Lara’s POV

I hesitated in front of Aiden’s office door, palms damp, heart racing. The words “I love you” spun circles in my head, but they refused to come out right. Should I just say it? Or throw it in as a joke so I could laugh it off if he didn’t feel the same?

I knocked lightly—so soft it was almost pointless. No answer. I tried again, a little firmer. Still silence.

Taking a shaky breath, I pushed the door open just enough to peek inside. He was there—behind his desk, sleeves rolled up, pen in hand. The veins in his forearm flexed with every stroke, his jaw set in focus. My chest tightened.

“Um…” My voice came out small. “Can I come in?”

His head lifted. His eyes landed on me, unreadable but warmer than usual.

“Of course,” he said.

I slipped inside, closing the door softly. My fingers twisted the hem of my blouse as I stopped in front of his desk.

“I… came to deliver my application letter,” I said, forcing the words past the lump in my throat. “And I thought I should… com

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    The Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Jewelry House

Lara’s POV It was lunch break, Rose finally had time for me. We left the design floor together and headed to the cafeteria, the smell of food drifting out even before we walked in. The place buzzed with chatter, clinking trays, and the hum of workers unwinding for a short while. We grabbed our meals and found a small table near the corner. I dug into my food right away, but Rose just sat there for a moment, poking at her rice like she wasn’t really hungry. Her voice dropped low, barely above a whisper. “You know… I’m starting to think this whole internship idea was a bad one.” I nearly choked on my drink. “Wait, what? Are you seriously saying this right now?” I laughed, leaning toward her with a playful smirk. Rose narrowed her eyes at me, clearly annoyed at my amusement. I shook my head and teased, “Don’t tell me you’re already giving up. One day in, and you’re planning of giving up?” Her lips twitched, like she wanted to smile but refused. “Giving up? Never. Especially w

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    Internship at Heritage Jewelry House

Lara’s POV Two weeks passed faster than I expected. Exams were over, and today was the start of something new—our internship. I stood outside my gate, bag slung over my shoulder, tapping my foot nervously against the pavement. My heart felt lighter than it had in days, though a part of me still lingered on that moment in Aiden’s office. The way he held me… and the way he forgot me the moment Evelyn walked in. I shook the thought away the second I saw Rose’s car slowing to a stop in front of me. She leaned over the window, grinning like she’d just won the lottery. “Hop in!” she called. I slid into the passenger seat, buckling in. “Wow… you’re actually early. I was sure I’d be waiting another twenty minutes at least.” Rose flicked her hair over her shoulder dramatically, her grin widening. “Are you kidding? Today’s our first day! I can’t bear to be late—not even for a second.” I chuckled, shaking my head. “Who are you, and what have you done with the real Rose?” She gasped

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    Don’t make a habit of chasing me

Rose’s POV My feet felt like they were glued to the floor. Kiddo? He just called me kiddo, like I was some little girl who had wandered into the wrong room. My lips parted but no sound came out.His dark eyes locked on me, sharp and unyielding, the kind that made your heartbeat skip and then race all over again. His voice cut through the silence, deep and commanding. “Didn’t you hear me, Rose? Come here.” I swallowed hard. He… he knows my name? Slowly, with legs trembling, I walked toward him. Every step felt like the entire room was holding its breath. I stopped a few feet away, twisting my fingers together nervously. “I—I didn’t mean to interrupt,” I whispered. “I was just… looking around.” Kailin leaned back in his chair, studying me with that piercing gaze. The way he carried himself, the way others had left the room without a word—this was not a driver. This was someone powerful. Someone untouchable. “You’re curious,” he finally said, his tone unreadable. “But cur

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION     Come here Kiddo

Rose’s POV I couldn’t help it—I was way too excited. Lara had gone upstairs to meet Aiden, but me? I wanted to see everything. This was Aiden’s company, the famous Heritage Jewelry House. Just being here felt unreal. Nathan had taken our application letters, promising to handle them, and I used that chance to wander. The place was gorgeous—sleek glass walls, modern furniture, displays of jewelry that sparkled under the perfect lighting. Every corner screamed luxury. I walked slowly through the hallways, peeking into offices when the doors were open, waving and smiling at anyone who glanced my way. Some workers smiled back politely, others just looked confused, but I didn’t care. My heart was racing from the excitement. This wasn’t just any building—it was where I could possibly be working soon. And for some reason, that thought made me giddy enough to practically skip as I moved along.I walked past a row of offices, I suddenly caught sight of a tall figure ahead. Something ab

  • FORBIDDEN AFFECTION    Submitting internship application

Lara’s POV After lunch with Aiden and Kailin, the house fell quiet again. The clatter of dishes had faded as the maids cleared the dining table, and soon after, Aiden and Kailin left for the office. I lingered in the silence for a moment before heading upstairs. A warm shower helped me shake off the exhaustion of the day, and when I was finally dressed, I collapsed onto my bed. My phone was still plugged in by the lampstand. Unlocking the screen, my eyes widened. Twelve missed calls—from Rose. I frowned, muttering to myself. “What the hell? Why would this girl call me twelve times?” Before I could even hit redial, the phone buzzed again. Rose. I answered immediately. “What is it, Rose? You called me twelve times! What’s so important?” “Sorry,” she blurted, her tone a little too soft, almost guilty. Then she hesitated before continuing, “Lara… about Kailin…” I sat up a little straighter. “What about him?” Her voice dropped to a nervous whisper. “Where does he stay? D
