Chapter 75

The applause, the laughter, the flash of wine glasses clinking, it all blurred into the background as Tania stepped back into the party with Brian tugging at her hand. The boy was practically glowing, bubbling with excitement over his new toys, his voice chirping with joy beside her. But Tania’s smile was a mechanical one, a rehearsed expression that barely touched her eyes.

Her mind was elsewhere. On Andreas. Wondering what he was up to.

She called over one of the house staff, leaning closer as he passed by with a tray of petit fours. “Where’s Andreas?” she asked in a hushed, practiced tone that made it seem like idle curiosity.

The staff member didn’t hesitate. “He’s in his study, ma’am. Alone.”

Tania nodded with a tight smile, her stomach twisting into a knot. The study. That was his sanctuary. A locked world only he had access to. She’d tried to enter before and been politely, but firmly, reminded that it was his private space. Not even she, the mother of his child, wa

Chapter 81Andreas had never been a fan of chaos, but that day, in the middle of confetti, plastic cups, and Brian's football-themed birthday cake smeared across half the kitchen counter, he found the quietest storm of all hidden in the smallest gesture, Sofia’s birthday card to Brian. It was almost too easy to miss. Amid the bright scribbles and glitter glue, tucked into the crease of the folded paper, was a faint line of ink. At first glance, it seemed like just another smudge from a teenager's overenthusiastic coloring. But something told Andreas to look closer. His heart stuttered when he realized what it was: a phone number. Lightly scribbled, nearly invisible, like a secret waiting to be found by the right eyes. He glanced up immediately, scanning the compound. Tania was distracted, laughing too loudly at some joke someone told. Brian was running around with his friends, showing off his gifts to everyone with the charm of a future team captain.Andreas slipped the card under his

  • FALLING FOR THE FORBIDDEN STAR    80: Arms That Know me

Chapter 80Mia stood frozen in the doorway, Sofia’s arms still wrapped tightly around her. The warm embrace felt like a balm to the aching hole in her chest that she hadn’t even realized was there, until now. Her daughter, her smart, beautiful daughter, was her anchor in a storm of chaos. The tears that had been threatening to fall all night now slipped down her cheek in silent surrender. She quickly wiped them away, but Sofia noticed. Of course, Sofia noticed. She always did. The teen's soft eyes searched Mia’s face, concern etched across her features."Mom, are you okay?" Sofia asked, her voice a quiet whisper, yet so full of care that it pierced Mia’s heart."I'm fine, baby," Mia replied quickly, brushing it off with a strained smile, though her chest felt like it might crack from the weight of everything she'd been holding in. "I’m just glad you're here."Sofia nodded, but Mia could see the doubt flicker behind her eyes. She didn’t push further, though. Instead, she stepped inside

Chapter 79Are you kidding me, Susan? You knew he was here the whole time?" Mia’s voice cut through the tension in the dressing room like glass shattering in the quiet.Susan blinked as if slapped, frozen halfway through crossing the plush carpet. "What are you talking about, Mia?" Her brow furrowed in genuine confusion, but Mia wasn’t looking for answers, she was already unraveling.Mia stood, shoulders tense, lips trembling with the sting of Lucas’s whispered words still ringing in her ears. "Don’t play dumb, Susan. You knew. You knew Lucas snuck backstage while you conveniently put everyone outside! You were acting strange the entire time! Before I got on stage, you had this nervous look. Was it because of him?"Susan took a hesitant step forward, eyes widening. "Wait, wait, what are you saying? That I... let Lucas in here? On purpose?""Don't deny it!" Mia snapped, her voice rising with every breath. "Your face said everything. I saw it. That nervous look before I stepped on stage

  • FALLING FOR THE FORBIDDEN STAR    78: Quiet Threats

Chapter 78The dressing room smelled faintly of rose water and backstage dust, a heady perfume of nostalgia and nerves. The applause from the audience had long faded into a memory, and now, Mia sat before the vanity mirror with only her reflection for company. Her chest rose and fell with the kind of tension she hadn’t felt in years. And then she heard it.A voice, soft and low. Too familiar."Hello, baby girl."Her spine stiffened. Her heart skipped, then thundered in her chest. She turned her head slowly, her eyes wide.No. It couldn't be.But it was. There he was. Lucas. Emerging from the shadows like a ghost in designer leather and faded jeans. He looked the same since he left rehab. Leaner. His eyes were clearer, but the weight of old demons still clung to him like stale cologne. The smile on his face was too thin, stretched taut over something darker.Mia stood slowly, swallowing down the jolt of panic and wrapping herself in the poise she had just spent the last hour displaying

Chapter 77As Mia sat down opposite the host, the applause still echoed in her chest, the residual heat from the spotlight clinging to her skin like a second layer. Her palms were clammy despite the powder dusted on them by the makeup team, and her breath tried to keep rhythm with the nerves drumming in her chest. The host, Rowan Cole, a charismatic man known for his piercing questions and empathetic tone, leaned forward, eyes warm. "First off, Mia," he said, voice calm and rich, "you look radiant tonight. And that performance… absolutely stunning.” The applause came again before he continued. “Tell me, what did it feel like singing that song again, in front of the world?"Mia took a breath, letting her shoulders settle. "It felt... like I was finally telling the truth. Not to the world, but to myself. I wrote that song one night I felt everything shattered. And I thought I'd buried it with my past. But music doesn't die just because we stop playing it."A hum of agreement spread thr

Chapter 76 The applause still rang in Mia’s ears like the aftershocks of a wave, trembling through her ribcage as she stepped down from the stage, her heels clicking lightly against the marble. The university’s auditorium lights dimmed slightly, casting a golden haze over the packed room, and there she was, Susan, grinning ear to ear like a child who had just watched her favorite magician perform."You're so talented, Mia!" Susan squealed, flinging her arms around Mia.Mia let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding, smiling faintly as she returned the embrace."They loved you. God, you should see the kid's reaction. They took videos of you during the lecture. Posted them on social media. Now, you've got them eating out of your palm. That last answer you gave about no regrets? Boom. It went viral."Mia pulled back, brows creasing. "Viral? Susan, I thought we agreed…"Susan cut her off, bouncing with barely restrained excitement. "No, no. Not that kind of viral. This one's go
