Chapter 7

Damon’s POV

At the hospital there was chaos followed by multiple doctors rushing to her side. When the head of the ER Trauma team joined the other doctors I knew it was bad.

“Sorry sir but this is as far as we can allow you at this time. Please take a seat and await news” the doctor said as I stood staring and her while they rushed her through some double doors and out of sight.

It felt like hours I was there, mum and dad joined me but surprisingly stayed quiet and just reassured me.

“How could this happen, why now, why her?” I said to myself more than anyone

Mum gently hugged me and told me,”fate can have a twisted sense of humour sometimes son, but don’t worry we will make sure your mate gets the best care!”

I stopped in my tracks and looked at her, wondering how on earth she knew when I hadn’t said anything to anyone.

“Your worry, your panic, your anger and your instinct to be by her side told me”, she replied without me having to voice my query out loud.

Mum nodded at dad who went and had a word with the team. He had demanded the best treatment for her. Her, we had no idea of her name or anything yet.

A few more hours passed and I was loosing hope, then the Trauma doctor appeared and told us they had operated, she was in critical condition but stable for now. It would be in Angels best interest to get her next of kin they suggested.

“Angel? Is that her name?” I replied

Such a beautiful name for my mate, it’s truly matches her features.

“Yes, I recognise her from here, she’s studying to be a Trauma doctor and I have had my eyes on her for a while, very talented. If she pulls through and makes a full recovery she has a very bright future ahead of her”, he replied

With that I questioned about her next of kin and any family she has. Due to legal reasons he couldn’t share information, not even with his Alpha although that didn’t stop my dad from trying. I stayed at the hospital adamant I needed to see her next of kin while mum and dad went home for rest.

As I sat waiting and wondering I started to imagine a life with this beautiful girl. My Angel, stunning and from what I can gather she’s smart too. Brains and beauty I smile at myself. Suddenly I was taken out of my day dream when I heard a voice asking after Angel, I looked over to see Rider the betas son and next in line for the beta position tell them how he was her next of kin.

This left me angry but also with a lot of questions. I decided not to approach him as he was taken into the intensive care unit but I would be sure to find out more once I knew she was out of danger.

The next few days I spent most of my time on the ward, keeping out of sight of Rider but observing him around her. Although he looked worried he didn’t have the hopeless love look in his eye which I would expect if he was her boyfriend (the idea of her and him made me sick) but I tell myself maybe he’s her friend and right now she will need her friends.

After a few days the Nurse advised me they would be waking Angel up. She had undergone 3 separate surgeries, finally she was out of danger physically but it would take a lot of recovering and now they needed to check on her brain function.

Although her brain scans were clear, they couldn’t be certain as to any impact until she was awake and hopefully able to communicate.
