“…shit,” he muttered under his breath.

He set the tray down a little harder than intended, fingers tightening against the polished surface before he forced them to relax.

Get it together.

“You good?”

Skyler’s voice came from the side, casual but observant.

Nyx didn’t turn immediately.“I’m fine.” He lied

Skyler snorted softly. “Yeah, no. You only get that stiff when something’s off.”

Nyx finally glanced at him, pulling at the edge of his sleeves as if adjusting it.

“Just a table,” he said. “Nothing new.”

“Mm.” Sky leaned against the counter, arms crossed. “Rich, masked, and already asking for private service five minutes in?”

Nyx exhaled through his nose. “Standard.”

But his mind wasn’t there, it was still at the table.

On him.

The one who hadn’t touched anything.

The one who watched.

Nyx reached up, pressing his fingers briefly against the bridge of his nose beneath the mask.

“What’s got you thinking?” Sky pressed.

Nyx hesitated.

“…the quiet one.”

Sky perked up immediately. “Oh? The scary one?”

Nyx shot him a look. “He’s not scary.”

Sky raised a brow. “He looked like he was about to file a lawsuit just sitting there.”

Despite himself, Nyx let out a small breath of a laugh.

“Yeah,” he murmured. “Something like that.” He paused. “You think he’s a cop or a private investigator?”

But that wasn’t it.

Not really.

It was the way he looked.

Not at his body.

At him.

Like he was trying to solve something.

Nyx’s fingers curled slightly.

He hated that kind of attention. But it always found him either way.

It was the one thing his mask wasn’t built for.

“I mean…even if he is…it’s not our problem. We can always play victim.Did he say anything weird?” Sky asked.

Nyx shook his head.

“No.”

A pause.

“…not exactly.”

Sky narrowed his eyes. “That doesn’t sound reassuring.”

Nyx leaned back against the counter, tilting his head slightly.

“He was just…staring.”

“That’s normal.”

“Not like that.”

Sky waited.

“He noticed.”

Sky straightened a bit. “Noticed what?”,he reached up and lightly touched just beneath his eye.

“My eyes,” he said finally.

Sky’s expression shifted.

“Oh. I mean it’s not really a hidden feature of yours”

“Yeah.”

“Most people don’t clock that,” Sky muttered.

“Exactly.”

That was the problem.

Nyx’s jaw tightened slightly.

“He didn’t stare like the others,” he continued. “Didn’t act like it was… a novelty.”

Sky frowned. “Then what?”

Nyx’s voice dropped.

“Like it meant something.”

Sky studied him for a moment. “You sure you’re not overthinking it?”

Nyx gave a quiet, humorless huff. “I don’t get paid to overthink.”

“You kinda do,” Sky said lightly.

Nyx pushed him away playfully, “you’re the worst”

“…he didn’t touch anything,” Nyx added.

Sky blinked. “What?”

“The drink. The menu. Nothing. Just asked for Whiskey.” Nyx’s gaze drifted toward the curtain. “Just sat there. Watching.”

“Creepy.”

“No,” Nyx said immediately. Then paused. “…yep, creepy.”

Nyx straightened slowly, rolling his shoulders back.

“You going back?” Sky asked.

“I have to.”

“They ordered the full set. You know you don’t have to…no one is forcing you”

Nyx glanced at him.

“I know.”

Sky hesitated. “You want me to swap tables with you?”

Nyx shook his head instantly.

“No.”

Sky caught it.

A slow grin spread across his face. “Ohhh. So you are interested.”

“I’m not interested.”

“Mmhm.”

“I’m working.”

“Sure you are.” Sky snorted.

“Don’t make it weird.”

“I’m not the one making it weird,” Sky shot back. “You’re the one thinking about a customer.”

Nyx stilled.

It was the first time he ever did. And it wasn’t thoughts of disgust or self loath.

“I think about all my customers,” he said smoothly.

“Yeah…while puking in the restroom”

“You always want to have the last word, don’t you?”

“Damn right I do”

Nyx stepped back into the crimson haze of the club, two other hosts trailing behind him.

Back to the mysterious man.

Back to the hawk-eyed gaze that zeroed in on him once he stepped in.

