Mabella's POV

“Mabella, bring the hair gel.”

“Mabella, go get an apple.”

“Mabella, bring that scarf.”

Mabella this, Mabella that.

“Aaaahhh! I'm done here!” I yelled in anger, running out of the house.

Even though there are maids around, my stepmother, Phebian, keeps sending me on multiple errands as if it were her life mission to make me miserable.

I sat under the orange tree, the only place that brings comfort to me.

Today is my step-sister Anabel's wedding.

I'm the one who's supposed to be the bride but our lives were switched.

All thanks to whatever is wrong with me that makes me eat with no control.

You see, my mother had actually betrothed me to Alpha Alfredo De Luca when I was two before she passed away.

She knew Phebian was going to make me miserable and the poor woman probably thought being the Alpha’s concubine would give me a better life and that's true.

Only if she knew everything that had happened after she was gone.

If only she knew her daughter was going to get obsessed.

I wiped a tear that was running down my cheek while my fingers uprooted the poor grasses.

You see, my name was originally Anabel and my step-sister was Mabel, but I suddenly started getting bigger. No one knew what was wrong and the fat ugly man could not be presented to the Alpha as his betrothed, not in the pack where the skinnier you are, the prettier you are.

I would just bring ridicule and embarrassment to the family.

So they did it.

My father, whom I'm so sure had promised my mother not to let me suffer in her presence.

He and my stepmother swapped my step-sister and my name so that she who was all perfect could be presented as the bride and not me.

And since the day I lost my name, I lost my life too. All the grace and royal education I've been getting have stopped and worse, I'm not even introduced as part of the family.

“She’s a family friend.” My heart stung as my stepmother's words flowed into my memory.

And my father was there, standing, but he didn't say anything.

I'm not asking to be the Alpha's bride, I know I will never be, even if I'm asked to, but I wish I were loved.

I wish I could have people who can stand behind me, fight for me, and provide comfort.

That was why I fell for Brandon, he provided love and comfort that no one had ever shown.

I thought giving him my virginity was the best way to say thank you to him, but turns out I just made his mission even more successful.

He never loved me.

I was just an experiment object to him.

What was I expecting?

Can anyone ever love me?

No!

Why did I become too dumb?

I really wish I could go to his house and sit on his head till he stops breathing but that's only going to make things worse.

“And guess who is here?” Sandra came up behind me.

“The big fat wolf.” Chloe jeered.

“You mean elephant?” Sandra said and they both laughed.

“What do you want?” I asked, looking up at Anabel's best friends who are also my bullies.

“It's impossible not to look after seeing a whale from afar, don't you think?” Sandra smirked and I so wanted to smack that stupid face of hers.

“Just let me be,” I said, standing up.

“And if we don't?” Chloe asked but I ignored them.

I walked away but the tears had blurred my vision so badly that I didn't see the stone they had rolled before my feet.

I tripped and landed on the ground with a loud thud.

“Ooopsieee!” They both laughed.

Anger burned through me as I struggled to get myself up.

I wanted to walk away but Hazel, my wolf, had had enough of their bullshit.

“Which of you did that?” I roared.

“And what are you gonna do? Crush us with your big foot? Oh, mommy I'm shaking in my boots, Miss Elephant will step on us and…”

Smack!

My hand moved faster than I could control.

Immediately my hand left Chloe's cheek, and the red lines of five fingers appeared like a rainbow in the sky.

Gasps escaped their lips and as I marched towards them, they started running and screaming at the top of their voices.

---

“I'm so sorry, Sir Kaido. The normal punishment will be given to her in public after the wedding of my daughter to the Alpha.” My heart broke as my father apologized to Chloe's dad.

He was supposed to get mad, so mad that his daughter was being bullied or maybe even proud that I stood up for myself but my father was there, apologizing and even promising to punish me.

For what?

My hands curled into fists.

I hate him, I hate him so much.

