Sebastian ‘s POV

As Kael wheeled me toward the blue drawing room, the flower sat gently in my palm, its petals trembling in the faint breeze.

Without thinking too hard, I looked down at it once more.

Light gold. Soft and warm.

Like her smile.

I tucked the flower into the inner fold of my coat pocket, near my heart.

I didn’t know why.

Maybe it was because it felt... wrong to toss it aside. Or maybe, it was something else.

Kael stopped outside the blue drawing room and bowed, his tone always calm. “She’s inside.”

I nodded, and he took his leave.

I pushed the wheel with both hands, gliding into the room with practiced ease.

Claire stood near the window, her golden gown bathed in the afternoon light. Her smile stretched across her lips as soon as she saw me.

“Finally,” she said, walking briskly over. “Let me.”

Before I could protest, her hands were already on the chair, helping me roll toward the center of the room.

“How are you doing?” she asked, her voice sweet but laced with something

Avery's POVAs the door closed behind the last attendant, I turned to face Flora and Eliha. They were already looking at me expectantly. Flora, ever composed, stood by the window, adjusting the lace cuff on her sleeve, while Eliha sat on the edge of the bed, swinging her legs absentmindedly. They noticed I was not myself. I had not been since I noticed the anonymous note.I slowly crossed the room and sat beside Eliha, hands folded in my lap."There is something I need you both to do," I explained. "But this is strictly between us."Flora instantly straightened. Eliha's feet stopped in mid-swing."My lady, what is wrong?" Flora inquired, stepping forward."I found something. A note. hidden in my drawer." I hesitated before adding, "It said: 'That I should beware of Claire.'"Both of my maids exchanged startled looks."Lady Claire?" Eliha whispered. "But she is...""I am not sure what she is," I interjected. "But I want to find out before I tell Prince Sebastian about the note. I need

  • FOREVER YOURS TO KEEP   Anonymous Note

Avery's POVThe scent of lavender did little to alleviate the throbbing in my head. Sunlight cut through the thick curtains like a ruthless parody of peace. A vivid memory of last night's events, including the public humiliation, the flood of emotions, the desperate, inebriated kiss, the burning heat of my lips on Sebastian's lips, and the icy aftermath, was brought back to me by the strange room. Recalling Sebastian's refusal to mark me, my hand automatically moved to the nape of my neck. The lack of the mate bond was a sharp contrast to the fate that others had accepted. There was a faint knock, and the door squeaked open."Good morning, my lady," Flora said softly as she entered with a silver tray in her hand. The air was filled with the reassuring aroma of ginger and a hint of bitterness. She went on, "I brought you hangover soup," and placed the tray on the bedside table. She spoke softly, as she always did when she was trying to hide her anxiety. "You got drunk last night."I

Sebastian's POVSebastian's POVThe ballroom doors swung shut behind Avery, echoing the emptiness she had left. I watched her leave, a knot tightening in my chest. Worry gnawed at me like a relentless tide, pulling at my resolve. I wanted to follow her, to untangle the tangled web of emotions she would left in her wake, but my legs, or rather, their lack of full function, let me down. My wheelchair made me feel confined."What a pathetic display," Claire said, her voice as sharp as shattered glass, cutting through my thoughts. "Such a dramatic departure. She is truly a petulant child."Her mocking amusement sparked a defiant fire within me. I gripped my chair's wheels, my knuckles white, the desire to pursue Avery overwhelming. With a surge of determination, I began to move forward."Don't!" Claire hissed, reaching out to stop me. "You will make a fool of yourself."I paused, my eyes fixed on her. "Did you spike Avery's drink?" The question, direct and accusatory, hung betwee

  • FOREVER YOURS TO KEEP   An unexpected invitation

Avery’s POVAs I left the training ground, sweat clung to my skin and the ache of exertion settled into my limbs, the cheers continued to echo faintly in my ears. But it was not the sound of victory that got my heart racing. It was something else. A strange stirring. A whisper in my blood. My wolf had been quiet during the sparring, but as soon as I stepped away from the circle of swords and praise, she stirred, as if catching a scent I could not detect. Her presence brushed against my consciousness, unsettling. Searching. He is here.I paused in mid-step as the thought occurred to me unexpectedly. My eyes instinctively scanned the shadows around the trees, the training dummies, and even the watchtower. Was it him?I shook my head. No, it is impossible. I had not seen him since the tea party. Since I was embarrassed at the tea party.I swallowed the lump that always forms when I recall that day and made my way to my chambers, casting one last glance over my shoulder. The path was clea

