it right.”“You were in love with someone else.” The words came out more quietly than I intended. “Anyone in my position would have been hurt. But even though you didn’t love me, you still treated me well in front of everyone. You took care of me when I was sick. You never deliberately humiliated me.”His expression softened. “You were there for me too.”I looked down at the roses in my arms. “I was your wife.”“You were more than that.”My eyes immediately returned to meet his own. For a moment neither of us said a word. There was something in the silence—something charged and unspoken. The way he was looking at me made my heart race. Suddenly all the little things he had done over the past few days came rushing back: the way he would not let me cook, the

My gaze landed on the pink bracelet wrapped around her wrist. The same one from the picture. And just like that, everything made sense to me. Jewel is the one woman Jayson has always loved. The one I could never replace. The one who existed in his life long before I ever did. I thought he ha

Betty: One day, I found out my husband, Jayson Blackwood, was having an affair. It wasn’t shocking in the way betrayal is supposed to be. He could’ve just pretended as if he wasn't happy. That was the part that hurt the most. Not the affair—not even the fact that it was her. Not the humiliation, not the quiet nights spent alone in a marriage that felt emptier with each passing day. He could’ve at least pretended not to be happy.