“Oh, poor Mabella, I heard about what happened and honestly I think it's not fair,” Anabel said while barging into my room without knocking.

And I know what to expect, another fake sympathy laced with mockery.

I looked and she's one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen.

Her blonde hair was pulled into French braids with shiny little ornaments scattered all around it and so her head looked more like a chandelier than her head, attracting every single light in the room.

The red evening dress hung onto her pear-shaped body perfectly and her skin? It was like glass.

“Oh, I guess someone is checking me out, go on, adore this goddess body…” she giggled, posing around like a model. I rolled my eyes and suddenly she raised her foot to my lips.

“What the heck is wrong with you, Anabel?” I demanded.

“I thought you admired me so badly that you wanted to kiss my feet.”

I wanted to slap the foot away but she quickly moved it before I could reach it.

“Eww… don't touch me, you don't want your punishment to be increased, huh?”

“Just go away, Anabel, I've had enough for today,” I begged.

“Poor girl.” She laughed and I was surprised and super relieved when I saw her leave my room.

---

Later that night, I watched as the cars drove out of the compound.

They are leaving.

Leaving for Anabel's wedding.

Tomorrow, she's going to be married to the Alpha.

Something that could have been me.

I remember back then, before I got big, I was getting a royal education. I was getting it all — attention, love, respect — but now it's all gone and Anabel had fully taken my place.

And worse?

I'm banned from attending the wedding.

“Showing her ugly fat face will make the royal family think our gorgeous Anabel might bring forth an ugly thing for them. They will think there's a bad trait in the family’s gene.” I heard Phebian say earlier.

Father couldn't even fight for me.

And I was here, all alone at home while my sister was getting married to the man I was supposed to get married to.

She will be introduced as me, presented as me to the royal family.

Meanwhile the original me — the object of ridicule they always want to hide — is dying from her thoughts.

Oh Moon Goddess, what have I done so badly to deserve this?

Why is my fate this way?

Is it I that wronged you or my mother?

I tried so hard to ignore the rumbling sound in my stomach but it became so unbearable and before I knew it, I was on the dining table chewing on a large hamburger.

Day three of failed dieting attempt.

I sighed.

The day I'd finally get rid of what's wrong with me, I'd be grateful…

But for now, I have to keep living in shame as no healer in the pack is able to figure out what it was.

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   Your Brother Is Still Alive

Mabella’s POV“You really came.”I stopped at the edge of the clearing, my voice carrying across the damp grass before I could think better of it. The words tasted bitter on my tongue. The old orange tree stood heavy with fruit behind her, its sweet rotting scent thick in the morning air. Alfredo and Fred lingered two steps back in the tree line like I had asked, but I could still feel them watching. The woman turned slowly. My mother. Or the ghost of her. “Mabella,” she said, low and careful, like my name might break if she spoke it too loud. “I wasn’t sure you would. After everything.”“After everything?” I let out a sharp, ugly sound that was supposed to be a laugh. “You mean after I spent fifteen years believing you burned on that pyre? After I stood there until the ashes went cold and they had to drag me away? Yeah. I still came. Because apparently I’m still stupid enough to hope this Ruby nonsense might fix something.”She looked older up close. Silver threaded through her dark

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   Come Alone If You Want It Back

Mabella's POV"The Ruby is gone."Fred’s voice hit the corridor like a slap. We all froze.I spun around so fast my head spun. He was rushing toward us from the vault wing, face pale, eyes wild and red-rimmed like he’d just been punched in the soul."What the hell do you mean it’s gone?" Alfredo barked, stepping forward. "Fred, talk to me.""Overnight," Fred said, breathing hard, almost gasping. "Third hour rotation. The outer door was completely intact. No forced entry, no alarms, nothing. It’s just… not there anymore. Vanished.""That’s impossible," Alfredo growled, voice rising. "The protections were supposed to hold for weeks—""They were weaker than we thought, okay?" Fred snapped back, sounding wrecked. "Way fucking weaker. Whoever took it knew the exact degradation level. Down to the hour, Alfredo. They didn’t guess. They timed it perfectly."I looked at Serena. She stood there frozen, one hand gripping her shawl so tight her knuckles were bone-white. "Serena… you knew this mig