  • FORBIDDEN CURRICULUM   ~RABBIT•

Rabbit leaned his head against the window, the cool glass pressing against his temple as the city blurred past him. The paper bag sat warm in his lap, untouched. He knew he should eat. He knew he needed the energy. But even lifting his hand felt like too much work. The bus ride back felt longer than usual. “I’ll eat later…” he murmured, though he knew he probably wouldn’t. Even though he didn’t want to waste Margret’s food. His eyes drifted shut for a second. “Last stop!” Rabbit jerked awake, heart skipping as the driver’s voice cut through his haze. He blinked rapidly, grabbing his bag and stumbling off the bus with the rest of the passengers. Great. He almost missed it. By the time he made it back to campus, the sun hung high, bright and unforgiving. Students moved around him in clusters, laughing, complaining, living. The heat doubled the pangs of hunger in his belly. He stopped briefly outside the humanities building, finally opening the paper bag Margret h

Monday came faster than expected. “Weekends are for meeting deadlines…Monday is for making sure I’m not dead” he groaned and made his way to the bathroom. Although his classes didn’t start until afternoon, he had to prepare for this morning shift by 8AM at a diner uptown. He rinsed his face, grabbed a toothbrush, squeezed toothpaste onto it and got to work. His alarm went off as he rinsed off his mouth, peeking at his phone on the desk from the bathroom; 7:15AM. “Oh” he groaned again, facing the mirror. A tired face with heavy dark circles stared back. “It will soon be over,” he muttered and hopped in the shower. His alarm went off again. 7:30AM He quickly patted himself dry and pulled on some fresh clothes, a black tee, jorts(one of his jeans he modified) and sneakers. By 7:45; he was racing out of his dorm chasing the morning uptown bus. By 8, the doorbell rung announcing his presence. “Oh hey Angel!” Mrs Owens, the owner of the dinner, called out in

The night came to an end sooner than he expected. A soft yet thick scent stuck to him as he washed off his makeup and tore his costume off. Skyler had placed bottles of water next to the toilet to wash his mouth and face after emptying his insides. He pulled at his bottom lip, his mind going back to a few hours ago. Cedar-wood and something sharper—ink? filled his nostrils as licked and kissed at the neck of the hawk-might-be-a-private-investigator-man, as he had come to nickname him, soft grunts escaped the man as he shifted in his seat. “Uncomfortable?” Nyx whispered and began to pull away only for a rough palm to press into his waist pulling him back into position. “I take it as a no?” He smirked, one hand on his lips and the other trailing over hawk-man’s chest. His heart thumping in his chest. Was he scared or excited? If it was either or neither, why? Why was his heart hammering in his chest? He had served a lot of customers but none has ever had him feel

  • FORBIDDEN CURRICULUM   ~NOAH

The curtain shifted again and a small group emerged alongside Nyx. Two more hosts, dressed in variations of silk and lace, masks gleaming under the low light. Brandon’s eyes lit up. “Oh, now this is what I was talking about.” Noah’s eyes narrowed. “What exactly did you order?” Hart leaned back, clearly entertained. “Something memorable.” “That tells me nothing.” “It’s better if you experience it,” Brandon added with a grin. Noah’s expression darkened. “I dislike surprises.” “Yes,” Hart said dryly. “We know.” Nyx approached the table once more, tray now replaced with something… different. A slender glass decanter filled with a deep crimson liquid. Two shot glasses. And a third placed directly in front of Noah. “This is part of our private service selection,” Nyx explained . “A curated experience for guests seeking something beyond the ordinary.” Noah didn’t touch the glass. “Define beyond the ordinary,” he said. Nyx’s lips curved faintly. “An indulgence of the human se

The club pulsed with soft and slow jazz.Seated in a secluded booth with a large round table and individual leather couches, overlooking the stage. Noah observed everything with restrained composure, everything inside him was screaming to leave this place but he sat still for the sake of his friends.Behind his matte-black mask, his expression remained unreadable.“This place is…a lot,” he said coolly, adjusting the cuff of his sleeve.Brandon chuckled. “You say a lot. I say unforgettable.”Hart leaned back, swirling the amber liquid in his glass they were given as ‘starters’.“Give it time, Noah. Even you might find something worth appreciating.”“I doubt it,” Noah replied flatly. He really did, nothing about this place was a good idea. Before Brandon could retort, a soft voice interrupted them.“Good evening, gentlemen. May I take your order?”Noah’s gaze lifted. And stilled.Standing before their table was a figure dressed in blue silk and beige accents of a rabbit-themed costume
