"Are you sure you’re alright?”

It was Dixal’s second time asking as they drove toward the party.

Flora Amor drew in a deep breath, forcing a smile.

“Yup. Don’t worry, I’m fine,” she assured, laying her left hand over his thigh.

But the truth was, she wasn’t fine at all. Her nerves were rattled, her mind restless. What if Dixal’s family wasn’t just wealthy but extravagantly rich? What if they refused to accept her, and that was why he’d kept her hidden? She knew Dixal had only agreed to come because she insisted, just so she could ease her doubts. Yet ever since this morning, she could see how unsettled he was...haunted by his dream from the night before, even after she told him again and again it was nothing but a dream.

She trusted him. He wasn’t the kind of man to betray her or do anything that could end their marriage. Leaving him would be her very last resort. Still, despite her reassurances, his unease showed in his eyes.

“After we see my mom, we must go back home, ok

  • FLOWER OF LOVE   STOW AWAY

ONE WEEK LATER Dixal no longer allowed Flora Amor to work. She stayed inside their house in Imus, shielded from stress—or so he thought. Her mother, however, was clearly not spared. “Of all the stubborn children in the world, you just had to be the worst,” her mother snapped while gathering the lanzones peels scattered on the table. “You get pregnant, and suddenly you turn into a complete slob. Were you hit on the head or something?” “Ma, just leave those there,” Flora Amor said calmly, peeling another fruit. “They’re wrapped. The sap won’t stain the table.” “Witch!” her mother barked, dropping into the seat beside her. “You’ve been eating nonstop since earlier. If your belly balloons too fast, you’ll be the one suffering when you give birth. Crazy girl!” She laughed. “How would my stomach balloon when I’m only eating fruit? Relax, Ma.” Her mother clicked her tongue. “Hush, do whatever you want. I’m leaving. I’m going to the salon.” “Again?” she teased. “Yesterday you said you

Dixal changed his mind. Instead of going to the detention center to speak with his grandfather, he chose to accompany Flora Amor to Devon’s school to pick up their son. “Dixal… Christmas is almost here,” she said, breaking the silence as they waited in the school’s parking area, watching the door where Devon’s classroom was located. “Aren’t you really going to talk to your grandfather?” He kept his gaze fixed on the windshield. “What reason do I have to see him?” His voice carried quiet bitterness. “What I learned today only deepened my resentment. Sometimes I feel like I don’t even belong to him—like he isn’t truly my father’s father. Honestly, I’d probably feel relieved if my mother told me he wasn’t Papa’s father at all.” She reached for his arm, her touch gentle but firm. “Learn to forgive, even when it’s difficult—especially when it involves family. What matters is that he’s already in prison and can’t hurt anyone anymore.” He turned to her, studying her face. “Am

Everything for that day had already been planned—if only Nicky hadn’t come to Dixal’s office. For the first time, the woman bowed respectfully before Flora Amor. “Good day, Madam Flor. I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you right away when you attended our previous meeting. I thought Sir was with Ms. Shelda back then,” she said apologetically. Flora Amor paused, thinking. When she finally remembered when that meeting had taken place, she stepped closer and gently helped Nicky straighten up. “Oh, it’s fine,” she said lightly. “No one would’ve known I was Dixal’s wife anyway—if I hadn’t lost my temper inside your department. I don’t think he ever planned to introduce his wife to the public.” She said it teasingly, casting a playful yet pointed glance at the man perched on the edge of his worktable, one foot on the floor and the other raised. Dixal scratched his forehead and smiled sheepishly. Nicky smiled too, embarrassed but amused. “So, what brings you here?” Dixal asked. “E

Nancy’s stomach knotted even before she stepped inside the restaurant where she was supposed to meet her siblings. What they didn’t know—what they would never expect—was that the original land titles were in her possession. So was their father’s last will and testament. Everything belonged to her. It had always belonged to her.She could still remember the night her father gave her those documents—the very night before their grand house burned to the ground.“Eliza, come here, my child,” her father had called softly. He sat behind his worktable in the small library, turning slowly in his swivel chair. Beside him stood Paul, still a young man then—Anton’s father—already serving as his bodyguard at twenty. Paul was only five years older than her. She herself was barely fifteen. She approached and climbed onto her father’s lap.“Papa, why do you look so sad?” she had asked. He glanced at Paul and motioned toward the envelope on the table. Paul obeyed, removed the documents inside, and ha

A gentle kiss on her forehead stirred Flora Amor awake that morning. Her eyes fluttered open at once, and as Dixal began to pull away, she suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck. “Where are you going?” she asked. “I’m heading to the office. I still have a lot to fix there,” he replied, then kissed her lips. “Don’t go yet. Stay here with me,” she pleaded softly. He braced his hands on the mattress and gazed down at her with a teasing smile. “Still unsatisfied from last night?” he taunted. “Tsk!” she scoffed. Then the smell of whatever her mother was cooking drifted into the room. “That smells awful! Go tell Mama to close the kitchen door so the odor won’t reach here,” she complained, letting go of his neck and covering her nose. Laughing, Dixal flicked her on the forehead. “All right, boss. Want me to buy anything while I’m out?” “Just guyabano and mangoes with shrimp paste,” she answered, her words muffled behind her hand. “I’ll talk to Mama first,” he said.

  • FLOWER OF LOVE   THOSE OLD YET SWEET MEMORIES

It was already past nine in the evening, yet Flora Amor was still fast asleep. Nancy paced restlessly inside the house, while outside, Dixal remained kneeling in the same place he had been ordered to stay. Devon was there too—night had fallen, but the child was still absorbed in reading the stack of books his Pappy had bought for him. Neither father nor son noticed the time, both too engrossed in Devon’s books. What troubled Nancy was the sky. Heavy clouds loomed above. If rain poured down on the two outside, illness would surely follow. She made up her mind. She rushed out and crouched in front of the child. “You’re a good actor, my baby… aren’t you?” she whispered. “Why, Mama?” Devon asked innocently. “I’m fine here, Ma,” Dixal tried to say. “Stay quiet,” she cut him off. “Your mother will kill me if something happens to you.” Then she turned back to her grandson. “Cry loudly, baby. Wake your Mommy so you and Daddy can finally come inside.” Devon nodded. “Please take my bo
