I was back in Alexander's room but for a completely different reason.
The sun had set by the time we made it back to the mansion and instead of escorting me to my room like the gentleman he had been from the moment I met him, he led me into his room, kicking the door close behind us and pulling me back to him, eager to continue from where we left off.
He was kissing me deeply. Desperately. Our kisses were hasty, breathless, never ending, each of them frantically rolling into the next.
He was breathing heavily and I was about to catch fire and burn up in his arms. My trembling hands tentatively reached under his shirt, hesitant at first until he paused, pressing my hand to his skin and encouraging me to keep at it. I gasped, feeling the hardened planes of his abdominal muscles for the first time, shivers shooting up my spine, goosebumps erupting on my skin.
He growled into my mouth, tearing his lips from me and ripping off his shirt by himself, fling
I woke up to a heavy arm wrapped around my waist and the crushing weight of sexual gratification. And when my eyes fluttered open, trying to adjust to the unfamiliar surrounding, I saw Alexander looking right at me, dark blue eyes gazing into mine.Almost immediately, a blush crept up my cheeks."Good morning." A soft smile was playing on his cheeks, a certain glint in his eyes. He looked well rested, light and playful even, instead of the wound up, straight back man I was used to seeing. And my heart was racing right out of my chest."Good morning." I squeaked back, my voice scratchy against my throat. His hands coasted down my naked body, brushing the sides of my breasts and tickling the skin of my waist. I sucked in a strangled breath as pleasure skittered through my skin, memories of last night bathed in darkness and moonlight danced its way to the front of my memory. His eyes darkened at my gasp and his hand tightened on my hips and pull
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," a voice drawled behind me, scaring the life out of me.I gasped and whirled around, my eyes wide with shock as I stared into Ophelia's lush green eyes. She was leaning against the wall, right beside me, elegant and beautiful as ever. Her raven black hair was dark and glossy in luscious curls that framed her forehead and oval face. Her green eyes glittered under the lighting in the hallway and her dress was a revealing but exquisite slash of satin on her body, exposing golden tan skin in all the right places. It was no surprise that I hadn't heard her approaching me. She was a werewolf after all and disguising her steps would come easy to her. Not like I would know anything about it. I was clumsy to a fault and about as stealthy as a drunk kitten. Her eyes narrowed into slits and she tilted her head, glossy black hair falling down her smooth shoulders, a calculative glint danced in her eyes. "What do you think you
My fingers were still quivering from the aftereffect of the adrenaline ebbing away in my veins. I was sitting in my huge queen sized bed, buried under silken sheets, trembling violently as the event that just occurred downstairs played in my head.Never in my life have I seen such a terrifying display of power with such a devastating magnitude. I couldn't get over the fact that Solan's mate was dead. That countless other people were lying dead and blackened and shriveled up on the same marble floor, in the same hallway I have walked past a hundred times since I got here.I had just started to see this place as home. I had just started to feel comfortable here - free, safe. But if such a horrifying evil could easily make it's way into Alexander's home, it meant that no one was safe. It also meant that Black Bane was stronger than we all gave them credit for.Way stronger. My heart sunk to my stomach and anxiety bled through my pores. I was biting the skin
If I thought the council room was quiet before, it was nothing compared to the stifling silence that settled in the room after Alexander finished reading the ominous letter.I swallowed and wrung my trembling fingers together, clenching my teeth to stop them from chattering wildly.Alexander let out a deep, heavy sigh and leaned back against his seat, calmly folding the piece of paper. Everyone seemed to be struggling to even take their next breaths and it was Solan that broke the silence. Her teeth was tightly clenched in barely concealed rage. "This is obviously a slap on the face to our Alpha and our pack! He thinks he can murder our Beta - my husband - and threaten us unprovoked? We can't let him, Diablo or whatever the hell his name is, get away with this! Black Bane will pay for this!"The whole room was thrown into chaos."Yes! I agree with Solan!" A dark skinned woman with gold in her hair said. "Black Bane's tyranny needs to come to an end
The entire atmosphere in the mansion didn't lighten up even after news spread of Alexander's verdict and his decision to chose peace. If anything, everywhere grew more tense and pensive and snatches of conversations made it clear to me that I was nobody's favourite person at the moment.Just yesterday, I had heard snatches of gossip from the kitchen maids as they washed up the day's dishes, their tongues sharp and poisonous and slashing cuts into my skin."She has him wrapped around her fingers, I'm telling you." One of them had hissed, soaking up a charred pot to wash up later. "She's not good for our Alpha.""She's actually going to get us all killed and Alpha Alexander should be wiser than that. Who invites their own enemy to a tea party?""We're all doomed, I'm telling you. I would have left Silver Dawn but my indenture isn't up yet.""Me too. We're stuck here together, Clair."I had sighed and walked away, pretending I didn't hear them,
My ears were ringing with the absurdity of that statement."Well, hello, brother."I couldn't believe it. My ears were playing tricks on me. This must all be part of a dream I hadn't waken up from. Because Alexander's brother was dead. Or supposed to be, at least.I looked at Alexander and a myriad of emotions washed through his face. Disbelief. Guilt. Relief. Dread. And finally, fear.I had never seen him at a loss for words, completely frozen and so pale, he looked like death. Finally, his lips cracked open and he whispered one word, "Cassius."Even the name rocked me to my core, eliciting a shiver that trotted down my spine.I looked at the man only to see annoyance flash across his wickedly beautiful face. "Diablo," he corrected with a voice so deceptively smooth, I almost lulled at the tone of it. "The name's Diablo now."Alexander's lips split into a relieved smile, "oh my god, it IS you. How is this possible?" His face contorted into an incredulous look, relief, pouring from h
Cassius' PovI never thought I'd be back here. It never occurred to me that they'd deliver themselves up to me like an offering and play right into my hands. We had retreated back into the house to draw up a better binding contract to solidify our agreement and sign on it to keep our ends of the bargain.I scoffed internally. Like a fucking piece of paper and some ink would hold me back from the havoc I was going to wreck on this pack. This dreadful pack was a blight that bled spite and bigotry from its pores. That puffed their chests with pompous pride and importance. That bred its pups to do the same. The idiot actually thought that the other packs will pay him heed.He had always been so full of himself, even when he was just a kid. Affecting more importance than he was worth.Hopeless, naive fool.Nobody will come to Silver Dawn's aid. The others will wait until the proud pack has fallen. They'll even be too happy to stand on the sidelines and watch. And by the time I'm done with
I didn't quite believe it when I first heard it. But the visiting alpha taking over his former room had all but confirmed everything;Alexander had asked his brother to stay behind and even went on to prepare a banquet in honour of him... The brother who insisted that everyone call him the devil.Except you though, a voice slithered into my head, sending shivers snaking down my spine.I rubbed my elbow and chewed on my lip nervously, worried about his weird fixation on me. And mine on him.He made me feel things, stirring something in that part of me that should be numb to anoher man's advances. He would catch my eyes and give me a knowing look, mischievous fire sparking in his eyes. As if I was in on a secret he was keeping from the others.I was aware of his presence in a way that made me feel antsy and anxious. My gaze dragged to him whenever he was near, even when I didn't will it, and there was a ball of desire churning tirelessly in my lower abdomen whenever our eyes met, even i
