Jasmine was cutting the veggies while the butter melted in the pan. Well, it had been melting for quite a while now on a hot flame. Black smoke was rising from the pan and the butter had almost evaporated, leaving a black charred circular lining in the center of the pan.

That's not all. A cake had been baking in the oven behind her. It had also become black from over baking. There was a cloud of gray smoke inside the oven. The timer needed to be stopped.
