The sun had dipped below the horizon and the only source of light in my room was from the dim lamp by my bed. I was seated at the edge of the bed, my fingers digging into the sheets as I just stared at the wall.

My heart was pounding in my chest. Oh god, he was going to tell my mum. I was so cooked. My mum would never forgive me. God, he had evidence.

I barely slept a wink that night, I tossed and turned in bed, aware that my mum had come back home in the early hours of the day.

The voices of her and Trey were loud in the living room and I waited for bated breath for when he would tell my mum everything.

One thing was sure, Trey hadn't told her. Not yet.

Keeping my face neutral, I continued. “Where?”

She beamed. “California. You, Trey and I. We're gonna have fun.”

My heart deflated. A weekend trip with them? Alone?
