Anna's pov

As I sat on the sofa, anxiously waiting for my husband to come home, I couldn't help but worry.

It was already past midnight, and he still hadn't returned from work.

I tried to call him, but he didn't answer. I felt my stomach tighten with each passing moment.

Being heavily pregnant, I was worried that something might have happened to him.

I petted my bulging stomach and whispered, "Baby, don't worry, Daddy will be here soon."

But deep down, I wasn't so sure.

My husband had been working long hours lately But I never complained.

I understand he has a company to run so I have no choice but to support his every decision as a food wife.

He is always away sometimes on a business trip and even sometimes he spends weeks and months in his penthouse

Just as I was about to call him again, I heard a noise coming from the entrance of the house.

I got up from the sofa slowly but I fell back, my back hurt so much that I lost my balance when standing up.

I managed to get up from the sofa but nearly hurt my ankle because I stood too fast,I walked slowly towards the door watching my steps.

And there he was, my husband, standing in front of me with a look of disgust on his face.

I tried to take his bag from him, but he pulled back. "What are you doing?!" he said with irritation.

"I asked you to stay away from my stuff, what were you trying to do?"

He faced me and looked deep into my eyes before asking me.

"I was just trying to help you with the bag," I said to him meekly.

"I don't need your help," he said firmly. His words broke my heart, but I kept my cool.

I knew he was under a lot of stress, and I didn't want to add to it.

I tried to walk away after he said those hush words to me, I was heading towards the bedroom when I heard him call,

"Hey come back here, where do you think you are going."

I turned around to face him and saw the anger in his eyes.

"Get me something to eat," he commanded as if talking to his house help instead of his wife.

I was taken aback by his sudden outburst and didn't know how to react.

“Did he just command me in that manner?”

"I've ordered pizza for us. I haven't been feeling well since morning, so I haven't prepared any food," I replied.

He walked closer to me, his face contorted with anger, and said, "I said I want freshly made food, not pizza. Go in there and prepare food for me to eat."

What did this moron just say?He didn't care about how I was doing, even though I was pregnant.

What does this man take me for,his maid?

Why did he even come back home today to torment my life? It's been almost a month since I set my eyes on him.

He suddenly called me earlier today saying that he was coming home today,did he return home to see me cry as always?

All he cared about was his own needs. I felt hurt and used as if my feelings didn't matter to him. he never cared anyway.

This wasn't the first time he had treated me this way. He had always been selfish and demanding, never taking my feelings or needs into consideration.

As a pregnant woman, I needed rest and care, but he seemed oblivious to that fact.

I am getting tired trying to please him, for years,his behavior keeps getting worse

So, I took a deep breath and said, "No, I won't do it. I need rest, and I'm not going to prepare fresh food for you at this time of the night. If you're hungry, you can make something yourself."

He looked at me with surprise and anger, but I stood my ground.

I tried my best to explain my situation to him. "Baby, I've not been feeling well the whole day, so please reason with me," I said.

As I was mid-sentence, I felt an intense and sudden pain on my cheek.

A forceful slap had landed on my face, causing my head to spin for a few moments.

I was stunned and in disbelief that he would hit a pregnant woman. Even if he didn't care about me, he should have at least considered the baby growing inside me.

The pain was excruciating, but the emotional shock was even worse. I couldn't believe that the person I loved and trusted would do something like this to me.

I was at a loss for words, as my mind tried to process the gravity of the situation. I was pregnant, vulnerable, and now scared for my safety.

Despite the pain and shock, I held back my tears and tried my best to remain composed in his presence.

I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of seeing me break down.

But my mind was racing with thoughts. How could he do this to me? What if he does it again? I couldn't risk putting my baby in danger.

As I tried to calm myself down and think of a way out of the situation, I couldn't help but wonder what I had done to deserve this.

Where did I go wrong?

Did I make a mistake by loving him?