  • FOREVER YOURS TO KEEP   Hidden Witness

Sebastian's POVThe rhythmic clang of steel on steel irritated my nerves, a dissonance that I normally found oddly comforting. However, today was different. Perhaps it was the way the sun glinted off her hair, a fiery contrast to the drab gray of the training grounds, or the raw determination written across her face. I could not put it into words, but a subtle unease pricked at the edges of my composure. That unease was solidified when Kael entered, his normally impassive features etched with a flicker of surprise."Your Highness," he said, his voice low and measured, in stark contrast to the din outside my study. "I just witnessed the Princess training with the Royal Guard."My hand tightened around the stylus, exerting a faint pressure on the smooth parchment I would been idly sketching on. The Princess Avery is training with the guards? The image, unexpected and somewhat jarring, settled in my mind like unexpected rain. Why would she do such strenuous activity? Was it a clear atte

  • FOREVER YOURS TO KEEP   Weeping

Avery's POVExcited murmurs passed through the guests. The nobles sat straighter, the ladies giggling and glancing at one another. One by one, they recited their poems sweet rhymes, nature verses, romantic prose. The garden rang with carefully rehearsed voices. And then Claire turned her smiling dagger toward me.“Lady Avery, would you like to share something with us?”I froze inwardly. My throat tightened, heart pounding.I hadn’t expected to be called on. And I knew exactly why she’d done it.She thought I would fail.I smiled, though it barely reached my eyes.“Of course,” I said.I rose to my feet, gathering every shred of calm I had left. And then, I recited:“In halls of gold and whispered lies,Where roses bloom and truth oft dies,One voice may tremble but won’t break,For thorns can bleed but still awake.Though I may fall, I rise anew,In silk and pride, and strength in view,A crown unclaimed upon my brow,But fire walks with me now.”Silence.For a heartbeat, no one spoke.

  • FOREVER YOURS TO KEEP   The Tea Party

Avery’s POVI was fastening the last button on my dress when I heard a firm knock on the door. I paused because I was not expecting anyone else and I was a little surprised.I approached the door with curiosity, my gown's smooth hem grazing the floor. I cautiously opened it and froze."Good morning."In his wheelchair, Sebastian sat in front of me. He was meticulously dressed in slacks and a dark, fitted shirt. His eyes were as cold and unreadable as ever, and his hair was combed back neatly. But after seeing him here, something was different. right outside my door."Your Highness..." I blinked, speaking more softly than I meant to. "I was not expecting...""I came to ask if you had eaten." His tone was calm and distant, but polite.I stood there, stunned for a moment. "No...not yet.""Then can I come in?"I quickly stepped aside. "Of course."He rolled in with ease, gliding silently across the polished floor. For a brief moment, I just stood there staring. I had not really seen him s

  • FOREVER YOURS TO KEEP   Rumors

Avery’s POV The soft morning light filtered through the sheer golden curtains, casting delicate shadows across the marble floor. I shifted beneath the silk sheets, my lashes fluttering open as I adjusted to the light. For a brief moment, I blinked in confusion. The bed felt too soft, familiar, and wrong.I sat up slowly, the silk pooling around my waist.Wait… I fell asleep on the couch last night. My brow furrowed as I looked around the room. The velvet couch near the window, where I remember curling up with a blanket after the awkward conversation with Sebastian, showed no signs of sleep. But I was certain I had fallen asleep there. I remember hugging my knees and staring at the flickering flames in the fireplace until exhaustion overtook me.So, why was I on the bed now?My heart beat a little quicker. Did he ...?I turned quickly, almost breathless, hoping to see him next to me. The space was cold, undisturbed, and empty. Sebastian was nowhere to be found. My chest tightened. I
