Ayla

The silence in my mind had become a second skin.

Days blurred. My body moved, but I felt… hollow. Not dead, not alive. Just here.

No presence stirred in the place where my wolf once resided. No growl. No nudge. No comfort. It was like losing my breath and learning to live without air.

I barely spoke to Beatrix. Even when she tried to keep things light, to pretend nothing had changed, I knew she could see it too—something inside me was broken.

It was on one of those sleepless nights, curled in the chair by the fire, that I remembered it.

The locket.

Mae's locket. The one she’d left me before she died. I had tucked it into the bottom of my satchel days ago. It had always made me uneasy, like it was humming with something… old.

With trembling fingers, I retrieved it from the bag and sat staring at it.

Gold. Worn but intact. The surface was carved with unfamiliar symbols that shimmered faintly in the firelight. I should have opened it the day I got it. But something had always stoppe

  • FATED TO THE ALPHA WHO HATED ME    Whispers against me

Whispers against me Ayla I woke to the sound of muffled voices outside my door. For a moment, I stayed still, listening.“Why is she still here?” one maid whispered.“She doesn’t belong in the palace,” another hissed. “Half-witch, half-wolf? What kind of bloodline is that?”I squeezed my eyes shut, wishing the floor would open and swallow me.A knock pulled me from my spiraling thoughts. “My lady? May I come in?” Nyra’s voice, gentle but nervous.“Yes,” I croaked, rubbing my eyes. She slipped in, balancing a tray of food. Warm bread, roasted roots, a cup of spiced tea that smelled faintly of honey. “The Alpha asked me to make sure you eat well this morning,” she said with a small bow.Of course, Cade would send food but not come himself. Typical Alpha duties. Always busy.Nyra placed the tray by my bedside, her eyes flicking up to mine. “He left early. The council meets today.”“The council?” I asked, sitting up slowly. My stomach still ached from yesterday’s outburst of power.Sh

  • FATED TO THE ALPHA WHO HATED ME    Back to Bloodhowl Palace 2.

Ayla’s POVThe kiss still burned on my lips when Cade finally pulled back. His hand lingered against my cheek, his eyes holding me as if I might vanish if he blinked. I should have shoved him away, should have screamed all the words that had been locked inside me for years. But I couldn’t. My heart was racing too fast, my body trembling, and something deep inside me, something I didn’t recognize was stirring. Then it happened.A sudden pulse. Warmth spread from my chest, down my arms, into my fingertips. The locket against my skin heated until I gasped, clutching at it. Cade frowned, reaching for me, but before his hand could touch mine, a shock of light burst from the locket, filling the room.I couldn’t breathe. I couldn't think. Images flooded my mind flashes of forests burning, blood spilling under a silver moon, a woman who looked like me but older, her eyes glowing violet as she whispered words I didn’t understand. My knees gave out, and I clutched the sheets as the visions ove

  • FATED TO THE ALPHA WHO HATED ME    Back to Bloodhowl Palace 1.

Ayla I woke up to the soft whispers of Cade and someone who seems to be in her late seventies. How did I get here? In the palace I ran away from. From people that detest me. I was still in my train of thought when Cade’s eyes met mine. He looked stressed, like he hadn't slept a bit. He smiled a little and came to me. The woman went out, not without looking at me with some strange expression. “How are you doing Ayla”. Cade asked me, looking concerned. “Hmm”. I managed to say. I shift a little but my tummy hurts and I groan. “Are you alright?”. He asked again, rubbing his hand with mine. “Water”. I whispered and he quickly stood up to bring it. I glanced around the room and found out we were the only one in. No maids. He returned with the cup almost too quickly, as if every second mattered. His hands trembled slightly as he helped me sit up, pressing the rim of the cup against my lips. I drank slowly, each swallow cooling the dryness in my throat, though my body st

  • FATED TO THE ALPHA WHO HATED ME    What sleeps beneath her skin

Cade I ran like a storm, faster than my lungs could keep up.The moment I saw the shattered teacup and the crumpled robe on the floor. her locket tangled in the silk. I knew something was horribly wrong. She hadn’t just left. She’d run.And she’d taken nothing. Not even shoes. Not even that damn locket she always clutched like it had breath in it.My wolf surged inside me, frantic. I tore out of the palace, past guards and shocked elders, who saw me. None of it mattered.Only Ayla.I caught her scent the moment I hit the woods — wild jasmine and rain. Faint. Fleeing. She was hurting.Because of me.I followed her trail deeper into the forest, ignoring the thorns biting into my skin, the blood pooling in my boots. Then I heard it — growling. Low. Close.I slowed. Dropped to a crouch.Rogues.I counted five of them in a crooked circle just ahead. Their posture wasn’t aggressive. It was... curious. As if they’d stumbled across prey they didn’t know how to approach. And then I saw what

  • FATED TO THE ALPHA WHO HATED ME    Foolish me

Ayla POVI didn’t remember walking.Only the sound of my heart breaking in my ears.It was louder than their moans.Louder than Maerina’s whisper.Louder than Cade’s grunt as he gave himself to her — completely, recklessly.I stood there.Foolish.Frozen.And watching the man's fate bound to me make love to someone else.Right there on the bed where I once dreamt he’d hold me someday. Not out of duty. Not out of guilt.I just walked. One step. Then another.Down the corridor. Past the guards. Through the velvet-draped halls of a palace that never felt like mine.No one stopped me.No one asked why I was like that. Why were my hands shaking? Why couldn't my eyes focus?Maybe they didn’t see me. Maybe I’d turned invisible again. Just a shadow of a girl who never really belonged. Not like everyone in this pack care about a lowly Omega like me I walked until I reached my suite. And then I crumbled. The door shut behind me like a coffin lid.The moment the door shut behind me, I dropped t

  • FATED TO THE ALPHA WHO HATED ME    My Lust ruined everything

Cade’s POVJust as I was finally approaching her suite, a voice called out behind me.“Alpha Cade.”I turned, my brows furrowed, frustration simmering. It was one of the elders, his expression tight. Why now?“The rogue has been brought in.”I forced a nod, jaw clenching. “Alright. I’ll meet you there.”But he stepped closer, gaze scanning my face as if trying to peel back my skin. “The interrogation starts in three minutes. We need you there. Now.”I swallowed my annoyance. “Fine. Lead the way.”Reluctantly, I followed him through the stone hallways back to the dungeon. My wolf paced in my chest, already sensing the tension thick in the air. When we entered, the rogue was already chained, lean, wild-eyed, bloodied but laughing like he’d won something we didn’t yet understand. That laugh.I could rip his throat out just for that.“Why are you terrorizing our lands?” one of the elders demanded. The rogue threw his head back. “Ha... ha ha ha... More is coming,” he wheezed. “Much, much
