Chapter 4

Autor: Zhaoyao
The second I heard that, I knew Ron was up to no good.

I pretended to be absolutely thrilled and nodded eagerly. "Thank you, baby!"

The next morning, sure enough, Ron was waiting outside my door in a luxury car.

I climbed into the car in my heels. Ron drove me to the biggest luxury boutique in town.

"Babe, it's your birthday today. Pick whatever you want!"

I didn't hold back.

Once inside, I grabbed a limited-edition handbag worth fifteen thousand dollars.

A calculating gleam flashed through Ron's eyes, and then he looked at the bag in my hand with exaggerated disdain.

"Baby, don't worry about going easy on me. That's way too cheap. You can't carry something like this on your birthday!"

"Listen to me, pick something pricier. That's what you deserve!"

The saleswoman helping me looked positively envious.

"You and your husband are such a lovely couple!"

"Generous men like him are so rare these days! We're all jealous!"

My lips curved in a faint smile. I put on a bashful act, but inside I could practically taste the irony.

When I'd picked out enough, I excused myself to touch up my makeup in the restroom and quietly texted Mary that we were in position.

In less than two minutes, Mary walked through the door in a stunning evening dress.

She went straight for the high-end jewelry section with the ease of a regular, trying on the priciest pieces one after another.

Ron had been chatting with a staff member nearby, but the instant he caught sight of Mary out of the corner of his eye, his face went rigid and every trace of color drained from it.

What was Mary doing here!

Mary didn't care about the look on his face. She made a beeline straight for him.

"Honey! What are you doing here!"

Ron's expression went rigid and he scrambled for an excuse.

"Just showing a client around."

Mary pretended not to notice the staff's reaction and nodded.

"Oh, you work so hard, sweetie. Well, I'll head up to the second floor to check out the new couture collection."

The moment she turned away, Mary sent Jennifer a message.

Three minutes later, Jennifer strode in on her heels, commanding the room.

The instant Ron saw Jennifer, his knees went weak. He looked ready to piss himself.

He rushed over to her immediately.

"Hey, babe, what a coincidence! What are you doing here?"

Jennifer gave him a half-smile, her eyes cool.

"A friend told me they just got a shipment of exclusive pieces you can't find anywhere else. I came to take a look."

Ron swallowed hard and took Jennifer's hand, leading her toward the third floor.

"Oh, that collection, yeah, I know the one. It's up on the third floor."

"Let me take you. Browse around first, and once I'm done with work, I'll come pay for everything!"

After getting her situated, Ron took a deep breath, pulled himself together, and headed back down to the first floor.

The very next second, Jessica pushed through the door, bold and stunning.

Thick as Ron was, even he could tell something was off by now.

Jessica didn't give him a moment to think. She marched straight to the top-tier luxury section, picked up a bag worth a hundred and twenty thousand dollars, and walked right up to Ron.

"Honey, didn't you say you had a surprise for me?"

"This bag. I love it."

The moment was right. I walked out of the restroom, straight up to Ron, and stared him down.

"Sweetie, who is this woman!"

"What surprise! You told me today was supposed to be my birthday surprise!"

Right on cue, Mary came back from the jewelry counter and Jennifer from the fitting rooms, and all of them closed in.

Four girlfriends he'd been stringing along in different cities, standing right in front of him at the same time.

Each of us held armfuls of expensive luxury goods, lined up in a row.

Ron went white as a sheet. He couldn't get a single word out.

The entire store fell dead silent. Every employee and customer stood frozen, staring.

I let out a cold laugh, lunged forward, and grabbed the cameraman who'd been hiding in a corner filming the whole thing. Then I turned back to Ron.

"Sweetie, how do you like the surprise the four of us put together for you?"

The trial had been delayed for six months because the scope of Ethan's crimes was staggering.Following the leads Lucas had provided, police uncovered over a hundred victims across the country.Ethan's illegal profits from privacy violations and fraud ran into the millions of dollars. The evidence was so complex and far-reaching that it took a full six months to compile every last piece. On the day of the trial, Jessica, Mary, and Jennifer were all there. The moment Jessica spotted me, she rushed over and looped her arm through mine."Mia! I missed you so much!"I laughed and ruffled her hair."Six months of studying. Did you pass the bar?"Jessica's face fell, and her head drooped dejectedly. That got a laugh out of me, and I reassured her."It's okay. If you didn't pass the first time, just try again. No rush."The next second, Jessica snapped her head up and broke into a huge grin."Gotcha! I passed!"I flicked her forehead gently and shook my head."You're getting worse. Mary's bee

Ethan scrambled off the floor and snatched the thick stack of invoices from my hand. His hands shook as he flipped through page after page, muttering under his breath."Impossible... there's no way... how can it be over a million..."When he saw the authentic purchase records, the boutique receipts, the luxury brand orders, one after another, he completely lost it.He crumpled the entire stack into a ball and shoved it into his mouth, chewing and swallowing like a madman. The dry paper was hard to swallow. His face turned beet red from choking, but he didn't stop. He forced down every last invoice until there was nothing left in his hands.I watched the entire spectacle without batting an eye. When he finally finished his pathetic meal, I spoke, my tone casual."If you love eating receipts that much, you should have said something sooner.""Sophie has high-resolution copies, electronic backups, and cloud archives. More than you could ever eat."Sophie stepped forward immediately, pulle

Done with Ethan, I walked over to Lucas, still pinned flat by the bodyguards.I pulled out my phone, opened their group chat, and held it in front of his face."Do you have any idea that your so-called pranks are actual crimes?"Lucas went pale but tried to tough it out."No way! It's just harmless pranks. At most it's a bad joke. How is that illegal!"I pointed at his camera, my voice level."Everyone has privacy rights and the right to control the commercial use of their likeness.""You secretly recorded private footage, sold it for profit, and published it without consent. That can mean invasion of privacy, unlawful recording, and distribution of intimate images.""That alone is enough to put you behind bars."That last line broke him completely. His legs gave out and he crumpled to his knees, begging me over and over, his voice breaking."Miss, please, I was blind! It was all Ethan! He talked me into it!""I didn't know. I swear I didn't know it was illegal! Please let me go!"I cr

The instant those words landed, Ethan froze solid, his pupils shrinking to pinpoints.Behind him, Lucas panicked, his voice trembling."Ethan, how does she know your real name?""You... you don't think this mall is actually hers, do you?""No way! Absolutely not!"Ethan cut Lucas off, forcing himself to sound calm."Some clueless girl who can't tell real from fake, who I fooled with a couple of knockoffs, is supposed to be a real heiress?""And she owns this whole mall? She's out of her mind! Completely delusional!"I just smiled, not bothering to waste another word on him. I turned to the staff nearby."Get me your store manager."The staff didn't dare hesitate and ran to find her immediately. In less than thirty seconds, the store manager hurried over. The instant she saw me, her posture snapped straight and her expression turned deeply respectful."Ms. Bennett! We had no idea you were coming in today. You should have let us know.""Did one of our employees do something to upset you?

I pointed at the line of luxury goods in front of Ron, all smiles."Honey, we all received the surprise you so generously prepared for us today.""Since you told us to pick whatever we wanted, go ahead and pay the bill.""And just so we're clear, you're not walking out of this store until you do."The moment the words left my mouth, several bodyguards in black posted near the entrance stepped forward. They blocked every exit without a word, cutting off Ron's escape completely.Ron stared at the wall of muscle in front of him. His face went chalk white, cold sweat streaming down his forehead. He turned around, his gaze flicking between the four of us.At this point, what was there left to figure out!Coincidence?
