“What the hell are you talking about?” Lena snapped angrily at him. “Why don’t you tell him I was your first love in middle school?”Adrian replied. Lena’s eyes widened. Tarzan’s head jerked toward her. “Your first love?” “No!” Lena burst out. “He wasn't my first love! Yes, I had a crush on him, but Mitch was—” She paused abruptly. The look on Tarzan’s face made her stomach drop. Oh God.She’d just made it worse. “Listen to me, please, baby,” she pleaded, stepping closer. “I only had a crush on Adrian because he was the good looking boy in my calss who won the junior cooking competition. It wasn’t just me—half our classmates liked him! I was fascinated by his talent, that was all.” Adrian raised an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth lifting. “Good looking?” Lena ignored him and continued. “But it lasted two weeks. Two weeks. It was a stupid schoolgirl crush.” “It was just a crush for you,” Adrian said quietly. “Mine lasted two decades, Lena.” Lena’s mouth fell open. Tarz
Tarzan finally slowed down.“Save it. I need an explanation, not an apology.” He paused briefly before adding, “By the way, we have company.”Lena's eyes widened behind him.“What?”“We're being followed,” Tarzan replied flatly. Her arms tightened instinctively around his waist as she cautiously turned her head to look behind them.A familiar black car was following them. Her heart nearly stopped.“It's... Adrian. He followed us?”Tarzan heard her and glanced briefly at the side mirror, when he noticed it was indeed Adrian, his jaw tightened beneath his helmet, and the hand gripping the throttle grew firmer.“So, this is the man you were with when you decided that answering your fiancé's calls was too much trouble?”Lena opened her mouth, then closed it again. What could she possibly say?He wasn't wrong. She had deliberately ignored his calls, and although she had her reasons, she knew none of them would sound convincing to a man who had spent hours worrying about her.Tarzan acceler
Tarzan had no idea how long they'd been riding before he finally noticed something was wrong. Or rather, how long it took him to realize that something was missing. Lena's arms. Specifically, the arms that were supposed to be wrapped around his waist. He glanced down briefly, only to discover that Lena was sitting behind him like a passenger who had accidentally boarded the wrong motorcycle. His eyebrows drew together. He wanted to wave it off—maybe that would let her know how angry he was. But... he couldn't hold back anymore. "Why aren't you holding on to me?!" He said it as loud as he could over the roar of his bike engine. Lena startled. "What?" The wind swallowed half her response. Tarzan rolled his eyes. Of all the things he'd imagined happening today, his fiancée refusing to hold him while riding his motorcycle had not been one of them. He lifted one hand from the handlebar and reached behind him, extending it toward her. His gloved fingers opened and closed in a
Another horn blared behind them. A driver leaned out of his window and shouted a curse word at them. Lena glanced toward the road and realized the situation was rapidly deteriorating. "Okay, this really isn't the time for a discussion." She pushed the car door open and stepped outside. Tarzan immediately moved aside to give her room, but his attention never left her face. The moment Lena stood beside him, he noticed the faint red mark the seat belt had left against her dress—a line pressed into her skin from the sudden braking. His jaw tightened as anger surged through him. He wanted to know whether Adrian had been speeding. Whether Lena had been frightened. Whether the man had done anything to make her uncomfortable. And, most importantly, why she had been in his car in the first place. A dozen questions crowded his mind, but he forced himself to swallow them. For now, there was only one that mattered. "Are you all right?" he asked. Lena nodded. "I'm fine." "Are you sure?"

"No!" Lena answered far too quickly.Adrian frowned."Are you sure?""Yes. I'm sure."Tarzan knocked on the window again.Lena closed her eyes briefly.Lord, please help me.When she opened them, Adrian was already reaching for his phone."Don't be scared," he assured her. "I'll call the police."Lena's eyes flew open."Please, don't call the police. He's not a threat.""Huh? This man has practically held up traffic, and now he's ordering you out of my car!"Lena swallowed. There was no way around it. She couldn't let Adrian call the police on her own fiancé—although Tarzan deserved a lecture for his dramatic entrance in the middle of the road, she was also at fault for not telling him where she was."He's my fiancé," she confessed quietly.Adrian slowly turned his head toward her."Your... fiancé?"Lena nodded. For several seconds, he simply stared at her as though trying to determine whether she was joking. Then his gaze shifted toward Tarzan, who remained beside the window. He lowe
You will never truly understand heartbreak until it comes from the same man who once adored you—who protected you, who loved you without hesitation. “What’s the number?” My husband’s voice came from the doorway. I flinched and looked up. That’s how sad my life had become—the usual routine of ste
The message I sent to my husband Mitch was left unanswered. Just like the ones I sent days ago… weeks ago. He had stopped replying to my texts. I scrolled through the one-sided conversation, my heart tightening at how pathetic it looked. Suddenly, a message popped up. Hoping it was his reply, I
MITCH'S POV I was staring at the TV replaying highlights of the match we’d lost 3-1 with bottles on the table in front of me. I cracked open another one, trying to flush down the frustration inside my chest. My childhood friend Jake walked in from the kitchen, towel over his shoulder, and rai
I forced myself up and walked back into the bedroom Mitch and I had shared for three years of our marriage. I hadn’t slept in that bed for over two years now. Not since I left it. Every morning, he used to wake me up to complain about my snoring. I apologized. Then… I started staying awake
