FOUR YEARS LATER
“We are having some scenes shot in America”. Her manager says.
She abruptly stands up in shock at his statement.
“America why? I didn’t see that in the script you gave me”. She rushes to him with the script in her hands.
Ava starts flipping crazily trying to prove to him that there is no mention of any scenes being shot in America.
Her manager, on the other hand, looks her at weirdly. He collects the script from her.
She looks at him, shocked, as he waves the script high above her head. Defeatedly, she sighs.
“Take a deep breath sista! What’s all the fuss for? The director changed the location at the last minute, claiming that it would give the scene more depth, whatever that means.” Ava stalks to a chair and sits down in a plop with an upset look on her face.
“It’s not that.” She releases a breath. Chris comes to stand in front of her, resting his behind on the edge of the table with his hands crossed in front of him.
“Then what is it?”. He asks her worried.
“I don’t want to run into him”. She finally admits.
“Who? Oh, your ex-husband. I forgot he lives there”.
Ava gives him the side eye.
“What? It’s not my fault I don’t keep useless men in my mind “. He says with a pout which makes a chuckle escape from Ava.
“But seriously, I don’t want to run into him, and you know I can’t leave my daughter behind in Canada, so that is another risk.” Her laughter dies down.
“Well, on the good side, the shoot for that scene will take a month at most. You can keep away from his area until then”.
“You, that will almost be impossible. The shoot will draw attention, and it is only a matter of time before he knows I’m in the city”. She puts her hand under her chin.
“Girl, what are so afraid of? He was the one who treated you badly. You have left him for three years now. It’s about time to use this shoot to get closure from that chapter”. He puts a hand on her shoulder.
She nods and pats his hand gratefully. She can remember how he got her to where she is today.
When she relocated to Canada four years ago, she went to live with one of her friends, Marianna, who is based in Canada till she gave birth to her daughter, Aurora.
Although she had more than enough money to take care of them comfortably for more than three years, she knew she had to do something profitable with the money or she would lose all of it.
So, with the help of her friend, Marianna, she opened a boutique where she sold stylish clothing when Aurora was 6 months old. When she noticed that she wasn’t getting many customers, she was advised to start using social media to advertise her goods.
After getting the hang of the gram, she started posting her clothing. She started enjoying the thrill and trends and decided to try one of the acting challenges.
With the universe’s sense of humor, she tried acting a scene from a famous trend, and the next morning, her video had blown up.
Ava had woken up the next morning to Marianna’s excited squeals. Groggily, she asked her what happened. Instead of an actual answer, Marianna shoved the phone in her face.
Ava’s business account which had a measly 100 followers, was now spotting 10k followers. Her acting video was now at 1 million views.
Her eyes widened as she saw the various comments. With a huge smile on her face, she prepared for the day with her daughter and headed to her boutique.
She had barely opened her boutique that morning when ten women entered. They started complimenting her and her dresses. That was how her business started booming. She took it as sheer luck and decided to make the best of it by continuing to put out acting videos with the different dresses she was selling.
Barely a month later, she was seriously contemplating an expansion. She had even employed ten sales representatives and was now shipping to other countries.
Her boutique, Aurora’s, which she named after her daughter, was fast becoming very popular in Canada.
It was on one of the days she was in the store looking at the new inventory that Chris Stone walked in, in all his handsome glory.
He walked up to her directly and told her that he wanted to manage her. Initially, she had turned him down, but after his fifth attempt and showing her that she had real talent for acting, she accepted.
She started it off as a side gig because she didn’t need any more money than her boutique was already bringing for her.
After two months of being managed by Chris, her fame had grown twofold from what it was before.
After her first supporting role in a Hollywood series, she bagged an award at the end of her first year as an actress. Two years in, she finally got her first lead role, which skyrocketed her fame.
Her daughter even had to grow up on set because most times, when Marianna was not available, she had to take her along. Thankfully, Aurora was already attached to Chris by the time she turned two.
She had even picked up his bossy attitude. Chris never let her out of his sight and Aurora barely ever wanted to come down from his arms. They have a bond that even Ava envies.
Aurora is not in the office today because she wanted to go and play at the amusement park with Marianna’s cousins who are in town.
“I don’t know what to do. I will have to take Aurora along for the shoot and I don’t want him to find out about her. I have to protect my kid from both of them”. She puts her face into her hands.
