TAKEN AGAIN

I woke up again in the tiny bit of space called a prison, I always dream that one day a prince charming will come and sweep me off my feet but again that only happens in movies.

“Riley, is he not coming today?” Josh asked. He was a nine year old kid whose mother died not quite long but was surprisingly taking it good.

He is right.

He ought to be here by now, telling us what our punishments will be and dishing them out.

I suddenly heard footsteps, each step was making my heartbeat increase the more because whenever he is here, we always end up in trouble.

The footsteps became louder and the door opens and it turns out to be Noah.

Noah was my mate, I was beyond overjoyed when I found out he was my mate but the joy didn’t last long because his father made him reject me.

It was like I was dying that day. Each time I recall that moment, the more my heart breaks.

“You have to go, he will be back soon” Noah said as he unlock my cage and turn towards the others.

“What do you mean?” I asked as I stumble to get myself in position and out of the prison.

“He got drunk last night and forgot the keys before he left for his journey and knowing him, he will be back soon. Run and don’t ever come back” He said in a stern tone.

“What about you?” Reuben, a thirteen year old who is also there with us and his baby sister asked while Josh held Noah’s hand.

“He will kill you if he finds out you helped us” I said scared for his life.

“I will take it as my punishment for rejecting you. Now leave” He said as he opened the back door.

I stare at him for one last time before grabbing Josh’s hand and we all finally starts running, running away from the monster who had kept us there for years.

We were free.

Free from him.

We are finally free.

Maybe some dreams do come true.

“Am hungry” Josh said after we finally stopped for what seems like hours.

“Same here” Reuben said as I searched desperately for what we could possibly eat.

“Do you hear that?” Reuben asked and we all kept quiet and I could hear footsteps approaching.

It wasn’t coming in our directions but as if luck wasn’t on our side Daniella, Reuben’s baby sister starts crying.

“Who are you and what are you doing on our lands?” A voice said and I look up to see a tall guy with two other people beside him,two ladies smiling at us, one rather devilishly.

What does he mean by their land?

Did we trespass into their territory?

“Am sorry, we had no idea it was your territory, we were just passing by” I explained.

“So you are rogues” He said.

“That explains the stench” The lady beside him said while glaring at me.

“Follow me” He commanded.

“I will rather go my way and leave” I said and they all chuckled.

“Nobody trespasses and go leave freely as he or she wishes. Now be a good rogue and follow us” The other lady who had been silent said and I growled at them.

“You seriously like to play dirty, don’t you?” The guy said before hitting me on my neck and I black out.

I woke up in a cell, well it does look more fancier than that of Noah’s but doesn’t mean I still didn’t hate it.

I look over my side and see the kids and rush over to them to see if they are okay.

“Did they hurt you? Are you okay?” I asked both of them while checking to make sure Ella was okay.

“They didn’t beat us like I thought they would” Reuben said and I heave a sigh of relief.

I will do anything to get out of here, it wouldn’t be like before.

I can’t make the same mistake twice.