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   Someone Is Coming for the Ruby

Alfredo's POV"The Ruby."Fred said it from the war room doorway, voice low and tight in a way that made me drop everything immediately. It was barely past the fifth hour. Mabella had shaken me awake twenty minutes earlier with that look on her face — the one that said shit had changed overnight and she needed me up before she could even breathe through it. Serena stood right behind her, calm as hell, like she’d been waiting three years just for this moment. Now the four of us were crammed in the war room with the early morning grey pressing against the windows. Fred had the old vault records spread open on the table like they’d personally betrayed him."The protection wards," Fred said, eyes still glued to the papers. "Last renewal was seven years ago.""The protocol’s supposed to happen every five," I said slowly, already feeling the weight sink in."Yeah.""So they’ve been weakening for two years."Fred just nodded. "Yes."I turned and looked at my mother. She met my eyes without f

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   The Sacred Ruby Was Never Safe

Mabella's POV"He cried once."Serena said it so softly I almost missed it. She was cradling her tea with both hands, staring into the low flicker of the lamp like the memory was playing right there in the flame."Alfredo?" I asked."Yeah." She gave a small nod. "He was seventeen. His father had just sat him down and told him he’d be Alpha one day. Instead of looking proud, he came straight to my room that night. Sat in the chair by my bed and didn’t say a single word for the longest time." She paused. "Then he cried. Quiet. Like he was trying to do it without making a sound."I watched her face. "What did you do?""Nothing," she said. "I just let him. That’s the part nobody warns you about when you’re raising someone strong. Sometimes the best thing you can do is sit there and not look away while they fall apart." She met my eyes. "He needed to know I could see all of it and still believe he’d be okay."The lamp hissed softly between us."He doesn’t cry now," I murmured."No," Serena

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   The Fourth Hour Confessions

Mabella's POV"You're awake."Serena's voice came from the doorway, low and warm in the middle of the night. I looked up from my tea, a little startled but not surprised. She stood there in her heavy shawl, boots still on like she’d just come back from the ride."So are you," I said, waving her in. "Come sit. Couldn't I sleep?""I wake at the fourth hour," she replied, crossing the room and dropping into the chair across from me like it was hers. "Always have. Old habit that refuses to die." She eyed my cup. "Any more of that tea left?"I stood up, poured her one, and slid it over. We both settled back, the lamp burning low between us, the rest of the palace dead quiet."How are you feeling?" I asked after a minute. "Honestly. After yesterday.""Strong," she said simply, wrapping both hands around the warm cup. "Tired, yes, but strong. That ride showed me I still have a long way to go with my stamina." She let out a small huff. "Caspian is going to be absolutely insufferable about it,

  • FAT GIRLS can’t be LUNA   The Ashborne Queen Closed the War

Alfredo's POV"That's her," Fred said quietly.I was already kicking my horse forward before the words fully left his mouth. The pre-dawn air was grey and biting cold as I closed the distance. Even from here I could tell it was her — the way she sat that horse, back straight like a queen, chin tilted up, that unshakable certainty in every line of her body. Three years in a bed and she still looked like she owned the damn road.I pulled up beside her.She turned her head and met my eyes."You're faster than I expected," she said, almost amused."You left the charter open to page one hundred and forty-seven," I shot back. "What the hell did you expect?"The corner of her mouth twitched. Almost a smile.I scanned her face, her posture, her hands on the reins. The color was good. Eyes sharp. No shakes. "You alright?""I'm perfectly fine," she said. "I told you I would be.""You told me nothing," I growled. "You left a damn note.""A very thorough note," she corrected, calm as ever.Mabell