Ava became scared, she was not comfortable with the way Chris had asked them to leave the place. " Is something wrong? You do not look okay, you look scared" she said. " Yeah, I do not look okay, I think someone is after us" he said She became confused, she thought about the reason anyone would follow her around the place and found none. She has not done anything to anyone to make anyone come after her that way. There was something about her environment as well that forced her to accept that something was wrong and she was being followed. She held her daughter very tight as they drove to her apartment. They got in and she got inside the place. " I'll let the security know about what is happening so that they can alert us and tell us what is going on," he said. Ava nodded her head. She was too scared to say anything. " Is something wrong?" Aurora asked her. " No, honey, everything is perfect," she said. She never wanted her child to sense her worries so she put a big smile
She was not comfortable with the way he had spoken to her over the phone. It seemed like something was wrong with him. She was standing in front of the building where she was about to drop Aurora. She had wanted Chris to go in with her but since he was big there with her, she had to go in by herself. She hated the feeling that she was having as she went there alone. She was attended to and they are so happy to have her daughter there. It was a smooth registration and she succeeded in keeping Aurora there. After making sure her daughter was fine, she headed to her shoot venue. She thought about Chris and how he did not sound okay over the phone. She wanted to go to his hotel room to find out what was wrong, but she had a shoot to be present on. " Ava, can we have you here?" One of the directors called her; she was torn between going after Chris, who did not sound okay, and going for her shoot. " I am not going to be here for a long time; something just came up, and I will have
She held her phone in her hands as she looked at the number, staring her back in the face. She wondered if it was necessary or if she could just go ask Ava if Caleb had been after her lately. " She is not going to answer me or tell me what I want to know," she sighed. She went ahead and dialed the number. She held the phone, waiting for him to pick it up. " Hey, how is it going with you?" She asked as soon as he picked up. " I'm good; it's been a while. Do you have a job for me?" his husked voice was heard from the other end of the phone. " Yes, can we meet up? I will send you the address" she said as she ended the call. She did not want the maid to know what she was talking about as she was still in Caleb's house. She turned her head and saw a maid standing close to her, she flew back in fear. Then she went closer to the maid. " Tell me, did you hear anything at all?" " I heard nothing, ma'am," she said fearfully. She did not want to believe the maid but she had to. She g
Ava Martin was on the screen as one of the top Actresses in the city. The shoot for that day was over and she was back home. She was in front of the television, watching the news, it was about her being so good at what she does. There was a bowl of popcorn in front of her and a cup of juice as well. She would dip her hands into the bowl and take some popcorn from it. She would also stretch herself to take the drink as well. Chris walked into the room. He had not gone yet, and that was because Aurora would not let him go; he had to follow them to the hotel room so he could please Aurora. " You are so good. Look who is on the screen again," he said. " They can not do without me, I happen to make the news, I'm the one always talked about" " I guess I manage you so well. Look who is being recognized again and again." he raised his shoulders up at how good he was at managing Ava. " I should get your pay increased," Ava burst out laughing. " That should not be a joke," he said. H
One would think that he was going to back down from going after her but no, it was not someone like Caleb Reed. He followed behind her like someone who was chasing after those who took something from him. His driver would look at him, expecting him to say something about them stopping and turning back but he kept a straight face. When he saw that his driver was stealing glances at him. He dropped his phone and looked at him. " Is anything the problem?" He asked him. " You will be late for work, should we not turn back and head to the office instead?" " The last time I checked, I was the one paying for your services, isn't that so?" " My apologies sir," he said as he slightly bowed his head. Caleb was a bit pissed with his driver, but his mood changed when he could see Ava clearly. A smile appeared on his face as his lips curved into a happy grin. His face turned into a frown almost immediately as he wondered why he was overly happy to see her. He thought to himself that he sho
Chapter 8When Caleb showed no intention of reciprocating the kiss, she tried to deepen it, but he pulled away. She attempted to lean in again, only to have him place a hand on her shoulder, keeping her at arm's length."Not tonight, Sophia," he said, causing her face to fall as he picked up her robe from the bed.Caleb walked back to Sophia and handed her the robe. "Put it on," he commanded, his voice firm yet calm."But—" Sophia began, but Caleb cut her off. "Just put it on, Sophia," he repeated, his tone more forceful this time, causing her to flinch.Reluctantly, Sophia took the robe from him and put it on, her forehead creased with frustration."I'm really tired. You should use the other room tonight," He stated, his words sounding like an order rather than a suggestion."But we always sleep together," Sophia protested, her fists clenched tightly. However, the seriousness in Caleb's expression made her think twice about arguing further."Okay," she conceded, forcing a smile. "Go
