The steam from the bath curled through the chamber, thick with the faint scent of lavender oils the servants had poured into the water. Alaric leaned against the edge of the copper tub until the heat leached some of the battle’s ache from his muscles. By the time he stepped out, water trailing down his skin, his body felt lighter but still raw.

He tied the towel around his waist, raking wet fingers through his hair. The candlelight painted shadows across the stone walls, and for the first time in days, silence held him like a fragile cloak.

The door creaked.

Aaron stepped inside, clad in a dark robe loosely tied at his waist, his damp hair clinging to his forehead. He carried a small wooden jar of balm in one hand, a strip of linen in the other.

For a heartbeat, both men stilled.

“You could’ve knocked,” Alaric said flatly, though the corner of his mouth twitched.

“I could’ve,” Aaron agreed, setting the balm on the table. “But I didn’t trust you not to pretend you were fine and then bl

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    CAPTURED SLAVES

The night stretched long and merciless.Selvane’s outpost burned from one end of the ridge to the other, fires climbing the dark rock faces like serpents. The screams of the dying echoed in the mountain passes, mingling with the pounding of hooves and the clash of steel. The red cloaks of Eldoria and Veridia carved through the chaos, grim reapers in the smoke.Alaric and Aaron rode at the front, their blades cutting arcs of silver in the firelight. Together they moved like twin shadows — Aaron’s spear thrusting, Alaric’s sword slashing, his bow loosing arrows with unerring precision. Men fell before them in heaps, their blood soaking into the mountain dirt.No hesitation. No mercy. The soldiers followed their princes without falter, roaring their names, their boots drumming in unison as they pressed Selvane’s warriors back step by step.Hours bled away. The battle rolled deeper into the outpost until the last of Selvane’s banners were trampled in the dirt. What had begun as an ambush

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    SELVANE

The mountain loomed black against a sky streaked in violet dusk. Selvane’s stronghold clung to its slopes like a nest of carrion crows, torches dotting the ridges, watchfires burning high. The air was thin here, sharp in his lungs. Behind him, the army of Eldoria and Veridia lay crouched in silence, the restless huff of horses the only sound in the wind.Aaron’s eyes met his across the shadows. A silent signal. The horns did not sound this time. There was no warning. Only the sudden rush of bodies as the first ranks surged forward, swallowing the ground between them and the enemy.Selvane’s watchmen shouted, scrambling. But they were too late. The first clash was brutal. Eldoria’s soldiers crashed against them like a tidal wave, shields slamming, swords biting through hastily raised defenses. Screams rose, steel shrieked, blood sprayed dark against the mountain’s stones.Alaric spurred his horse forward, cloak billowing. The red fabric caught the torchlight and for a moment even he th

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    RITUAL

The room smelled of iron and smoke, Kael’s faint glow still humming against the stone walls. The air had gone still in the wake of his outburst, but the silence was heavy, thick, as if the chamber itself was bracing.Theron stood at the foot of the bed, his hands clasped so tightly behind his back that his knuckles were bloodless. His voice was low, rough, when he finally broke the silence.“He’s too small for this. His body… his soul—they weren’t meant to bear this weight.” His eyes flicked to Elara. “You should have never sealed him in the first place.”Elara flinched, shoulders folding inward. “Don’t you dare place this on me, Theron. I did what I thought would keep him safe. Do you think I wanted my son growing up with chains on his birthright? I’ve carried that shame every day.” Her voice cracked, her gaze falling on Kael’s trembling hand. “And now… now I might lose him for it.”Silas gave a bitter laugh from the other side of the bed. His arms were folded across his chest, but h

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    UNSEAL HIS POWERS

The king’s chamber was thick with silence when the Moon Bearer and Elara returned. Kael lay pale and still upon the bed, his lips tinged with gray, his chest rising only shallowly. Silas had not left his side, one large hand wrapped around Kael’s frail fingers, as if keeping him tethered to life. Theron stood by the window, back rigid, eyes dark with unspoken fear.“We need to move him,” the Moon Bearer said without preamble. Her voice cut through the hush like a blade. “Now. To that secret birthing room.”Silas’ head snapped up. His eyes burned, feral and wet. “No.” His voice was low, dangerous. “Not that room.”Elara froze in the doorway, clutching the herbs to her chest. “Silas—”Silas rose slowly, his jaw clenched, his whole body shaking. He pointed at the Moon Bearer, then at Theron. “That is the room you took her to. My daughter. You said it was to change her fate. To lift some curse. But you—” His voice cracked, then roared back, shaking the chamber’s walls. “That is the room w

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    REALLY BAD

The queen mother pressed a final kiss to Kael’s damp temple, whispering words only a grandmother could breathe, before she rose. Her robes whispered against the stone floor as she gathered her satchel of herbs, her voice low but firm.“I must prepare for the ritual,” she said, her hands trembling though she tried to steady them. “Do not move him. Do not speak false hope over him. I will return shortly.”She swept from the chamber. The door closed. And silence fell, leaving only the faint sound of Kael’s shallow, uneven breaths.Theron stood rigid at the side of the bed, staring at his unconscious son as if sheer will could keep the boy alive. His lips parted, but no words came.Silas, seated at Kael’s side with the boy’s limp hand caught tight in his own, let out a low, bitter chuckle.“Feels familiar, brother?” His voice cut through the silence like a blade. His eyes lifted, black with restrained fury. “This is almost the same way my baby girl died. Except that she didn't get to grow

  • FORBIDDEN BOND: The Alpha's Desire    DEADLY

The chamber was suffocating with silence. Only the sound of Kael’s ragged breathing filled it, broken occasionally by the scrape of Silas’s chair as he sat forward, fists pressing against his knees. The queen mother’s hand stayed firmly on Kael’s pulse, but her gaze had dropped, heavy and troubled, as though the weight of her knowledge was too great.Theron’s voice cut through, low and edged with desperation.“Tell me there is a way. Some cure. Some—”“There is,” the queen mother interrupted, her tone sharp enough to silence even a king. She looked between Theron and Silas, then Kael, and finally said the words that had been weighing on her.“But it is not one you will want to hear.”Kael stirred weakly, his lashes wet against his skin. Silas instantly leaned closer, brushing Kael’s damp hair back, muttering, “Don’t listen. Don’t you dare listen unless it saves you.”The queen mother’s voice trembled for the first time. “The poison is clever. It binds to the body that is strongest… an
